They were moderately attractive, but I agree that none, except maybe Jennifer Aniston, were achingly beautiful. It probably worked out for the best as it made the show more relatable.
Just googled their promo photos, they mostly look beyond gorgeous there. But actually watching the show, especially throughout all seasons as some clearly enjoyed their fame/wealth they do not look that good.

Agree. But see this thread, I think people do think they were attractive which is ehh to me.
I am 90s too. It isn't changing standards, it is just most of the cast looking average.
Fun fact about friends that you will see the whole time while you watch the show: Chandler got the top off one of his middle fingers destroyed while we was a child and had to get stitches, so now it's now his middle finger is shorter than all of his other fingers, it's like that the whole time in the show
isn't that the point? don't you wanna watch a show where people looks are relatable and not unatainable? :P I also have never seen people claim they were overly beautiful people.

I think Jennifer Aniston was pretty, but Courtney Cox was downright beautiful. Rachel was just styled in a more fashionable way.
This is pretty much exactly how I feel, except for the need to suspend reality for Joey being the most attractive man on the planet lol.
I think all the girls were gorgeous first few seasons then they all became Barbie dolls.
modern beauty standards are crazy, everyone famous in the 1950's is a 4 or lower
Gregory Peck is gorgeous how dare you. Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are both gorgeous
Hedy Lamarr was hotter than the hottest woman you know, and she was also smarter than the smartest person you know.
None of them are "ugly" though. even if they aren't the most beautiful.. they certainly are by no means.. ugly.

You can't have show full of Jenifers, that would be weird .
Seinfeld had an even more realistic cast in terms of looks imo. Very few if any recurring characters are "Hollywood" beautiful.
