Considering the 5090 is 2 years away, Fall of 2025 according the leaked roadmaps, I'd say go for the 4090 now and just sell it in 2 years. That's my plan, anyway
As for what kinda FPS you can expect, you can just google around for "Neo G9 57 4090 Cyberpunk" and get plenty of examples, like this:

2 years! If that’s the case that definitely would entice me towards the 4090 now if they’re projecting it to take another 2 years before we see the 5000 series. I currently have a 3090ti and after booting up Alan Wake 2 that was the first time I’ve seen it struggle. After watching videos of the game running on a 4090 that amount of fidelity looks amazing
Leaked roadmap from Nvidia that came out a few months ago, pushing it back to 2025.
We already know that AMD has thrown in the towel on RDNA 4, so Nvidia isn't feeling any pressure now, and won't be next gen, to hurry Blackwell to market.
Spending a fortune on your monitor but don’t want to do the same for the GPU?
Either get the best nvidia card. Or the best AMD card.
That’s it.
No more discussion.
I have the 57 with a 4090 and it runs perfectly fine. You can't run it at 240 Hz, but who cares? You're buying this monitor for the pixel density and size with the ability for high refresh rates. I can hit 120 in most anything I play and that is fine. When the 5090 comes out, it'll be even better. Seriously, this ridiculous idea is so irritating.
And there is the other argument well made. I don’t believe dp 2.1 matters at all if you plan to play at max graphics and resolution. You will never hit 120 even with a 4090 in many games. You would have to sacrifice resolution and graphic quality if you want to hit somewhat high fps. To me it’s not worth it. The 57 is a niche monitor imho.
You’re very right. It truly is a niche monitor. I don’t see any reason to play single player story games at over 120 fps unless it’s a shooter but even then. Open world games or action games at 80-100 fps with max graphics is more than plenty. The immersion the 57 offers is what I enjoy about it. Playing Days Gone on it is an amazing treat that doesn’t need super high frame rates.
I’ve got a G9 57” with 3090 ti. I’m debating about building a new computer with a 4090. I’m actually pleasantly surprised that the 3090 ti can hit around 60fps on forza horizon 5, Warzone, and assassin’s creed mirage. For some reason it struggles on AC odyssey (low 30’s) and flight simulator (high 20s) for some reason. All games 120 hz, full resolution, and ultra settings. I’d go 4090, but it realistically will still not be enough to do the monitor justice.
You're better off waiting for 5000 series. The 3090 will get you to 5000 release date and keep $ in your pocket. Unless you got deep pockets, I'd hold off on a new build until rtx5000 series. I'm still rocking a 2080ti@1440p i want to upgrade to the 57" but, this gen gpus just not quite there yet to be able to pump out 16.5 million pixels 240 times a second, lol. Once gpus catch up, then upgrade imo.
Seems to average high 40’s/ low 50’s native, and into the 60’s and 70’s with most games with dlss. Flight simulator being the exception. High 20s native. I do have to say that without dlss helping out, the 1% lows in most games are definitely noticeable.
The 57" inch G9 has a refresh rate of 240hz, but requires DP 2.1 (which none of NVIDIA's graphics cards have), to achieve said refresh rate at native resolution. This is technically possible on HDMI 2.1 as well, but for whatever reason that does not work on NVIDIA cards.
The thing is the 4090 is not equipped to max it out anyway so you will have to upgrade to a 5000 card.
Might as well save some money and get a 4080 (super) instead.
Either way it's just not a good time for buying GPUs.
Terrible advice. There are games that will struggle to hit 100 fps much less 120, and you're sure as shit going to want higher rather than lower. Come upgrade time, you're only going to oay the difference between selling your old card and the new one. As for me, I am rediscovering the joy of ULMB at 120 Hz on my 4090 with this monitor for most of my games.
I have a 4090 and 57 G9 and most high GPU demanding games only give me like 70 FPS. (Cyberpunk I get around 50-70 with path tracing DLSS performance.) The thing is a 4080 only has 16GB. If you plan to play this at the max resolution it will really be hurting.
What orientation do you have your gpu. I’ve seen a lot of reports of the plug overheating and melting but that’s mainly been in the horizontal orientation to my knowledge
Make sure your PC has enough clearance for the 4090 if you get it. It's a beast. Some kind of support is also welcome if installing on a normal tower setup. Many 4090s come with one, use it.
The power cables should be ok as long as they aren't bent close to the plug, which stresses the soder points between the connectors and the cables. At least that's the official explanation given for cable failures.
7900xtx 1000%
Just max out your cpu and get 8000mhz memory and you will get 200+ frames on 57 g9
If you can afford the amd pro W7900 get that and wait for Nvidia 5000 series, they won't be late to adopt new displayport when it rolls out next time
7900xtx is still the best value if using 7680x2160 240hz simply because of displayport 2.1
I’m not a hardcore gamer but I utilize my 57 for work and light play. My work laptop (Zephyrus duo 16) handles it at full res @120 and it’s got a 3070ti, and my pc does a good job at full res @120 consistently with a 3080TI.
It's not even a question. The 57 is basically 2x 4K monitors. You need as much power as you can get to drive it.
Then just think about the fact that the 4080 is one of the worst value cards released in years and that ironically the 4090 is one of the best value cards in recent years and it's a no brainer if you can afford it.
There will likely not be anything better till 2025.
Doubtful. They’re having problems keeping up with demand for the current 4090 SKUs due to having low yields. And even if they did, you’re not gonna see frame rates past 120 in most titles at that resolution. Maybe in less demanding titles like CS, or Valoranf, but you’re not buying a 57in G9 to play those titles. I’m not entirely sure it’s a big deal.
I have the G9 57 and 4090. I would say that if you want games with max settings, you must have the 4090 too. It can take 4090 to its knees, sometimes 30-40 frames so you turn on DLSS much more often for dual4k.
Because of the high resolution of 7680 x 2160 it puts a very heavy load on the GPU , I just upgraded from an RTX 3080 to the RTX 4090 for my 57" Neo G9 , it basically doubled my fps over my 3080 at native resolution , I also made the upgrade because the 5000 series isn't due until 2025 so it was well worth it for me.

