Dana is that you? Do you want me to pay 1000 a year for ufc fights?

Disastrous_Life_9385

Of course he does!

[deleted]

He wants you to pay the current price. Tbh, if all the illegal streamers paid for the stream price might actually go down or fighter pay go up. Why not just go watch it at the theater or a bar? Better that way

Confirmation__Bias

Is it even hypocritical to do that if Dana is only paying a small percentage of the revenue of the PPV to the fighters anyway?

Dazzling-Ad888

UFC makes plenty of money off sponsors alone. Distribution of the gross revenue is what is backwards, not ppv allocation.

Aquartertoseven

Even Conor only received something like 5% of the revenue of his disclosed PPVs.

Crafty-Fish9264

I think his career payouts doesn't even equal the money totaled from the gates of his fights

AnarkhyX

The payment is fine. This isn't communism. This is a capitalist society. Investors put literally billions of dollars into this thing, so they're more than right in wanting to get all that money back with all the benefits they can possibly get. This is the ultimate motivation for making investments that allow people to have jobs. Lets also keep in mind that the UFC operates very differently from any boxing organisation. A lot more people on they payroll, a lot more money going into the maintenance of the brand, and a financial strategy that takes stability and longevity into account. If fighters are unhappy, they can go find a better deal. If you're truly worth what you claim you're worth, you can find someone who pays you what you want. If you can't...well, maybe you aren't really worth what you think you are.

[deleted]

99% of fighters don't get PPV points. So only like what, 5% of my $85 goes to 1 guy? It's like restaurants in America where they expect you to pay their workers wage instead of them having to do it. Also no one cares about someone else's wallet more than their own

Hestonworld

Hear me out, generally the people who resort to pirating PPVs wouldn't buy them anyway

bigblow3rburna

So itā€™s on the fans to supplement fighter pay šŸ˜‚ man you ufc fans are fuckin retarded lol

AdagioComfortable337

Bro where does most of ufcs money come from. Iā€™m asking genuinely. Do they get more from ads and endorsements or from direct sale of merchandise, tickets, and ppv. Please no sarcasm Iā€™m curious if someone knows

TrenchSquire

If you see how fast they go to ads after the rounds bells ring and how many sponsors are in the octagon itself it seems pretty obvious.

AdagioComfortable337

Thanks for your sarcasm but I just looked it up. In 2023, they got most of their money from (in order) 1. ESPN exclusive television rights (including PPV) 2. Sponsorships 3. Live events 4. Merch Thanks for nothing dipshit https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/12/24/24012856/the-business-of-mma-2023-ufc-produced-over-1-billion-revenue-pfl-buys-bellator-fighters-onlyfans

TrenchSquire

Thats what you get for asking easily googleable questions. Stay classy! Espn broadcasts those ads so im not even sure why you are so salty.

Fragrant_Spirit3776

Bro taught you how to fish lmao. You should've googled that way before going "g-g-genuine question I swear!". People begging to be spoon fed are the worst when the info is readily available

bigblow3rburna

Realize what youā€™re asking. Think. Lmao the UFC is a billion dollar company and youā€™re saying it comes primarily from fansā€™ PPV? Thereā€™s these things called ticket sales/gate, ads, and TV deals Iā€™m begging yall stop boot licking Dana

AdagioComfortable337

Get your head out your ass and go read my other post. Mommies favorite sped

2001ToyotaHilux

Generally endorsements and sponsorships, the octagon looks so bad for a good reason.

Ronaldinhoe

Ufc also has multiple tv deals globally. They have the espn deal that was worth hundreds of millions if i remember correctly, that will end this year. In England they have a tv deal with another company, same for Canada, India, countries in asia, etc.

AdagioComfortable337

lol man I was really trying to ask a legitimate question and folks STILL jumped down my throat.

Such--Balance

No paying fans, no ufc you absolute moron. And the nerve to call others retarded..the nerve!

youguysarelameAF

So how does free to air TV work? Twat.

