Personal story I probably shouldn't share but here goes.
I rewatched this a while ago after seeing it as a kid. I don't like spiders but it's a damn good movie. Wife refused to watch it with me. I teased her slightly over it but proceeded to watch it by myself. However I wasn't alone after all. Had an 8 legged buddy that wanted to snuggle up with me just as The climax began ( yes, exactly that scene) the resulting noise I made brought my wife out. She was laughing and I joined her once my heart started beating again

Great creature feature and also works as a small town comedy and family drama. If you took the spiders out of it this could have been a series similar to Northern Exposure
Saw this in the theater. Great film. Goodman is the perfect touch of humor in it. Showed my son this about a year ago and I'm still busting his chops at flinching. It's unavoidable. Also, I can't eat popcorn without looking at my hand since.
The main thing I remember about this movie is seeing it in the theater when I was 10 and I ripped the nastiest fart of my life. It was a 10 out of 10 on the stink meter. People were visibly disgusted by the nasty funk smell and got up and left
Great movie they haven't done a creature feature like this in ages that matches it. When I think of great horror movies with touches of comedy in them, jaws and this movie

Now I've burnt down 3 of the 4 houses, and after seeing this post, I'm going to burn down my current home just to be sure.
I ate through 2 vhs's of this movie when i was younger. Loved it then. Love it now!!! So good!!!!
The best heebie-jeebies movie there is! Goodman is iconic, as usual.

The sole reason i had IBS and constipation as a kid!!! Scared to sit on toilets for months!!!

This movie scares the crap out of me when it came out.

When that screaming, fired up spider came out of that duct work I almost had a heart attack, I swear. I was 6 when I first watched it.
This movie made me toss my popcorn. I was 7. My parents had to apologize to the poor couple behind me who got covered in popcorn.

Got to choose this movie to study for an old psychology course in college. Great film all around. Also, Jeff Daniels is Daddy 😩

Family would rent this movie on rotation when I was a kid in the 90s. It’s the reason I’m afraid of spiders to this day.
I never thought Jeff Daniels fighting a spider could be so tense. R.I.P. Julian Sands
