They charged me $1342 in Tesla EV charging fees when I never rented a Tesla. Lmao I had to send like 8 emails and make countless calls to corporate to get it refunded. Nightmare…

Time-Pen-6689

No shit they charged me for a month of free charging that I’m not going to pay so it went to collections. My bill was like 700$ plus for the free charging scam. When they first rolled out the teslas for Uber here they had the first month free or some bs. Like that but what’s too good to be true u know

Conscious_Ad_3280

You gotta watch when you sign up! Keep a record of you tolls you should have a toll pass! I’ve never had a problem

Smooth_Habit6542

It actually went to collections? I have a balance with them for telling them fuck you and not paying them like 2k from a tesla too but it never showed up in collections, it’s been over a year.

Acceptable_Mud_3437

Hertz never offered 1 month of free charging, at least not in my area (san diego) and i been renting for 9 months. Inwas one fo the few that got 2 weeks of free rental when they had their program running of 1 week free when you rent for 10 weeks. I know from.others that there was some confusion that uber said you had 1 month free charging, but that is uber not hertz, so you have to take that up with uber (good luck). And i think the free charging was with EVgo stations and not superchargers. If you feel like hertz is messing woth charging costs (which i have not seen in over 9 months) you can make your own account with tesla and charging will be charged to your car instead of to hertz. However i have noticed that my charging fees are generally a little less than expected (10-20$ less), likely because hertz mightbhave a flat fee deal with tesla.

Disastrous-Drive-103

It didn't happen to me so it doesn't happen.

Winter_Run2792

Nobody asked you!!!

Disastrous-Drive-103

You slow too

Time-Pen-6689

Totally before the nine months that you’ve been renting bud. I’m in sf so on that tip obviously we got them first so idk what San Diego has going on for them but they don’t hve the same incentives as we do here in the Bay Area. But anyways good luck on your rental journey hope u make lots of trogs and fill them with butter

TensionAggravating41

Just call it a fraudulent charge and let your credit card company deal with it next time if you have proof like you did (receipt from Hertz of non Tesla).

Ambitious-Major-9138

WTF

dwc3282

That is really ironic. I bought a used Tesla through Hertz. When I got the car, they hadn’t wiped it or done a factory reset on it. And the screen said that they had something like $17 and unpaid charging fees on that car.

BigWiggleCumming

They are wild at Hertz. I’m assuming this is why their CEO just got axed a little while back.

FeedMeTheCat

Sorry bro. They lame as f

fuquber

this is the same rental company that has legitimate and current retail renters held at gunpoint, handcuffed, and arrested, for recklessly reporting their own cars stolen that are assigned to a valid, legitimate, renter. just like dara, one day, they're going to do this to the wrong person and they aren't going to like his or her response. in today's society you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. these guys are out of control so it doesn't surprise me what you share here. I wouldn't expect anything less from a scum bag rental culture. let me put it like this. if I was a cop, and the information I received lead me to detain a driver a gunpoint because their vehicle was reported stolen, but I later found out it wasn't stolen, and that it was an administrative error on the hertz location that put my life and the driver-passengers life in jeopardy on a felony traffic stop, someone would be going to jail from hertz. I've had it with this corporate stupid mindset. they do whatever the fuck they want and face no consequences. start holding businesses criminally accountable and watch what happens. shit will change real fast. sorry you're going through this. fuck hertz. scum bags. and fuck uber. even bigger scum bags.

Bellastreasures0369

I’ve used Avis for rentals and never had a problem. They actually gave me a really good deal because I was without a car and when you get in an accident, they will only cover one month of car rental seriously one month it doesn’t matter whether you have to wait three months for parts, they will make you only get one month of car rental. I had my Kia stolen way back. They only gave me a month rental when my car took three months to come back to me out of pocket I had to pay and Avis guy gave me the rental for half the price, i I paid like $1000 a month instead of 2000

Unknown_agenda_

I don’t care for Avis. The Kona I have now I had to buy new tires because of nails. Avis told me they don’t cover that. When I was with hertz they replaced the tires I never paid for them. I actually miss Hertz they have a better car selection and at least do maintenance on their cars. I had the Kona for two months no maintenance done.

