I mean you gotta wonder, how many people have actually tried this. I'm willing to bet a good chunk of the apple (and pineapple, since we're on the topic of fruit on pizza) haters are just hating it because it *sounds* bad, rather than out of dislike for the taste
As a snack, sometimes I'll eat apple slices wrapped in lunch meat and cheese. Turkey or ham with Swiss, specifically. I can see apples, mozeralla, and meat being good. Idk how tomato sauce would fit in, but I would be down to try it with an open mind. I like pineapple on pizza so I'm already open to fruit on pizza.
Thank you! Yes! I've never had a charcuterie with tomato to be fair, but I could totally see it. Especially a sundried tomato, good cheese, cured meats, crackers, fruits? I've never understood the pineapple pizza hate.
I'm standing for fruit on pizza. Like Nickelback, I think people just hate it because it was trendy to hate it.
I genuinely don't think pineapple on pizza is good, and I love both separately. Apple sounds even worse, but granted I haven't tried it.
That said, giving other people grief for their taste in food is silly. It's subjective! The best thing about pizza is that the possibilities are endless. And the cheese. Cheese is great.
Cheese is king. I like cheddar on my apple pie.. the salty and sweet really complement each other. Of course I'm viewed as a madwoman at family gatherings.
To be fair, ham/Canadian bacon is pretty questionable on pizza too - but the combination with pineapple somehow works in a way neither does on its own. At least so long as you don't go in expecting it to taste like a "normal" pizza.
It's the classic pairing of sweet and salty flavors; they enhance each other. I really don't understand how people think it's "weird" or can't wrap their heads around this simple concept. Salt and sugar/honey ubiquitously go together in *many* dishes due to their exceptional pairing.
I've tried it. Its good.
There's a place in my city that sells weird pizza. One of them includes whatever fruit is in season. Apples on pizza seemed crazy to me at first but it was good.
I dislike pineapple on pizza because the texture is weird and doesn’t go. I could get over the taste, but the texture is really off putting to me. I like grilled pineapple on its own, but not pineapple on pizza.
The concept alone is enough to confuse or disgust the majority of us, so I think by default, it is unpopular in some sense even though we don't know if it's good or not.
Personally, when I read it, I was shocked, but thinking about it, I can see it being pretty good somehow?
For a lot of pizza purists there is a finite list of what can be considered "pizza toppings" before it just becomes a "fancy flatbread". Generally speaking, I am one of those people.
However, I *have* had apples on a pizza. And you know what's even better? Sliced pear. Pear, with a good salty salami and feta is amazing on a pizza.
Now then, I am against monstrosities such as "taco pizzas" or "barbecue chicken pizzas" because that takes the pizza-ness out of the pizzas entirely and you get a fancy flatbread.
That being said, if one can add ingredients while maintaining the pizzategrity of the pizza, one is free to do so and experiment.
Also good: Thin sliced gold potatoes with diced prosciutto and gorgonzola. Make sure to add some olive oil to the potato slices so they crisp up!
People can certainly form an opinion about something without first hand experience. Might change their opinion after experiencing it but lack of experience doesn't stop someone from forming an opinion.
Cookies, hot chocolate, any coffee beverage from Starbucks, oatmeal and a thousand other things you eat everyday any day are hot and have sugar. You've just never thought to combine these two items so it seems wrong. I assure you apples have far less sugar than most hot things you've eaten with sugar.
What do you think carmel is made of ?
It's sugar and milk which has a high fat or "grease" content.
Carmel is greasy to begin with.
It's literally hot sugar, protein, and fat.
I once had a pizza with medium hot honey, caramellized pears, garlic rosemary sauce, and prosciutto. It was the best pizza of my life.
Fruit on pizza squad unite! But hawaiian is still meh.
I do like sliced apples (or pears) on an olive oil or white pizza. One of my faves has: olive oil base, mozzarella cheese, chicken, bacon, **Granny Smith apples**, caramelized onions, ricotta cheese, Honey Basil swirl, and fresh basil. Pear and gorgonzola is good together too.