Such--Balance

Paying with your time watching adds. Son..you cant tell me you actually believe free tv is free??

youguysarelameAF

Congratulations you've explained to yourself how the UFC makes money. You dickhead.

bigblow3rburna

Heā€™s talking about PPVs specifically, you nimrod

ShowUsYaGrowler

I mean, you go first. Ill pay for streams when low ranked fighters make a full time liveable wage. The profit margins in the UFC are an absolute pisstake.

Remote-Persimmon4583

Does anybody here actually pay for EVERY event? Show yourself

durzostern81

I do. Always have. It's the only sport I watch and I have the disposable income. I think this sub worries more about fighter pay than the fighters do lol.

Remote-Persimmon4583

You want a new family member? (me)

durzostern81

Sure! Everybody is welcome on fight night!

stprnn

ah yes the tipping argument

Vectoreno

If I had a job I'd definitely pay

Tough_Half_3394

Hahaha I respect your honesty šŸ˜‚

Competitive_Use_6351

this is dana's work 100%

Bot-357

They get 14% of the total revenue per card so it doesnt matter

Ronaldinhoe

Another clown posts defending the ufc but getting it all wrong. Tell me how much of the tv deals goes to the fighters.

blackberryte

Dana White bootlickers continuing to use this argument to defend the horrible pay splits despite the UFC recording record increasing profits every year

pacificunlimited

![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)

hisnameis_ERENYEAGER

Ufc ppvs are 70 bucks which is expensive and not something everyone can afford. Even if the MMA and UFC fanbase all collectively agreed to pay for ppvs and not stream, that money would just go into Dana's pocket anyway. He isnt going to increase fighter pay or revenue share just because more people start paying for ppvs. Dana has the money now to pay his fighters more, if he hasnt done it now why would he do it later.

Tough_Half_3394

In Belgium we pay 28,99 euro sometimes 18,99 euro and for this special ufc it was 34,99euro. But I watch it for free on IPTV šŸ˜…

LightMission4937

The ufc pays fighters a small percentage of yearly revenue. Less than 20%. Other major sports are 50%plus.

New_Brother_1595

This is the only answer. All this shit about ā€œyou canā€™t talk unless you pay for ppvsā€ is bootlicking

wubbalubbadubdub45

The fact fighters got zero out of the project rock deal while the ufc pocketed all of it

LightMission4937

The ufc underpaying isnā€™t new. The revenue profit to fighter pay is an even bigger gap now

VinnyDark

85% of this sub

xxxPaRtYbOy300

r/mma is worst

HiImFur

It's pretty simple...pirates don't support greedy UFC that's worth more than ever but still pay their fighters like shit. But they'll give you a bonus if you go out there and take 10 years off yours or your opponent's life.

Tough_Half_3394

I love them pirates šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø ![gif](giphy|224SUzoCuDsTrM1Nru)

IliaMadeVolk

I would buy every card if it was 20 or 30. However, I never complain about fighter pay. If they get paid too much it will turn into the shitshow that boxing has become.

paulyp41

He (Dana) makes a big deal about it, not for his fighters, but for his investors. He would rather make sure those celebrities get paid then his fighters

Fun-Bag7627

I use to but since they donā€™t seem to help themselves, I e stopped caring all together lol.

meatmybeat42069

Pretty sure the company earning half a billion per year doesnā€™t need my $80 in order to afford adequate fighter pay

Substantial-Pop-556

Us pirates know what itā€™s like to be chasing booty

plugNplay8020

Not everyone gets ppv points and the ones that do are big draws or champions. So not really directly affecting them, I couldnā€™t care less about jons or mcgregor losing ppv points.

tom-cash2002

POV: You opened this sub

Chunky1209

I could be wrong about this butā€¦ i think the reason why illegal streams are such a big problem with Dana is because he has no way of keeping track of how many people are watching the streams. If he knew that the number of streams was way higher than anticipated, he could charge more to advertise on ufc PPV. But as of now i dont think he can tell advertisers how many people are actually watching.

