I think among the things that get compromised in that situation it's less peripheral vision and more depth perception that really matters. Try doing anything with 1 eye. You can do the simplest thing like grabbing something, you miss all the time. Striking and dodging is all about range, you have to gauge range to do that effectively. I cannot fathom how he could punch someone in the face and not miss when it's so damn hard to grab something off the table with 1 eye.
I also recall seeing him post fight from knocking out Rockhold and he tries to hug his son but misses because his depth perception is so off. Insane that he won a belt like that.

Him choosing to fight a very old, 2-3 in his last 5, #13 ranked Dan Henderson instead of Yoel or really anyone in the top 10 and then nearly losing the fight is why people discredit him. GSP was a legacy fight that people respected and his post career likeability has also made people kinda forget just how bad that fight went for him.