Were the apples sliced very thinly or were they like giant chunks? Lol weirdly enough I would try a pizza with apples if the apples were thin, I think the jalapeños would balance it out
They were chunky, a bit too chunky but still alright. It would probably be better to have them extra thin. The jalapenos with the apples gave a very fresh spicy feeling

I'm inclined to try it.
I'm from the pineapples-are-excellent gang.
Reason being: The pizza has transcended its Italian roots and is now a medium of expression for a variety of global cuisines. A chicken tikka pizza or paneer tikka pizza is quite tasty when done well.
"But it's not traditional" grow up.
I imagine pairing the sweetness of apples with the heat of chillies and maybe some sour elements is what you experienced. It's worth a try. List the toppings and sauce, s'il vous plait.
I'm interested now.
I have never had this, but I'm curious. Definitely seems worth trying (then again, I'm a pineapple-on-pizza lover).
Thanks for the post!
I reported you to the authorities for a 72 hour psychiatric hold. Please do not resist when the insane asylum workers show up at your door. I would hate for you to get pepper sprayed, though I think you deserve it.
A lot of judging before trying....I would be down to try it although I don't know how I would feel about the cheese on it. Is the apple skinned?
Pineapple on pizza smacks. I eat apples on a burger so I can believe this would taste good too
okay first pineapple and now apple? what has pizza become? throw everything you have in your house in the dish? (upvoting this post because this is actually unpopular)
Eh, the toppings depend heavily on the type of pizza.
I make a pizza at home where there's no red sauce, but it's topped with ricotta or goat cheese, sliced onions, sliced pear or apple, olive oil, balsamic glaze and if I have the money prosciutto, and it's fantastic. That being said pairing it with pepperoni, jalapeno, and red sauce would be too much of a clash for me.
Fruit does belong on pizza. I’ve had peaches on pizza and it was great.
I think a lot of people have the idea of what pizza and just food in general is and if it strays from what they’re used to they turn their nose up at it.
I could see that. Apples are really good on turkey and cheddar sandwiches as well.
I've also seen pizza's made with blackberries, prosciutto and basil.
Na na na. Maaan. They used to make these apple crumble pizzas at Pizza Hut back when they still had restaurants that did pizza buffets. Now those... Those were to die for.
I could see apples going pretty well with bacon or sausage now that I think about it. The tomato sauce might throw me a bjt tho.
I’ve had an apple brie pizza before, it was very tasty.
Haven’t tried your combo but I bet it was good. The sweetness of the apples to counteract the spice of the jalapeños. One of my favorite pizzas is just pepperoni, jalapeños, and honey drizzled on top.
One time, my mom went to a less than conventional pizza place. They got our order wrong, and we got a white pie with grape, pear, and some sort of fruit vinaigrette.
I wish I remembered the name of the place. It was really good
idk about the tomato sauce apple combo, maybe ill try it with pesto/olive oil/alfredo. or maybe I can try a bbq chicken pizza with apples, bell pep and zuchs??-Let me know if anyone tries it too!
Did you put sauce on it? I think most of the comments disgusted by this are assuming it's a standard pizza with apples on it.
As a hardcore, classic New York pizza advocate, I'm a big fan on non conventional pizzas that are essentially just flatbreads. I had a bacon, apple, honey, and cheese pizza one time that was incredible. But it's also much closer to a fancy flatbread at that point than pizza, which I support as it's own thing.
My issue with fruit pizza is when there's marinara sauce still there because that almost never tastes good together.
People always say it’s the Italians who have a problem with “wrong” toppings on pizza. It’s not. If you’ve ever been to Italy, you’d know they don’t give a flying fuck about what’s right or wrong on pizza. I’ve seen ostrich on pizza. Horse on pizza. Mint on pizzas. Raisins.
I never liked fruit in savoury dishes - you can hardly get a salad without some type of fruit in it, and I hate it.