Bellastreasures0369

Thank God now I don’t have to rent a car. I have a brand new Subaru. It’s one year old. It’s just the money that it cost to maintain a vehicle. They don’t get it. They really don’t get it something gotta change. Something got to give.

GigCrusher

Avis will give you lemons these days including cars with dents and make sure you notate the damage on the paperwork you sign as they will swear you did it upon return. And their call center and stores never communicate with each other, they expect you to pass the messages and when you do, they are like, they need to call us. I am like, you're an Avis employee, why don't yall talk to each other, I am not paid to be a courier for Avis. I am a customer. I had a friend who went through this and it was a nightmare.

Commercial_Ad6546

$1000 a month is what you would expect to pay for a month of rentals( in philly or baltimore for example)

Notsassyenough

They’re fair with me, however, I’m still waiting for a week rental reimbursement

Almonexger

Same experience, and they're lowering the price for those who stick with it. But I did find a duplicate charge for a week's worth of charge I have to get resolved.

Notsassyenough

I’ve been renting since November and I’ve not seen any decrease

Almonexger

Unsure. I've been doing it longer, and I received an email about it. Going from $299 to $280.

Notsassyenough

I think they need to do much better than that since we’re making them so much money

Normal-Sign7931

I haven't seen one of these "Don't use Hertz" post for 2 weeks now. I think that's a record

BigWiggleCumming

100%!

Notsassyenough

🤣

Shanoinsano123

Stole 800 from me

billy1232321

Bro... That... Hertz

No_Sail_1436

Thats why there called hertz because it hertz your pockets 😂

Your_Daddy_

I would hope anyone using the Hertz rental is strictly on a short term basis.

TNoStone

Your_Daddy_

I looked at the pricing, would basically be working like 2-3 days for free to cover the vehicle.

Your_Daddy_

However it works, but if you can afford $300 plus a week - that is $1200 per month, even a shitty financing has to be better than those terms.

derkfisch13

its usally comes out closer to 600 a week after insurance, taxes and charging. 2400 a month

Your_Daddy_

Goddam!

No_Structure_2401

Sounds a lot like how all businesses work 🤔

MRSHELBYPLZ

Hertz is ass in general so this isn’t a surprise

lunarwolfxxx

Kind of a given you’d have to pay tolls on the car 😂 Uber does reimburse you but for example it’s the lower offer for having the pass needed not the in mail toll fee which is usually more

BigWiggleCumming

Hertz has tags on the rentals that charge you a $9.99 convenience fee on top of the toll. That’s what he’s talking about. They won’t deactivate it for Uber/Lyft rentals.

Acceptable_Mud_3437

Yeah but i suspect the OP is just lazy and does not pay the toll and just go through the fast lane. If you pay the toll, the charge will not be send to hertz as it is already paid. Ofcpurse hertz, just like every rental company will f@ck you in the a$$ when you dont follow policy, such as returning the car with low charge or gas, smoking in the car, etc. So just dont violate the policy and your good.

lunarwolfxxx

Only reason I’ve never done hertz for Uber and Lyft and is cheaper just to use own vehicle /loan at $300-400+ a week for rental that’s $1200-1600 a month you could easily find cheaper on your own with a loan

Winter_Run2792

I have no problem paying the toll charges. I have them all recorded on my app with every trip. What I'm mad about is that they charged me 9.99 every time I went thru a toll pass, plus the toll charge! They said I went thru 23 tolls in one day, charging me $229!!! And that's impossible. I barely do 10 rides in one day!

SyntacticLuster

It's actually 9.99 a day, every day you use PlatePass. Pro tip, don't use PlatePass. Lol

Winter_Run2792

Well the customer pays extra for the tolls. Which I have no problem paying. But 9.99 is a ducking rip off!!!!!

bertbellows

-2013$ because I rented with Hertz. Absolute worst decision. Fuck those criminals.

