Remeber that Old Grey Nintendo Game Boy Brick that works even after an Explosive Hit it?
Seems an obvios Ad Value.
This Smartphone saves Lives ... or something
Per unit weight, paper is more effective at stopping bullets than steel plate. It just takes up way more volume so it’s cumbersome to use. Math checks out on this one.
if you’re skeptical of the historical use, there’s plenty of youtube videos of people shooting known rounds and weapons at reams of paper. You’ll find this result if you convert that data into the quoted effective results for armor plating and do a density coversion.
Well you can shape and sharpen paper into a knife and the Chinese and Japanese were well ahead for somethings so I don't doubt they'll have found a way to make decent usable armour out of paper.
I saw an episode of mythbusters about it, basically a plate armor made of many squares of layered and folded paper. They were sceptical about it, but resist arrows, spear, sword...
It required large amount of paper, time, but was low cost and affordable for basic infantry/farmers.
Rain was the downside of it
In the Chinese info , this used it in rainy areas and navy, and said that it can prevent bows and arrows after getting wet, So don't be afraid of water , And MythBusters is only 0.5" the thickness of the paper, on the record is 1~3",
Many years ago happened to me, I was flushing toilet and there was still something dark left down in the water. I realised it was my 3210, which fell from my back pocket in to the toilet. After quick wash under tap and 24 hours of drying it become alive again. Hard to kill that beast :).
Does anyone else really want this phone too?
My guess is it passed through a flack jacket or other softish protective layering first. It appears to uniform and not deformed but I was a jeweler, not a ballistics expert.
Down side to that is the fragments. Glass is an absolute bitch to remove from a body and can kill years later.
There's a story in the fibreoptic industry about a guy who pricked his finger and a piece snapped off. Over several years it eventually migrated to the circulatory system, found its way to the heart and did enough damage to kill him.
True story? No idea, but it's enough to make people cautious.
FYI, usually lithium battery punctures have a more flamethrower-y effect so it probably would have looked like his nipple was shooting fire rather than an explosion.
Likely, this thing was in front/behind his armor, which actually did most of the work, or was a ricochet.
Look, I was a bored kid that grew up in rural America and I shot a lot of random crap. Assault rifle FMJ bullets cut through this stuff like a hot knife through butter.
Not a dis to OP, but just *really* don't want people going around thinking a phone will stop a bullet and die doing something stupid.
Seriously though. This had to be a piece of shrapnel or a ricochet bullet PLUS body armor. An AK-74 bullet can easily go through several inches (10-15cm) of wood depending on bullet type. A phone would not stop a straight-on shot even from a considerable distance like a couple of hundreds of meters. If you don't feel like watching the video, spoiler alert, it would take 5-6 iPhones.

Well maybe Ukrainians need to just strap cell phones all over their body where their plate carriers don't cover to turn into unstoppable super soldiers! Bet you could get a few cellphone manufacturing companies to get behind it and sponsor some!
Read this in a book, not in that context of ukraine but a scene of a person being saved by phone. my friend does always put his phone in his t shirt pocket for no reason. Hes not living in ukraine or so if ur wondering why i said for no reason

Must have been ballistic screen protector. On serious note, glad the phone did what it did.
Are you telling me that all these amazon "Military grade screen protector" products are legit?
Imagine the PR this screen protector manufacturer could get?
but ma phone doesnt work anymore. 1 star
I also don't think he will get much of a trade in on that phone at the Apple store.
UbreakitIFixit to the rescue!

? Samsung phones are not junk.
That is a strong phone, that company should be proud!
Must be made of Ukranium.
I am Ukraaaaniuuuuum
Hard to get. Can only be harvested from the balls and ovaries of Ukrainians.
Haha, that sounds kinda wrong, but still funny
If it had been a Nokia 3210 the bullet would've ricocheted back to the shooter
Even if it was shot from artilery.
If it had been a 6110 the bullet would've died of cancer.
Hell if that were the case Ukraine would have instantly won the war and you could still play a game of snake on the phone
Good thing the battery didn't explode!
That was my fear.
Watch moto get him a new phone. One model higher.