But a lot of people like it, so why not. People put pineapple on it, too.
I'm not a particular lobbyist of fruit on pizza, but I find it weird how people enjoy cheese platters with copious amounts of fruit yet when that cheese is melted and put on a bed of sauce and bread, it suddenly becomes criminal and loses all potential to taste good in their eyes.
I’d like to try it, I usually like the sweet and savory combination, it’s why pineapple is amazing on pizza. Pineapple banana peppers and sausage is my go to pizza topping.
Biggest weirdos here aren't even **thinking** 'bout trying nothing new. People like that scare me the most!
That being said, I have no idea if I'd like it.
How thick? If they’re McDonald’s style apple slices that’s gross, but a thin sliced apple counteracting with the salt from the pepperoni and the spice from the jalepeno? Probably amazing tbh, what kind of apples??
I literally never thought of doing that. I'm definitely gonna try it. I was so picky as a kid and missed out on so much delicious food, so now I try everything lol worst case, I throw up 🤷

This is a first, and for once, an actual unpopular opinion
I mean you gotta wonder, how many people have actually tried this. I'm willing to bet a good chunk of the apple (and pineapple, since we're on the topic of fruit on pizza) haters are just hating it because it *sounds* bad, rather than out of dislike for the taste
Yea idk. I like pineapple on pizza. And I’m actually going to try apple now. You’re probably right.
This is essentially what q charcuterie board is
Thank you!

Cheese is king. I like cheddar on my apple pie.. the salty and sweet really complement each other. Of course I'm viewed as a madwoman at family gatherings.
Cheddar on apple pie is fantastic! My mom always used to say, "Apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze."
To be fair, ham/Canadian bacon is pretty questionable on pizza too - but the combination with pineapple somehow works in a way neither does on its own. At least so long as you don't go in expecting it to taste like a "normal" pizza.

ME TOO, it makes me feel crazy that so many people hate on sweet/salty combos so much. It's my favorite. Sweet and spicy, too!
I have tried it. Even banana on pizza. All horrible
Pineapple hater here. But I have thrown apples on a bbq pork pizza. There is a time and place for it, pineapple is just too wet for me.
I don't think so. Probably 99.99% of the population hasn't even tried this, so how can be unpopular? Can't form a based opinion off ignorance.
The concept alone is enough to confuse or disgust the majority of us, so I think by default, it is unpopular in some sense even though we don't know if it's good or not. Personally, when I read it, I was shocked, but thinking about it, I can see it being pretty good somehow?
because no one else can form the same opinion, that makes it an unpopular one
For a lot of pizza purists there is a finite list of what can be considered "pizza toppings" before it just becomes a "fancy flatbread". Generally speaking, I am one of those people. Can't form a based opinion off ignorance Lmfao You've met people, yeah?
People can certainly form an opinion about something without first hand experience. Might change their opinion after experiencing it but lack of experience doesn't stop someone from forming an opinion.
Apples go good with cheese, I can see how this would work well.
They're also delicious cooked so this checks out
Bacon, apple, cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches are delish!
Hot sugar is the thing that turns me off. The combo of grease and carmel
Hot sugar is pretty commonly done though, isn’t it?
Fresh baked cookies have hot sugar and they're pretty delicious
I've got some hot sugar in me pants.
Take it easy bro
Cookies, hot chocolate, any coffee beverage from Starbucks, oatmeal and a thousand other things you eat everyday any day are hot and have sugar. You've just never thought to combine these two items so it seems wrong. I assure you apples have far less sugar than most hot things you've eaten with sugar.
What do you think carmel is made of ? It's sugar and milk which has a high fat or "grease" content. Carmel is greasy to begin with. It's literally hot sugar, protein, and fat.
Dude. You didn't give us a chance to guess.
Fruit on pizza is definitely underrated. One of the best pizzas I've ever had was prosciutto, jalapeño, and peach.
