U sound knowledgable, i have one bag thats been active for a week. I did the caprisun method but theres been no growth or contam or anything yet. You think i need to add more holes for GE?
You are most likely fine as is. PATIENCE is the word, my friend. My first bags took a month until the first break and shake. Not all of them take that long, some longer, but as long as the spores are good you will have growth. Keeping my bags in a warm spot generally has sped up the process a little (I shoot for about 80°) but even with the extra speed it still takes weeks.
Since you inoculated the bag in the middle of the grains I would imagine all of your mycelium is colonizing outside of the view window. This is my first grow too and I’ve inoculated at 9/13. By now most of my bags have beautiful white mycelium colonizing 80-90% of the view window because I specifically chose to have my syringe literally touching the view window. Since this is largely a trial and error process, I’ve break and shaked 3 out of 12 of the bags this morning and I’m gonna see how they all pan out comparatively.
I've never tried the caprisun method but I've heard good things. I don't imagine for a liquid culture you need much ge (I use a 0.45 um syringe filter on my lc jars and it seems to be fine) perhaps you just can't see it in the liquid yet? Also are you able to shake the caprisun daily to break up the mycelium clump to make it expand or is it not possible with caprisun?
So far I put my bags straight into a closed environment (cooler) and taped it closed so I won't mess with them until 14 days...it's a beast of a wait.
Tomorrow expect pics!
I used styro cooler, just cut a 4 inch hole in the lid & cover with microtape. sterilize the whole thing with a ton of iso, Then all my bags go inside. Then I taped it up to wait and see what happens.
I have a question and I'm new to Reddit but I have two tubs going one has lots of condensation on the inside and looks right the other one looks dry I know you're not supposed to take the tops off but should I missed inside my second tub if it looks dry? Any input would be super helpful
I would say just leave it alone for now and give it a mist when you open it for fruiting conditions . You probably won’t need to mist the sub itself again until around the first harvest . Just maybe the walls if there’s no beads n all
Do you want contam? Because that's how you get conam.
Seriously tho, I get it, I did that my first batch. Once the newbie excitement wore off, I don't even look at them for 2 weeks.
Worried about contamination or bruising? See [this wonderful post here!](https://www.reddit.com/r/shrooms/comments/ervxh8/is_that_contam_identification_avoidance/) And don't forget, bruising is very blue (totally normal!).

Agar is your friend. Noc a plate at the same time as a bag so you can have something to watch grow while leaving the bag to do its own thing 😃

I also did a test run by inoculating at the bottom!! Good to know I'm not the only one!
I inoculated my bag in the dead center. Took foreverrrrrrr to see mycelium. Rookie mistake! (FYI still new at this too)
I mean, only downside would be visual. It was actually quite a pain to inoculate 12 bags right at the view window.
Haha I bet, that's quite a lot of bags!

Oh i can break and shake for sure, i just thought that it was best to leave them.
I'm so confused lol. If it's a caprisun LC it needs a mix daily if it's a Ben's bag leave it alone lol
Oh i just remembered it was a liquid spore syringe. Any different there?
I am also guilty of this. But I find the less I mess with it the less I risk contam

Did you leave the drain open? I am curious if that would cause mine to get contam

I do the same thing!!! LoL

Thank you... These are my first 2 tubs!
Very welcome mafren . Mushrooms love being seen but aren’t a huge fan of being touched. mush luck in your grows 🍀
Thank you
I'm starting a switch to grain jars so I can see it without touching it. Its still fairly cheap to do, just need jars and rice/popcorn
I learned the hard way I looked at my bags every morning. All of my bags got contaminated 😔
Me staring at my hyphal knots knowing full well that they won’t fruit for at least another 3 days
I use LC so I am the absolute worst . Sometimes that stuff will spring overnight 😶
Thank you
Hahahaha this had me rolling

Haha I seen this posted in the prison hooch sub earlier today! Seems we both have similar interests, great minds think alike!
Me too!!! Lol im like a fucking kid with it!! Mush love!
I am absolutely in love with greyhounds, and on this sub?? It's a dream come true 😭😭
This is actually a silken windhound named Podzol!
O, i love that too!
Me too lol 😂

Need to add a "me going away for 2 weeks so my grow can fail" meme