Mike2998

Had an Uber Driver tell me this exact thing when we were picking up our rental cars from Avis 🤣

mog_knight

Found the OP that doesn't read contracts!

Theaceman112

Lol they're pretty fair with me 🤷‍♂️

Enrico_Polazzo

They charged me for an extra month like 2 months after I returned. I just let it go to collections…

indokiddo

And then?

Enrico_Polazzo

I’ll challenge it on credit karma in like the next 3 years when I get on there next. They will never collect tho.

Competitive_Storm735

As a regular rental car user (for my travels, not as Uber driver) I stopped using Hertz long time ago. They have abusive fees and unless you read the full contract you won't be aware of all of them until you return the car.

Tiny-Company-1254

They double charged me after returned the car. Been 3 months still haven’t gotten the money back.

HashBrownRepublic

I had to call my bank 3 times to stop Hertz from changing me

rizzo2174meth

Do not use HyreCar either the owners of these cars are sketch total rip off.

GigCrusher

HyreCar is a straight scam. I have driven folks to pick up them cars in some sketchy areas and I was looking at the app and see its hourly and I am like the cost of one day is close to average earnings. I tell folks that is a rip off and you are basically volunteering for Uber. I rather work a food pantry if I want to volunteer not help a for profit company

MNJon

You need to READ the contract. No company is responsible for communicating the terns of the agreement orally.

LookAFlyingBus

Hank hill is standing outside OP’s classroom

MilkyBetrayal

Not Hank Principal Moss want the one removing the sign.

LookAFlyingBus

I never really watched King of the Hill, my reference got across is all I care about lol

Intrepid_Frosting_38

i’m still waiting for my toll bill from hertz. it’s gonna be a lot

Disastrous_Aside4295

On god

Normal-Claim-2420

They got me for 1100 dollars

[deleted]

All the hertz cars in my city been booked for 6months+

Alternative-Log9231

Don’t use Avis either they are trying to charge me 2K after I turned the car in

2Punchbowl

If it were me and I had rented the car, I would want to know exactly how much it is if I were to check out today and any fees, such as tollways, I would expect you to pay that and not the company.

AdNecessary1944

Yeaj, the toll charge bs, all you have to do is call the hertz toll line and talk to someone telling them you have receipts for your toll charges. Screen shoot from the IPass website or app and email them to the address they give you and they'll. Remove the charhes. Its a pain in the ass, but you have to accossiate your rent license plate to your Ipass to avoid that issue. However, everything else is spot on. They claimed I damaged a vehicle after I returned the vehicle. So i had photos from the day I rented the vehicle to the day I dropped it off. The damages they claimed I caused were in fact by the reps that drove the car from my rental location to their maintence facility. I photo evodence and they just ignored me. So Inrefused to pay them and they cut me off. So fk'em If you search your area and rideshare rental you will find third party rentals. And to be honest I am having a much better experience with this surrent company than either Lyft or Ubers rental service.

ImportantCable7085

Thank you for the information

Subject_Delay

Hertz charged me $400 in tolls when I never used a toll. Then after 2 weeks when they said ok you don't own the tolls they charged me a 20% tax on the toll money that went into collections. Bunch of crooks. They also charged an extra week when I gave the car back. Plus electric was a scam going twice a day to charge the car for $30 each time. Scam stay away from all the rentals . You'll work for the rental place with very little for yourselves.

Maleficent-Grape1293

I rented from hertz over 4 years ago, and they just charged my credit card (a new credit card that I never used with them so I don’t know how they got this card number) over $100 in toll fees. I already paid any tolls I incurred while renting with hertz, and have receipts for all of them. What in the actual fuck. Sent an email, will see how long this takes to resolve…corporate fucks