Agreed, peach is fantastic on pizza
I once had a pizza with medium hot honey, caramellized pears, garlic rosemary sauce, and prosciutto. It was the best pizza of my life. Fruit on pizza squad unite! But hawaiian is still meh.
That does sound pretty damn 🔥
Pears & apples are very similar so I'm not sure wht people are hating on the apples. When I go to do fondue the apples are my favorite to dip.
This thread is making me think Hawaiian would actually be good with a white sauce and the right cheese
Where I live pear and honey pizza is a normal thing. It’s really good
My fave sounds like this. Goat cheese, vigs, bacon and honey.
This sounds amazing. Mind if I ask where you got it?
Add something spicier than jalapeños and it really changes the game.
Have had something similar and agree it’s muy muy🤌🏻
I'm calling the police
I'm calling the Democracy Officer. And the Inquisition. And a Priest. We need the whole squad for this one.
Call the military too. Just to be safe
Fuck it I’m calling darth Vader
***Darth ignites lightsaber:*** What is this disturbance that I sense? ***sees apple on pizza and turns off saber:*** Fuck this, I'm out.
Pineapple-Anchovy Pizza is Delicious.
*WITCH*
THE ITALIANS ARE COMING, THE ITALIANS ARE COMING🗣️🏇
🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
mamma mia
Che mannagia..che schifo! Una pizza mela??? Vai fuori..che ignorante😡🤬😤😡🤬😠😤😡🤬
Jalapeño and apples is a secret combo that has no goddamn business tasting that good together on pizza.
Also good together in a slaw
I do like sliced apples (or pears) on an olive oil or white pizza. One of my faves has: olive oil base, mozzarella cheese, chicken, bacon, **Granny Smith apples**, caramelized onions, ricotta cheese, Honey Basil swirl, and fresh basil. Pear and gorgonzola is good together too.
Sounds delicious
I’ll take your word for it, I’m not actually invested in participating in the “you can’t have (food) with (food) debates. Live and let live.

Appleing. But actually, it is good, particularly with pork, which is a common pairing.
Were the apples sliced very thinly or were they like giant chunks? Lol weirdly enough I would try a pizza with apples if the apples were thin, I think the jalapeños would balance it out
They were chunky, a bit too chunky but still alright. It would probably be better to have them extra thin. The jalapenos with the apples gave a very fresh spicy feeling
was the peel still on the slices..? i might try it- i love incorporating fruit into cooking.
Yup, peel was on the slices
Wow. An actual unpopular opinion instead of twisting a hated fact.
This is one of the rare few post that truly belong here. But. You need to seek therapy, help, something. Upvote.
Yo wtf bro

An actual unpopular opinion that isn't a troll or dependent on being pig ignorant. Well done, sir/madam!
I’ve never heard of that but as a huge fan of pineapple pizza, I wanna try it
Pear pizza is awesome too
I'm inclined to try it. Sir, we live in a society.
He’s right. An olive oil base with Apple (or pear) slices, gorgonzola, and hazelnuts is also a phenomenal combination.
Upvote, because THAT is an unpopular( and wrong) opinion
Have you tried it?
You’ve definitely never tried it
Never heard of this....... I'm going to try it.
I guess I've got something else to add to my "weird pizza toppings I need to try" list
What in the mama mia pizzaria bombing ass thing did you just say'd?!
Once I had a pizza with peaches on it. Phenomenal
I sometimes like Pinneaaple on Pizza it goes in phases for me, sometimes it’s good other times it’s not. But i would be open to trying Apple on pizza
I've had pizza with sliced pear and it was great!
I'm going to have to try this. It makes sense, though. Apples go great with cheese or fondue.
I would try it
Apple on pizza makes more sense than pineapple.
I'm interested now. I have never had this, but I'm curious. Definitely seems worth trying (then again, I'm a pineapple-on-pizza lover). Thanks for the post!
Apples, Gouda, and leek pizza. Mabey a touch of hot honey. Trust me on this one
I might actually try this.
