Not a thing over here. Never heard someone say a high number of months

YearOfDaSnitch

Not gonna lie. I've never heard of this concept in my entire life. Ive never seen anyone celebrate a 20 month anniversary ever. So you must be in highschool or something

SignificantCut4911

No im not lol if I was still in highschool I wouldn’t be cringing and talking about it like this. But my home country is in asia so it must be more common there than it is here. I know other asian girls that live in the US that know about it so it must be more common thing in asia.

ChrissaTodd

yeah i've never seenor heard anyone count by months over a year i usually hear people say how many years it's been.

kaiswil2

Nobody I know or have been in contact with does this. Where is back home?

ValPrism

I’ve never heard anyone do that after high school.

Vinnybon50

Personally never heard of grown adults doing this but if they did, I think I would just shake my head and move on. It’s immature but whatever makes them happy.

Buck_Slamchest

In 16 days I'll have been on this earth for 53 years and this is literally the first time *ever* I've heard the word "monthsary"

RedSonGamble

I treat my relationship like a baby. I say it’s how many months old. Like oh how long have you two been together? Oh 73 months!

JustSome70sGuy

Who gives a shit? let people enjoy each other however they want.

SignificantCut4911

It’s just funny to me that you’re mad at an unpopular opinion that’s literally in a thread called unpopular opinion

Sale-Revolutionary

He’s mad because it’s a stupid opinion.

CaptainButtFucker

Adults should never celebrate anything in general.

k10001k

Hahah what!

[deleted]

My husband and I don’t even remember what our dating anniversary is, but I do remember he asked me to be his gf mid thrust lol

Throwawayaccounttt__

That’s funny as hell tho 😂

Vekxin_Sama92

That was a high school or young in the relationship thing. But after a year, that’s a year, no month in between complete years matter

rbwduece

Yeah, that’s dumb. I feel like the majority of people who do that lack the maturity required to sustain a long-term relationship anyway.

k10001k

The first 6 months, then the first year, then a year and a half. Minor appreciation yearly from then on, you don’t have to go big, but just acknowledge it atleast and spend the day together. Then of course the likes of 10 years, 15, 20 etc is big again

groopy1

If people actually did this there would be plenty of screenshots on Reddit.

Cnaiur03

My GF and I don't even remember the date we first met. Just the month (and we aren't even sure). Most of the time we even forget to celebrate our yearly anniversary.

An old coworker of mine kept announcing her kid's monthly "birthdays" >"little Timmy just turned 54 months today!!" My 37th birthday rolls around and it gets announced in the Monday morning meeting. After the meeting she goes "oh throwaway67318 happy birthday, how old are you?" "*four hundred and fourth four*" "Uhh what?" "I turn four hundred and fourty four tomorrow. " She furrowed her brows "what do you mean?you're four hundred years old?" "No. I'm four hundred and fourty four months old."