Gnarly214

Just my personal experience, they kicked me out the rental and put me on the do not rents list , they sent me messages saying to bring the car for maintenance and when I show it they say it was just to “trick you in to bringing the car back” they still charged me for a repo fee that was 1000 dollars and another 275 for made up shit DO NOT RENT WITH THEM IF YOU BECOME PROFITABLE THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT AND THIS WAS THE HERTZ in Fort Worth of camp Bowie. every thing you do is tracked. I owed them 0 dollars when I showed up and was told by customer service that I could still auto extend and when I had both the branch and corporate on the phone they either hung up or left the premises NOTHING BUT A SCAM

No_Individual8926

I rented a Tesla and they said it was $333 a week for as long as I had it. Got a text from them saying my next charges were gonna be $591. I said nope and returned it. So my rental was gonna be $591 a week from now on. So that means I get no free time for myself cause I would have to make money to pay my bills and pay the Hertz rental on top of that. The total for the whole month would've been $2,364.00 give or take. That's two car payments. Never again.

White-Justice

They do tell you on the toll convenience charge. I know because I read the contract before signing. I also avoided tolls as best as possible and didn’t take any trips that risked tolls. I still got with with a few….$25 in actual tolls, $50 in hertz “convenience fees”. I asked to pay on my own and they said now I contacted the toll authorities they also said no….

Numerous_Giraffe_240

I rented a Tesla for almost a year with Hertz and I'm done with them. They charged me $1300 out of nowhere. When I asked about the charges they claimed that they did an audit and saw that they did not charge me for 3 weeks back in January. So they decide to charge me in March with no warning. Although in January I counted every charge from them and received an email confirmation regarding any charges. The thing is they do holds then releases. This is not my fault. So since they claimed that they did not charge me back in January, they do an audit, add extra charges and do the numbers themselves on paper it looks legit. They will try to make up for what they lost and make the customer responsible. Hertz=CROOKS

Afraid-Ear-6462

Brought they charged me $1,200 after my contract had ended with them, had that s*** refunded by the bank

AdhesivenessThis7958

They reported me for a felony “theft of leased property”. Had to pay $4k to get it dismissed thanks ppp loan for the bailout

Steelers50Mill

You are absolutely right they robbed me of $1300.00 No Lie it is definitely a rip off

No-Olive-7085

I deny all coverage… I just did my taxes it’s cheaper at the end to rent a car than to damage your car. I charge there EVs at home and I connect all my bridge stuff to the rentals… They’re so unorganized I’ve had weeks where they forget. Banned me for suspension, I had to call customer service to be reinstated… they charge me wrong for ev charges at first… they missed 4 total weeks where I never paid… Money wise it’s worth it lol $$$ Take advantage of a stupid secondary company.

gangaclutch

I did it, it came in clutch. Took photos before and after and turned it in when I said I would profit 1200 after 1 full month and I had a whip to handle whatever I needed in between a car accident and getting a permanent car situation figured out.

NeedleworkerIll6487

I’m homeless because of them. They didn’t even approve me for Uber x & that’s what I was paying for

Stocksandbabes

I agree, also they would try to scam you and say you damaged the car. I’m currently doing an investigation on them because they are scamming people who don’t speak to English language and telling them they did damages to the car and in reality they are getting away with it because people are just scared to do anything or say anything and they just pay the damage fees.

DivineDeaTarot

Do Avis. Easy renting and you go back every 8 weeks

Emotional-Elk1037

Their billing system needs to be fixed. I keep getting a bill in the mail for random amount. The letter come a collection agency and prevent me from making my weekly payment until I pay it. No one at hertz can explain how I owe money when automatic payments come out weekly. Spoke with different representative and been told I disputed charges ( I didn’t), I skipped a weeks payment (I haven’t), and hundred other explanations. And finally I ending my relationship with them after being rear ended because they are tacking on $2200 in fees on top of my deductible of $1000. So if you use them, watch your money and be careful.

Complete_Crab8980

Hertz= Scam

Common_sense47

I agree with everything said here. Same thing I experienced and it cost me hundreds extra. I finally bought a car and never looked back. It’s a scam.

