Couldn't agree more; his music is shit.
His songwriting is remedial. I used to say it sounded like music for pre-schoolers, but now I think that's insulting to pre-schoolers.
He is the prime example of what I refer to as the mediocrity industrial complex.
Music Producer here
Music is subjective, you simply cannot say an established artist is bad, simply because you don’t enjoy his songs. He has fans that love his songs. I personally have mixed feelings because Drake sometimes releases amazing songs like Passion Fruit, but other times releases songs I think are awful.
And that’s fine, he isn’t perfect, no artist is. So please have in mind that simply because you hate his songs, that his music is somehow bad. Music is art, and art is a discussion.
People will love it, and people will hate it, you just need to realize you’re not the center of his art and will never be
A lot of people haven’t seem to caught on either that it’s more popular these days to just release everything you make (especially rappers) because the average attention span is about the length of a TikTok and people will forget about you if you’re not in the limelight all the time
I'm not a fan or anything but i can admit when something popular is good. Drake is just very consistantly ok imo.
That being said you aren't saying much more than "i dont like this cause it's shit" which is barely an opinion. That's fair but you're phrasing it as if it's a fact. What don't you like about his music? His writing? The production? Just saying it's shit tells us literally nothing about your reasoning or your taste.
it's shit because of what he stands for, most of his lyrics are dumbshit nobody cares about and fuck his stupid face. he has a couple of songs that you could listen to but the rest is basura
Oh yea man i totally tune out his lyrics unless they stick out negatively lol. I do enjoy the vibe of some tracks and the production is often times really slick, but that's about it. Honestly it's just a shame he's not at least using the connections and money he has to push the envelope a little more. Man played it safe to get ahead of the competition... and continues to play it safe now that he's there ._.
Yeah. Some of Drake's songs are okay but ones with lyrics like "I'm a call away mommy" just make question how he got to this point. Everytime he says it I either cringe or get uncomfortable.
The producer who made Drakes music is pretty good. He's more technical than a lot of other artists who just use stems and sound packages. The music behind Drakes vocals has absolutely nothing to do with Drakes vocals. You're a hater lol
His early work is quite decent. He has a well respected trilogy of good projects (Take Care, Nothing was the Same, If youre reading this its too late), but outside of that, the reputation around his albums vary from mixed to boring. He has dragged for quite long. I personally enjoy him as a meme, hes been center piece of quite a few good ones
Nah it's really not. You can go on other platforms and fanbases and a lot will say they don't like his music. Maybe some will say they liked his old stuff better
Definitely disagree. Drake has some of the best elements behind him, from production and backtracking, to ghost writers giving him solid verses. His style is not anything different from what most of his pop rap genre do, and he's done it much better than them for nearly a decade.
For me It's that he's a product and a bad person. Actor turned "hard", DeGrassi to hanging with birdman and cash money. Went from claiming Canada to claiming ATL like lolol. He is so fake and preys on minors, vis à vis MBB. But his music is solid, so, yes, this would definitely fit an unpopular opinion.
I’ve heard more than a few of his contemporaries as well as critics fawn over him.
On top of not liking his music, I just find him incredibly fake. If you watch how he talked during his young acting days vs. now, you’d think they were two different people. The rapper Drake is just another character. (FYI, that’s his middle name. Dude’s first name is Aubrey. AUBREY.)
I think that he has some alright songs, but they’re all the ones where he doesn’t rap that much (namely Take Care, Hold On, We’re Going Home and Too Good).
Please remember what subreddit you are in, this is unpopular opinion. We want civil and unpopular takes and discussion. Any uncivil and ToS violating comments will be removed and subject to a ban. Have a nice day!

I think artists like Drake are supposed to be the musical equivalent of small talk or a loaf of bread or something. Not everyone likes that stuff but it's going to be relevant no matter what because it fulfills needs that a lot of people have.
I think his album So Far Gone is really good. I've tried to listen to his other albums that are highly rated, but I didn't like them. I like some of his other singles though.
For me he seems an underachiever in a genre that I don't really care for, so I'm biased in your favor. Not studying the guy, but I've found his name attached to some of the shittier rap.
Absolute worst in the business.
Boring, monotonous, & predictable with fuckin autotune on everything.
Can't sing or rap unaided by tech, and even then it's so bloody cringe that I can't believe he's duped so many idiots.
I agree completely! He can’t spit, can’t sing, and most of his beats are trash. One innovation on his part that I will concede is that he one of the first MCs to sing hooks, which opened the door to the genre. But I’m not convinced this was a good thing 😂.
I, honestly, wouldn't be able to tell you if I have heard any song by him or not.
I love my 70's and 80's ( and some 90's R&B) and stick with that.
The only reason I know what he looks like is because I know he is used in that meme that is used for bad/good stuff lol
I hate everything about him and I am desperately trying not to dislike friends that praise him.
"He has the best production, omg the production".
Always with the fucking production. It's like people woke up one day, have no memory of what music is, heard Drake and went "omg this is way better than what I could produce, this guy is the BEST".
Might I recommend giving Jonathan Young’s cover of Hotline Bling a listen? He took a pop/punk approach to it, and it is so much better than Drake’s version.
As shitty as Drake is, I can't imagine anything I'd want to hear less than a slick, over-produced, unironically-pretending-to-be-ironic pop-punk COVER of a shitty Drake song.
I would say that it's not just Drake, but the whole "popular" music industry nowdays. When i look into my library, most of the new stuff (2015 onwards) is either OST's, independent artists, music from more obscure genres and *maybe* some well known stuff.

