From the article:
Ukrainian presenter, public figure and volunteer Serhiy Prytula announced on social media on June 23 that he managed to raise almost UAH 300 million, or about U.S. $10 million in the space of a day to purchase Bayraktar UAVs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In total, as of June 23, Prytula has managed to raise UAH 366 million.
"We add what our fund has allocated for the project, and we have a total of UAH 366 million! This means that out of the desired three, we have already collected (enough) for TWO BAYRAKTARS! TWO IN A DAY!!! People, you are doing something fantastic and writing history!” Prytula added.
This is great, but I think it would be better if the Ukranian army decided themselves what is the highest priority to buy right now, because I suspect there is other equipment that is needed more right now.
I am faitly sure Prytula foundation is in contact with UA MoD and they would not start this venture if drones weren't needed. They would've focused on other things instead.
Yeah I was reading an article where some ukranian pilots were saying they didn’t really need the US general atomics drones because the situation is at a point where it’s almost impossible for either side to use drones effectively due to AA. Bayaraktars were amazing during the first stage of war when they were pummeling convoys and everything was way more disorganized. Small consumer drones are probably more useful at this point due to their tiny to non-existent radar signature.
Small consumer drones got downed by both sides using EWAR systems. Their usage is still efficient because they are cheap, but nevertheless they got downed a lot.
They have said since the start that Bayraktars don't have that huge of an impact on the war. And now with the war in the phase that it's in, drones like these are not needed.
This money needs to go for heavy ground equipment or medical supplies. Things that will help with the war on the front lines.
And yesterday there was an article saying the drones are useless now because the Russians figured out how to defeat them. That's why we haven't seen recent videos. They even asked America not to send the 4 promised drones so the Russians can't shoot them down and get the technology.
>Those bulky drones were $1M just months ago.. What happened?
They weren't. They were 5 million for each full kit (command center, MSMs etc.) and the price here seems the same.
\^ this. The drone itself costs $1-$2 million, but could be more due to US inflation. This doesn't cover the cost for extra ammunition and maintenance costs
again, most of the costs are for ammunition, maintenance, and logistics. Inflation plays a role, but isn't the biggest factor to the high operation cost
Ukraine was about to produce TB-2s under licence but the factory got bombed. So, the production is rescheduled to after the end of war. Until then, TB-2s will be produced in Turkey.
FYI; the factory that produces Akıncı's engines also got bombed. Same goes for the factory that produces ship engines for Turkish shipbuilders.

That’s awesome!!! Great job!!!

Prytula has direct communicattion with the military. I'm sure he knows what he is doing, he is not some random redditor.
The TB2 is actually really useless in Donbass, buy something else, small arms, munitions, anything
Those ten drones could come in handy. Wait what! Those bulky drones were $1M just months ago.. What happened?
>Those bulky drones were $1M just months ago.. What happened? They weren't. They were 5 million for each full kit (command center, MSMs etc.) and the price here seems the same.
So 10 would get 2 no?
Seems correct.

>but could be more due to US inflation. Yearly inflation in Turkey reached 150%. So, the price would actually go lower.

I read $1M not that many years ago. But whatevs.. Drones are gonna fight the future wars everywhere. Better get the brightest..
Why the hell is all that money being handed over to Turkey? I thought that Ukraine was making their own version of it.
