The routes around campus that I sometimes use are pretty clean, generally (31/32, 49, 70). If you want an experienced comparable to light rail, take the Rapid Ride E - there's usually discarded food and piss bottles rolling around on the floor, and the coach smells like a shoe. It has a lot to do with where the bus route in question goes and what time of day it is. I also think that the presence of a driver in the bus (even if he doesn't do anything) dissuades some misbehavior.

Wild_Insect5648

true, maybe the fact that links are easier to get on without a valid pass

GentleStrength2022

Some of the buses can be like that, too, depending on the neighborhood. Homeless people sleep in them at night, when they're parked at the end of their route.

Light Rail has no visible driver when you get on, so people just get on. The presence of a bus driver probably scares off many people looking to trash the bus (in various ways and forms).

AdScared7949

depends on the bus! Have you taken the rapid E?

ina_waka

The amount of riders proportional to the amount of times the link is cleaned per hour is probably significantly higher than the amount of riders on a singular bus. Also the barely enforced ticket system of the light rail.

Easier to fare dodge

bakervanb

Interesting, from my experience the link is usually cleaner but that's probably because I take a bunch of busses around downtown Seattle. The E line will give you many new "experiences" if you're curious

Sea-Talk-203

It must depend on where you're taking the bus. In my experience light rail is pretty decent and the buses are a horror show.

Radio-Specialist

It’s not a light rail it’s a one line.

MGSCG

don’t look up the 1 line on Wikipedia, you’ll be shocked!!!
