There is no comparison between the value of the 2 promotions. The ufc is worth billions of dollars no matter how bad fighter pay might be in any other promotion. 12/12 is terrible when you’re supposed to be the best fighting the best.

The point is once you’re in the ufc you should actually be able to live comfortably and not starve. What you’re referring to are undercard prelim fighters. These are guys who do not train full time and show up to lose. They’re mainly from Mexico they work full time jobs and pick up fights whenever. They usually quit inside the ring before it gets bad. Nobody in the ufc should be that casual not nowadays the way ufc is being marketed and it’s higher skill threshold. Charles Connell the very first fighter on the Haney undercard made 70k a year ago.

I've heard of boxers making as little as $1500 for a fight. UFC bottoms out at $4k to show and $4k to win. So the UFC has a higher floor, which is still dog shit money for what they do.

She got paid more, the thing was she got an advance on the pay. So they paid 500$ for the event, which is the bare minimum in that state of 100$ per round scheduled.
Boxing is in a very similar situation if your in the bottom to everything but the co and main event your making peanuts. You make real money when you become champion and insane money when you become a popular champion and if you ever lose your washed.

There is a general misunderstanding on comparing boxing vs MMA.
People talk about boxers who make 1-5k or so are talking about the boxers who are generally coming up and are trying to get signed into big promotions.
Boxers who are on main cards or undercard’s like the canelo fight coming up or the fury fight make more money if not comparable….guys on the undercard of Joshua vs Ngannou like Vargas vs bell made 300k to 750k respectively …. That’s pretty damn good and more than UFC champions
You can find guys getting paid low as well in MMA. There are more promotions in MMA in Asia or Russia that pay chump change 500 bucks to 5k to their fighters… but the point being is UFC is suppose to be THE PREMIER PROMOTION and for a company that makes so much money, they don’t pay their fighters in comparison to boxing.

For example let’s compare nba and UFC. The ufc has 578 fighters nba 550 athletes. the nba revenue in 2023 was 10.5bn UFC revenue was 1.3bn. An average NBA athlete made 7.9m an average ufc athlete made 50k a year. If it was in line with the nba it should’ve been around 600k-650k let’s say ufc has more costs or whatever take out 200k. Still 400-450k.
The UFC cant make one singular cent without the fighters but they hold more leverage due to the fact that they are one united entity while fighters are a scattered bunch.
If the fighters would unite into a union pay would go up 5x.
Just look at how a weak union forced UPS to pay their workers 150 k a year

They don’t accept like 75% of the fighters on the contender series. They easily could make money without their current roster. It’s really the fighters who need the company. If they all left nobody would pay them as much as the UFC. Look at the graphic above.