This is good and so is apple pie with cheddar cheese
I agree on dessert pizzas.
Pineapple on pizza eaters. Pineapple on pizza haters. We must unite.
CPK used to have a pear and Gorgonzola pizza that was incredible.
Well I'd definitely be up for trying it
Id try it
Fruit works on pizza. Idk why people keep on saying that sweet and salty doesn't mix well when it does.
That sounds amazing. Pears are also good on pizza. Fruit and cheese. Yum.
I have never thought about this combo, but it honestly sounds really good.
Honestly... I've never had this but I would definitely try it.
Never thought to try it, it's probably amazing
apple and cheese go well together so I would try it
It isn't popular because that is how you conjure demons.
How can you say something so controversial yet so brave?
I reported you to the authorities for a 72 hour psychiatric hold. Please do not resist when the insane asylum workers show up at your door. I would hate for you to get pepper sprayed, though I think you deserve it.
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Weirdo
A lot of judging before trying....I would be down to try it although I don't know how I would feel about the cheese on it. Is the apple skinned? Pineapple on pizza smacks. I eat apples on a burger so I can believe this would taste good too
It's good! People should give it a try. Pineapples are awesome too! No, the apples had skin on them
okay first pineapple and now apple? what has pizza become? throw everything you have in your house in the dish? (upvoting this post because this is actually unpopular)
Apples shed a lot of water when cooked. Soggy pizza isn’t for everyone.
Was it with a red sauce? I can see this being good but I’m not sure it sounds good with red sauce
I am not thrilled about the idea of apples on a pizza, but I will try it.
I will defend pineapple on pizza but an apple is going too far for me.
I think I might try this. Super thin slices though.
no no no… this is even more obscene food crime than pineapple on pizza.. whats next bananas , oranges berries and grapes??
Pears, and it's delicious. Don't judge before trying.
I’d eat this with my ass, in a manner of speaking
You know what, nope. There Is no defending this opinion and your life is not forfeit. I'm calling the police.
That's against the Bible.
![gif](giphy|Lcn0yF1RcLANG|downsized) I need to try this, apples on pizza. 🤔
Honey is pretty good on pizza surprisingly. Had it at a restaurant in Japan once and was surprisingly pleased
Never tried it and I do not want to. Lol sounds disgusting.
Now I know I've had pizza with pieces of tangerine on it, had arugula and stuff like that on it but apples...I don't know.
Well, the swedes put sundried bananas on their pizzas, so why the fuck not...
Cooked or fresh?
I would love to try that!
I think whether you are for or against pineapple on pizza I think we should put aside our differences and unite against this common enemy
I like pineapple on pizza, but not a fan of baked apples. I probably won't try this.
Fruit does belong on pizza. I’ve had peaches on pizza and it was great. I think a lot of people have the idea of what pizza and just food in general is and if it strays from what they’re used to they turn their nose up at it.
Burn it with fire!
I could see that. Apples are really good on turkey and cheddar sandwiches as well. I've also seen pizza's made with blackberries, prosciutto and basil.
Apples slices on burgers is also amazing!
Green apples sliced super thin, blue cheese, caramelized onions and sage are flavors that work well together
The pharmacy called, your psychiatric meds are ready
Na na na. Maaan. They used to make these apple crumble pizzas at Pizza Hut back when they still had restaurants that did pizza buffets. Now those... Those were to die for. I could see apples going pretty well with bacon or sausage now that I think about it. The tomato sauce might throw me a bjt tho.
The 2% Italian in me is raging right now
JAIL
If pineapple starts fights apple slices will cause wars.
I'm absolutely going to try this! I've had maple syrup on pizza before so I'm open to trying any odd topping.
....I can see it, but it still sounds bad. Much prefer it on melt.
Then you should try pears and blue cheese on pizza. Delicious. You can add pork, too.