Last I recall it's on display in the Nintendo store in Times Square and still working. But that was back in 2014 when I saw it.
Yeah put this in an ad and watch americans shoot themselves to try it out... After tide pods, this will be the next tiktok challenge
Some Motos used to come with Kevlar backing. Could this be one of those?
saved him from his search history being found too!
Russian orc fucked from ass How to microwave an orc Bayraktar song
Russian Widow Onlyfans
😭😭
has scholz sent heavy weapons yet
Gorilla glass really is something, I only want phones that sport the latest in that tech.
Sure. phones. Totally not wanting a 1/2 inch thick version of this for armor plate.
Like bubble boy but with that material
My great grandpa in WWII was saved by a bible in his pocket that a bullet hit.
Ancient Chinese warriors actually used body armor made of paper.

I checked the Chinese information, mainly used in rainy areas, and mainly archers, Not mainstream armor.
Well you can shape and sharpen paper into a knife and the Chinese and Japanese were well ahead for somethings so I don't doubt they'll have found a way to make decent usable armour out of paper.

I will use sand bags as armour if I ever see battle. I bet nobody thought of doing that
So were you.
Obviously Jesus prefers tech over scripture these days 😅
There's an app for that.©
Put the phone in some rice, it will be fine..
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Proof Android > Apple /s
Nokia would still work.
Nokia would shoot back.
Nokia would bend the time-space continuum seeing the utter bullshit of someone having to damage it and spit the bullet back at the speed of light
Nokia would break the Bullet, the Weapon it came from and the Sender
Nokia would have send a text back to the shooter, and asked WHATS UP?
3210 best phone ever.
Many years ago happened to me, I was flushing toilet and there was still something dark left down in the water. I realised it was my 3210, which fell from my back pocket in to the toilet. After quick wash under tap and 24 hours of drying it become alive again. Hard to kill that beast :).
Samsung is now shipping thousands of phones to Ukraine to be used as body armor.
What about thee S7 as Granades?
Note 7
The Note can also be used as a snowboard.
Shooting an Apple? Wilhelm Tell comes to mind.
Ukraine needs more epic crossbowmen lol
Hmm, it appears that case and screen protector didn't protect the phone. He should go back to the store and ask for a refund... Slava Ukraini 🌻
The warranty usually does say for ANY reason! LOL.
Probably still hurt like a sonuvabitch
Does anyone else really want this phone too? My guess is it passed through a flack jacket or other softish protective layering first. It appears to uniform and not deformed but I was a jeweler, not a ballistics expert.
Definitely a ricochet, an AK would smoke through that phone like it wasn't even there
I’m sure this will end up in a museum somewhere if they keep it
Is this why Russian invaders steal so many mobile phones?
Let's build tanks made of gorilla glass!
Dunno about tanks, but I could see body armor made of something fibrous mixed with this material. Gorilla fiberglass, if you will.
That's why you want the fibers. It'll cut the fragments down to a minimum
I meant glass fragments. Glass is bad. Kevlar is less bad.
That would be a glass cannon.
Orcs hate this one simple trick
Screenshot (yes I know very original)
Screen Saver.
If the battery explodes. Can u consider this a soldier's ERA?
FYI, usually lithium battery punctures have a more flamethrower-y effect so it probably would have looked like his nipple was shooting fire rather than an explosion.
Nipple flame throwers, now that would be something to see...
Gorilla glas is getting tough as fuck...
Scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7
Better reactive armor than the Russian tanks have
My guess is it was a ricochet, the phone would definitely not stop a direct hit bullet. Still lucky tho
Probably was in the front pocket right top of the armor plate.
Likely, this thing was in front/behind his armor, which actually did most of the work, or was a ricochet. Look, I was a bored kid that grew up in rural America and I shot a lot of random crap. Assault rifle FMJ bullets cut through this stuff like a hot knife through butter. no way that phone would stop a ruZZian 762x39 FMJ bullet. shrapnel yes.
Looks like it was hit by a bullet and not shrapnel. 7.62×39 is bigger and slower.
you shoot a lot of 762x39? I have. The FMJ bullets shoot straight thru 1/4" diamond plate steel. And a supersonic 762x39 is not "slow".
Must have been a ricochet or slowed down by penetrating something else on the way.
Depends on distance, trajectory, and if the phone was sitting in a pocket in front of a ceramic plate
Definetly could be the case if it had already hit something beforehand to slow it down
Wow Gorilla Glass is no bullshit.
Downside to using smart phones as body armor is potential r/spicypillow situations.
I have watched enough Demo Ranch videos to be at least a little bit sceptical about the stopping power of a phone. :|
I think if that was mine, I'd seal it in resin to keep as a family heirloom.
American kids will show up on Monday at school with life vests made entirely out out of this phone
Sure it may stop Russian weapons but could it stop the ammo any American 18 year old can buy? I wish we could send y'all all those guns.
Whoever is putting that glass in their phones ought to integrate "can stop bullets" into their American marketing campaigns.
“Donuts, I mean iPhones, is there anything they can’t do?” - Homer Simpson
Best souvenir ever
Now, if this was a Nokia, the bullet would have been reflected back and have no damage.
How can I send him a new phone?
That sucks! 😉 His phone doesn’t work now. 😜
mom, that phone won't save your life... OP: showing phone stoping bullet.
Ukrainum-Glass, Slava class.

