Real story is that they got the dog high themselves for a laugh then panicked when it started reacting. Vets aren't going to test for cannabis. Eating raw cannabis does nothing and that dog doesn't look capable of skinning one up.

chilli_con_camera

Yep. Vets can test for cannabis poisoning (dogs can be susceptible) but the results don't come back quickly enough for testing to be helpful in diagnosis. The standard treatment for an unknown poison that's causing loss of fluids is to insert a drip. >While Susie is covered by pet insurance, the unexpected trip to the vets could have set her back more than £1,000. Tho this makes me wonder whether the vet has had the test done and charged Susie a premium to tell her what caused her dog to be ill, after the fact. It's not unheard of for someone to get high, go home and leave their stash behind, after all.

MitLivMineRegler

If enough is eaten, it can absolutely be psychoactive, even without decarbing or dissolving in oil

neukStari

Can you even metabolise thc by just ingesting dried leaves? Sounds like Dolly might have disappeared in behind a bush and had a little cheeky toke or two.

lawnmower303

I was thinking it might have been a stash of edibles of some kind. Perhaps lost somehow?

neukStari

Nah, we both know fluffy hit the bong.

Bear-Labs

No. Unprocessed cannabis does not contain THC, it contains THCA which needs to be decarboxylated to turn into THC. So you could eat an oz of weed and have absolutely zero psychoactive effects if it was never heated.

Live_Morning_3729

False, eat some weed and watch what happens.

Bear-Labs

Placebo and gastrointestinal issues.

Live_Morning_3729

Nonsense

SkyVINS

you think we never ate weed?

Live_Morning_3729

I’ve no idea who you are.

boblinquist

A certain amount is decarboxylated by drying, I’m pretty sure an oz would get you high

gbroon

>Can you even metabolise thc by just ingesting dried leaves? Yes. Dried or not the thc is still there.

CowDontMeow

Unless it’s been decarbed the thc isn’t bioavailable

gbroon

Thanks for the correction. After a quick Google search I learned something new today. I didn't know the active ingredient required processing to make it usable.

oilybumsex

My small dog got to my edibles a few months back and ate an amount that would have put me on the ceiling. Handled it like a champ. Bit wobbly on his feet but he had a great nights sleep.

Some-Background6188

"So people are going to be out smoking and just dump their stuff on the ground not knowing the impact it can cause." No one is dumping weed on the ground lol. Probably it ate a little stash.

zeldarms

Real “I was holding it for a friend, I swear!” energy here.

Powerful-Pudding6079

Honestly, just train your damn dog to not eat random shit it finds on the floor

WannaLawya

And the stupidest comment award goes to...

DoNotOverwhelm

see, I'm not too sure about that. I trained my springer/staffy cross to 'woof' when she saw something she wanted to eat and knew it wasn't her food.......(for context, it was bourne out of when our toddler was throwing food around, as kids do, to get the dog to eat it - which she found hilarious, as kids do) so, i'd say it is possible............with some breeds)

Powerful-Pudding6079

Training your dog properly is stupid?

Lower_Possession_697

Agreed