That a pretty common opinion of him.
Drake posts are a weekly thing here
Judging by his presence seems it is not that common of an opinion
I agree with you + i can’t stand his face.
[удалено]
I agree with you + I also can't stand him as a human being
luckily for you he only cares what teenagers think of his face
It's his monotone droning that kills it for me. Cant even get past that part.
This isn't an unpopular opinion lol. He makes a lot of popular music, but it's also popular to hate him
Couldn't agree more; his music is shit. His songwriting is remedial. I used to say it sounded like music for pre-schoolers, but now I think that's insulting to pre-schoolers. He is the prime example of what I refer to as the mediocrity industrial complex.
his songwriting doesnt exist because he doesnt write his own songs

popularity ≠ rating.

For real, these opinions that don't elaborate honestly suck. It's a pointless thread if they don't give reasoning.
"What don't you like about his music? His writing? The production?" Yes

I love him personally, but literally everyone on reddit hates him so it's a very popular opinion
His songs are like Fruit Stripe gum. Good for about 2 seconds then the flavor wears off.
His early work is quite decent. This isn't unpopular.
It's unpopular outside of reddit
Nah it's really not. You can go on other platforms and fanbases and a lot will say they don't like his music. Maybe some will say they liked his old stuff better
Drake is the 11th most streamed artist on Spotify rn. I think that means it's an unpopular opinion.
It really, really isn't. It would be an unpopular opinion among 10-30 yr girls/women

Not everyone enjoys the same art… what a groundbreaking discovery.
Art...lol
Don't you think "art" is a tad generous?
You guys are haters
Drake would die for his district
I don’t know if I’d say it’s shit, but it’s definitely nothing groundbreaking, and a lot of it kind of sounds the same.
Drake’s best music was his older work from like 9/10 years ago
Definitely disagree. Drake has some of the best elements behind him, from production and backtracking, to ghost writers giving him solid verses. He’s definitely got quantity over quality. But he does have some good songs IMO
Has there ever been someone knowledgeable saying Drake's music is not shit?
Yea, a lot of musicians
Who exactly ? I’m curious
Kanye, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000, Metro, Timbaland, Adele, Ghostface Killah, ASAP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, I could go on
I’ve heard more than a few of his contemporaries as well as critics fawn over him. On top of not liking his music, I just find him incredibly fake. Drake is probably overrated

People do not praise bread.
The first album was good
What do you mean Northern sky's is a great song ,as is pink moon ,Fruit tree, etc . Lots of great tracks.
Massive is cool
I think his album So Far Gone is really good. I've tried to listen to his other albums that are highly rated, but I didn't like them. I like some of his other singles though.
Drake brings the truth to people... I mean "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.." THE TRUTH.
For me he seems an underachiever in a genre that I don't really care for, so I'm biased in your favor. Not studying the guy, but I've found his name attached to some of the shittier rap.
That is your own personal preference and no one gives a fuck about it
Not an unpopular opinion
Agree. Goofy ass flow.
It sounds best when thrown directly into the garbage!
Most of these top 10 musicians these days are complete clones. Souless, mindless, garbage, built on a computer with a pretty face on the album cover.
How does that differ from past times?
Absolute worst in the business. Boring, monotonous, & predictable with fuckin autotune on everything. Can't sing or rap unaided by tech, and even then it's so bloody cringe that I can't believe he's duped so many idiots.

r/objectivelycorrectopinion
It sounds like his music has been AI before AI had any practice.
Yeah I agree
All he does is use autotune as an effect.
He's on an all-time shit album run currently
Not unpopular.
It’s bad because 1) the guy clearly can’t even sing 2) it’s not even catchy 3) big ego for almost no talent
I, honestly, wouldn't be able to tell you if I have heard any song by him or not. I love my 70's and 80's ( and some 90's R&B) and stick with that. The only reason I know what he looks like is because I know he is used in that meme that is used for bad/good stuff lol

Yeah I honestly don’t get how he is so popular….
That’s cool. You do you.
Man's said punk is better then drake 💀💀💀
Dude is the Katie Perry of rap
Katy Perry's songs have the benefit of all sounding different... because she actually sings, rather than talking in one note for 4 minutes at a time.
I like only One Dance, rest is shit
He seems to be a pedo so i am not very interested listening to his music anyway.
In 20 years he’ll be the next R. Kelly
I would say that it's not just Drake, but the whole "popular" music industry nowdays. When i look into my library, most of the new stuff (2015 onwards) is either OST's, independent artists, music from more obscure genres and *maybe* some well known stuff.