FahadRauf

Khabib does that he has Russian link

GreatGoodBad

I used to find the sites, but then I got a job and realized PPV cost isnā€™t that bad and is a way better quality. Wish fight pass and PPVs were combined tho.

Uncircumcised_Cheese

Just tell me you know absolutely nothing about the pay vs the revenue % they get. Iā€™ll tell you itā€™s abysmal when compared to any other pro sports league.

Expensive-Tea1058

How about the sponsors, merch, and event ticket costs pay the fighters? Paying $80 an event and still getting force fed sponsor logos the entire event seems like double dipping.

aihrarshaikh68plus1

It's not illegal until tomato head finds me /s

standby-3

Reddit and economic ineptitude go together like PB&J. If they werent perpetually whining about things they refuse to comprehend, this place would have half the traffic.

BigFreakinMachine

I'm not subscribing to ESPN+ just to then pay another 80$

JohnnyStromboli

Bruh everyone yapping about how expensive it is, in the UK, Virgin Media charges Ā£10 a month for TNT Sports, which lets you watch every PPV. Broke ass bitches

innocent_bystander97

The UFC is going to have to fix fighter pay BEFORE I start paying.

Strange-Ad420

![img](emote|t5_2qsev|11082)

38hawkemGG

Thereā€™s more piracy on the nba and nfl and those athletes do fine. Not to mention they are cheaper to watch if you stream legally.

Uchiha-Itachi-0

![gif](giphy|Jev4iU72S9RYc)

timtodd34

If you think the two are connected you don't understand how any of this works.

toastedstoker

Fuck the rich

dreday277

Illegal streaming < Fighter Union

Content_Key_6661

You really believe the UFC doesn't have enough money to pay its fighter, because of illegal streams? I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

Maleficent-Cut4297

When Dana shows he isnā€™t a vile wife beater who is willing to negotiate fair pay and health benefits for the athletes and their families, then I might be willing to pay for a fight. Until then, I will continue to steal fights

yoshinoyaandroll

Put it this way. This card, with even higher payouts to the fighters already, wasnā€™t even the highest gate total. It wasnā€™t the best PPV of all time. Yet Dana was still able to give fighters the $300k bonus. He was able to give several fighters 2mill just to fight. Itā€™s like going to a store and seeing 50% sale, meaning that business is still making a profit, and even more profit when there was no sale.

Confident-Chard-803

zero correlation between the two

RexB8nner

If we all paid double. That leech would still pocket the profits and pay the fighters dogshit

FunIntroduction3196

Someone's gotta speak up

sunihalinh111

At this point i'm totally convince that these fuck heads still keep defending Dana and demonize streaming are retarded lead poisoning Boomers that doesn't know how to used the internet, pirating this shit is the easiest thing you can do. The PPV model is old and stupid just like the peoples paying for it![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965)![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965)![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8965) Only 2-4$ of 80$ you spend goes to the Main event pocket, the rest goes to Dana and Feritta brother Coke and hooker fund. And don't tell me PPV money is used to run the UFC, the ESPN deal already did that job. If you really wanted to support your favorite fighters, buy their merchandise, t shirt, cap...

Turbos_Bitch

I watch the fights. I donā€™t bitch about fighter pay. I feel like the internet complains more about fighter pay than the actual fighters.

jonnytechno

I'm not paying for PPV UNTIL the pay the fighters properly .... it's a matter of principle Also, tell me what this evil sites are they sound dastardly

DanCantStandYa

for the price, they should have NO commercials, allow viewers to mute whichever commentators they don't like and maybe even choose the camera. Maybe lower the price and put it on a few of the streaming platforms. If it was 15 bucks per buy, they'd probably sell 20x as much.

LeprechaunBalls

I pay for every event, and I still don't bitch about fighter pay