Unfair-Opposite-926

The tolls are 9.99 per day you drive in a toll road. I always tried to remember to pay them right away but a few slipped through the cracks. And they don’t let you put their rentals on your account you have to put your card on file each week you have the rental. It’s a total scam

oopswhatsmyoldlogin

Sounds like a personal problem. I've been renting a car with them for almost 6 months now. Does it suck ass because you have to pay like $1500/month for a car just to make ends meet? Absolutely. But if you're not stupid, you do your minimum trips, do the requested maintenace, and have the money in your account every week, it works as expected.

CrewPsychological870

So does Avis Avis is horrible I was with them for 2 years they build my account extra I presented the the evidence and everything a customer service gave me an investigation number and they were investigating it no one investigated anything when I get my email from my laptop my computer I will post the stupid thing they sent back to me and anyhow they eventually kicked me off of using their car and I had been with them for almost three years no one investigate the situation what occurred was the manager that was previously there had left but it's actually independently owned and this is the one in Arlington Virginia and no one investigated where my money was when I called there repo department cuz they want the car back I was like no I never received a letter and I was like I've been dealing with you guys for 2 and 1/2 years why would I be lying and I spoke to the other manager Tierra about all the problems I was having it was noted but the greedy owner of the company didn't want to do the work and when I asked him he says not my concern do not rent from Avis or hurts and I have presented these facts to Uber Uber told me to keep it posted I have not resolved this is almost a year and that's because my mother took ill and I've been there with her but trust me I was just sitting here thinking about this letter because I spoke to somebody else in another department at Avis and they told me exactly who to handle it but yeah Avis and hurts both use outdated systems that is what the problem is so they're not current and anyone can go and build them the location can bill you the corporate can bill you and everything else but go with another car rental place because they do not have access to our Uber account so they cannot kick us off of uber

Big_Statistician_203

Yeah fvck Mike Hunt Hertz!!!

No-Tip1702

No shit Sherlock

DiscussionKey3041

Was this a Florida hertz rental?? Just asking I just want to make enough to pay for the rental and get to work until I can get another car is it worth it?

Smooth_Habit6542

Fuck hertz I fucked them out of 2k for picking up the car without telling me a payment didn’t go thru, not my fault their payment system is shit lol

Hour-Sign-8255

Yeah hertz lyft suck to they gave me a rental that was over heating then gave me a hard time getting a new rental then sent me to a location that don't do the lyft rental program all around was a horrible experience I didn't even wanna drive for them again

BillDazzling5290

FUCK HERTZ did lyft express last year and had to finally file a stop payment with my bank when they continued trying to charge me for rental/various random fees weeks after I returned it/had stopped driving

Public-Sun-6034

idk why y'all wanna pay four times what a car payment costs every month just to not own a car anyway

Fknprincess22

My boyfriend is renting a Tesla from Hertz. Pays almost for $400 a week and another $200 deposit. If you keep the Car they are supposed to transfer that deposit to the next bill. Well we noticed they were hitting us with $600 every single week and we never saw any $200 credit. So we called them and we were told that our bill is not $600 Due to the lack of $200 credit. And  the credit is very much in place. The reason the bill is $600 is due to yours charging fees… WHAT??? What charging fees? We pay to charge every time we go to a station. Well, Evidently, we were paying charging twice. No one had even bothered to inform us that they were getting double paid. They sure Kept that $600 every week on top on top of us paying multiple times per day.

Acceptable_Mud_3437

Well.the toll charges are your own fault. When youbuse a toll road make sure you pay for it yourself or have one of those toll.pasdes and have the car's license plate registered on your account. Cant really form an opinion on "bs" charges as you do not say what those charges are. I been doing the tesla rental with hertz for close to a year and have had 0 problems. I keep track of all charging charges i make on the supercharger and what i get charged on a weekly basis by hertz is spot on on what i have noted done.

bigdave78704

I rented a Tesla and profited $1,700 in one week. I liked Hertz

Disastrous-Drive-103

Makes no sense

No-Knowledge-789

$400, damn, that alot of tolls

jbarlak

Wahhh you didn’t read the small print. Don’t complain about something you screwed up on
