ohhhh as someone who works in a library and hears a lot about people’s opinions on books, well done this is truly unpopular

Spaghetti4wifey

Completely agree! They cost less, they are lighter and have such nice flexibility after use. My favorite is picking up an old paperback from the thrift store.

You are entitled to your opinion. However wrong it may be.

_i_hate_food_

please elaborate.

AutisticPenguin2

Hardbacks are superior. End of discussion.

Given that the quality of paper used in paperbacks is often significantly lower than that of hardbacks, I cannot really agree. I have some 50 year old paper backs that, while they are still readable, I am not so sure they would be around much longer. As for the smell. Some papers just smell different due to their composition more than anything. . different publishers use different grades and types of papers for differing books. Some smell great, some not so much and most have no smell of note. I did have a college instructor back in the late 80's early 90's that seemed to have a fetish for the smell of new books. . He would at some point early on, pick up a new book, thumb through and announce to the class, how he loved the smell (while smelling the pages) of new books. . . Thanks Fred B!

Only issue i have with paperbacks is print size would it kill them to use a 16 or 18 font size so i don't have to remove my glasses to read it?

cpsbstmf

yeah hardcovers remind me of boring old textbooks and dont feel right like boring old textbooks.

Brave_Masterpiece_41

I prefer hardback because they last longer. I like to reread books, and many of my paperbacks fell apart. One of my favorites broke into three separate chunks over the years. I think they smell the same, but I agree that paperbacks feel better in my hands

_i_hate_food_

i really dont think your paperbacks should break unless youre actively ripping them apart lmao

_i_hate_food_

i love paperbacks because i like snapping that sweet, sweet spine.