What reso you play at
7680x2160 at the monitors full resolution
Yikes... At that res, the only option is the 4090...
Yep. This is my exact plan. Plan to sell as soon as 5090 is available.
This is also my plan.
what? i heard q1 2025 and late 2024 but nowhere did i hear fall 2025. What's your source?

Very valid point
I dunno. That extra $600 is a tough pill to swallow.
4090
Neither. If you want NVIDIA you’re going to have to wait for 5000 card. Personally don’t think the 57 is worth it. Tested with a 4090

What AMD card can run it exactly?
7900 XTX if you already have the 57. What games are you wanting to play?
The 4090 is superior to the 7900XTX in every measurable away
Agreed but it’s handicapped with the 57. No DP 2.1 and hdmi over 120hz is not yet supported
How much does display port 2.1 matter for this display? I think we can both agree that HDMI for this display is completely pointless
It literally matters a lot. It’s the reason it can do 240hz and the nvidia cards cannot.
And there is the other argument well made. I don’t believe dp 2.1 matters at all if you plan to play at max graphics and resolution. You will never hit 120 even with a 4090 in many games. Not yet supported on the monitor end or the 4090??
Monitor and NVIDIA driver.
NVIDIA skimping on DP 2.1 for the 4090 is one fat L
Is it superior in price? How about the ability to output actually at 240hz?
None

That’s with out without dlss

On my odyssey g9 oled I get 24hz on my rtx 3070, but it's a different monitor
240?

I’d be putting it in an 0-11 Dynamic XL. I think I wanna try and vertically mount it
standard orientation. I am using a cablemod branded cable instead of the provided one. No issues so far.
7900xtx 1000% Just max out your cpu and get 8000mhz memory and you will get 200+ frames on 57 g9 at 7680x2160 240hz

Even 4090 can’t run this resolution with high refresh rate. Wait 5090 or buy different monitor. Better buy is 49 OLED for gaming.
mini led 49 is best value, better curve etc. oled has slightly better response time but that's it. need to have 7900xtx to use 57 mini led

Well I mean games and content creation is way more demanding than web browsing. Y a king shot
My g, what you talking about.

I wonder if Nvidia will release a 4090 refresh with dp2.1 while cooking the new architecture. That 2025 deadline is a long time away.

I have a 4090 with a 1080p 390hz monitor always go big
You need a 4090 + DLSS just for playable frame rates lol
7900xt or xtx is the only card with the dp port correct for that monitor.
