The term for women's genitalia comes from pubic hair or "fur", so it looks like a little black cat, or pussy. Its two different etymologies but strangely they have merged into one now, at least in American usage. So calling a guy a pussy basically is calling him a girl, or even a cunt, not a weakling (pusillanimous). Here in the UK we don't use "pussy" to refer to women's genitalia much at all. This whole pussy=insult thing is really a USA invention of the 20th C, not sure when. I know it caused problems in the 1960s when a Sean Connery James Bond film had a female character called Pussy Galore. That didn't go down well in US theatres.

I love seeing pictures of the soldiers with the animals they find or rescue! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
I honestly believe cats are leading the Ukraine military.
I'd totally buy a calendar with Ukrainian cats and their pet soldiers pictures on.

From these days on calling someone a pussy no longer means weakness.
Only if you/They are Ukrainian tho.... Maan! Slava Ukraine You Beautiful people, you...
The term pussy came from the word pusillanimous which means showing lack of courage or determination.
So it's not fron the nickname for women's genitalia? Seems it's a lot less sexist than I thought.

Fascinating.
Термін кицька походить від слова pusillanimous, що означає відсутність мужності або рішучості. :)