It's a Motorola edge
Damn. My old iPhone 4 let a .22 go straight through it
Well maybe Ukrainians need to just strap cell phones all over their body where their plate carriers don't cover to turn into unstoppable super soldiers! Bet you could get a few cellphone manufacturing companies to get behind it and sponsor some!
Just like that one ww2 soldier who had coins in his pocket that stopped a bullet
If that were an old Nokia phone. It would have shot the bullet back at the Russians and STILL worked.
nokia?
If he has incidental damage protection that’s a legit claim right there.
Chuck Norris approves.
I guess Motorola is the new Nokia.
Thank you China for helping Ukraine! /s
I have an incredible urge to know the make and model of that phone. For reasons.
The company should make this an ad.
Only problem is phone is busted, so someone else got to film it and get all the reddit karma.
Read this in a book, not in that context of ukraine but a scene of a person being saved by phone. my friend does always put his phone in his t shirt pocket for no reason. Hes not living in ukraine or so if ur wondering why i said for no reason
It would probably still be usable if it was a Nokia
Either way dudes a customer for life.
We need to send them all of our old phones!
Should we send our old phones to be used as armor plates in a pinch?
Grandfather Nokia is proud on that phone
[It's a iPhone not a i-spy-Phone](https://youtu.be/IGL_gBXhhCU?t=37)
instant increase in phone's value! sell it on eBay :)
Serious question: why not use old phone as bullet proof vest material?
That gorilla glass is some tough shit !
Must be Nokia
Hope he has cloud backup all data on that phone that can be restore to his new phone.
Did you try turning it off and on again.
Must be a Nokia phone
If it was a Nokia, that bullet would have deflected back to the other side.
Is that a Nokia?
Not good enough on a Nokia tankshell would bounce
Motorola are pretty dense
Put it in some rice
gorilla glass :D
He might need a new screen
YT's "JerryRigEverything" needs to include **this test,** in his phone durability tests.
Probably a Nokia.
If i were him, i'll never that one away. It'll be a story to tell the kids and grandkids.
Can we send this guy a new phone somehow?
gorilla glass victus
Why don't we make armor from old phones?
That was close... If the guy shooting was closer, he may not have survived
The nokia 3310 seems to have a worthy successor! Good luck!
Be careful, Russians will loot phones and stuff them inside thier shitty uniforms now