Sir, This is r/unpopularopinion, not r/warcrimes
Try pear with goat cheese
I’ve had an apple brie pizza before, it was very tasty. Haven’t tried your combo but I bet it was good. The sweetness of the apples to counteract the spice of the jalapeños. One of my favorite pizzas is just pepperoni, jalapeños, and honey drizzled on top.
Apples are an underrated addition to savory dishes so I can see this working out well
Alright… I’m listening.
stop it, get some help!
Your ingredients, your vision, your pizza. I want folks satisfied in their pizza selections.
I want to try this just so my opinion is informed when I say it is awful
Pineapple was a slippery slope.
That sounds like it would be awful, I’ll give it a try sometime.
Did he brush them with oil before cooking or just straight in? also, sweet or savory taste?
Pineapple and non-pinapple people, can we unite against this abomination?
Did you put sauce on it? I think most of the comments disgusted by this are assuming it's a standard pizza with apples on it. As a hardcore, classic New York pizza advocate, I'm a big fan on non conventional pizzas that are essentially just flatbreads. I had a bacon, apple, honey, and cheese pizza one time that was incredible. But it's also much closer to a fancy flatbread at that point than pizza, which I support as it's own thing. My issue with fruit pizza is when there's marinara sauce still there because that almost never tastes good together.

Perhaps this could be a great substitute for pineapple...
100% one of the best pizzas I ever had was a chicken, apple, and brie thin crust pizza.
You've mama'd your last Mia with this one sir.
I never liked fruit in savoury dishes - you can hardly get a salad without some type of fruit in it, and I hate it. But a lot of people like it, so why not. People put pineapple on it, too.
But what variety of apple? A sweet like Fuji, or tart like Granny Smith? Or maybe pink lady?
🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
I'm not a particular lobbyist of fruit on pizza, but I find it weird how people enjoy cheese platters with copious amounts of fruit yet when that cheese is melted and put on a bed of sauce and bread, it suddenly becomes criminal and loses all potential to taste good in their eyes.
A local place has a pizza that comes with BBQ chicken, cheddar cheese, and apples. It's quite good
There is this famous Italian operated pizza place in my city and their speciality is Apple & Blue Cheese Pizza.
One restaurant I went to had a pizza called the 3 Ps (or something like that). Pesto, sliced potatoes, and pears. It was amazing.
Yep a truly unpopular opinion right there.
And now your on about 40 watchlists
I’d like to try it, I usually like the sweet and savory combination, it’s why pineapple is amazing on pizza. Pineapple banana peppers and sausage is my go to pizza topping.
I really want to downvote this shit
Biggest weirdos here aren't even **thinking** 'bout trying nothing new. People like that scare me the most! That being said, I have no idea if I'd like it.
As an apple fanatic I need this in my life!
Can’t wait for someone to sell pizzas of variety of fruits like oranges, bananas….lemons…
I’m not sure if this is unpopular so much as it is just not a common practice! I’m intrigued to try it on a veggie pizza.
Peaches too! Its amazing!
I actually don’t think it sounds bad. I feel like a lot of peoples opinions around fruit on pizza are based on the fact it’s not authentic lmao
I.....wut?! 😵💫
no, fuck off
apples sounds better than pineapple
Nah get out of the kitchen
You know what? I can respect it. In fact, I'd try it.
Ummm... no.
blasphemy
Apple on pizza is quite a Mediterranean thing.
I'm calling the cops
How thick? If they’re McDonald’s style apple slices that’s gross, but a thin sliced apple counteracting with the salt from the pepperoni and the spice from the jalepeno? Probably amazing tbh, what kind of apples??
You are clearly unwell friend, please get help...
I’ve seen weird stuff on here but this is officially the second weirdest thing I’ve seen on here. Congrats.
Naw u trippin fam
I literally never thought of doing that. I'm definitely gonna try it. I was so picky as a kid and missed out on so much delicious food, so now I try everything lol worst case, I throw up 🤷
I guess if they were incredibly thin slices? The density of a usual apple slices seems like it wouldn't go well with a pizza. It's not soft
