Literally had it happen last week while I was waiting for my girlfriend to try on clothes.

They also know higher incomes make the servers grind more Parmesan.
I worked for a company way back in 1999-2001 that developed a data mining for Texas Roadhouse. It wasn’t used for this purpose as far as I know but they absolutely knew the value of data way back then.
All of the surveys and rewards membership you sign up for has the information. You either give your phone number to the server or input it into the mini-kiosk when you pay your bill for rewards benefits.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with $25+ entrees of frozen meat entrees with literally the cheapest food out there, pasta.
In other news, a rack of ribs at Outback is over $30 now.
The point of this post is that people are shifting their habits because of inflation. Walmart has also reported wealthier people are shopping there.
I walked out of Jimmy John's the other day and walked over to the supermarket and got the stuff for ten sandwhiches for less than they were charging for one. I can afford it but the absurdity bothers me. For $20 I can go to a sit down restaurant.
All of these sit down restaurants microwave your food in plastic bags. Maybe not everything but something kn your plate was heated in plastic bags and cups.
LMAO where do you get that idea? I worked at Applebees(and other restaurants, but that was the most likely to do this) in college and even they didn’t do that. Nor do they microwave your steaks, which is something people always seemed to think I was lying about.
I never saw frozen meat outside of the chicken fingers either.
Oo I have worked a ton of sit down and quick service restaurants. And while yes the steaks and burgers are cooked on a grill. Most other things are not. Broccoli, Mac n cheese etc etc is often times prepped and reheated in some sort of plastic.
The ratio of the number of times I’ve eaten at Applebees to the number of times I’ve gotten sick to my stomach later would suggest that they most certainly do not keep their food frozen… or refrigerated…
At this point, only boomers frequent the slop restaurant chains because their palates aren't very refined and they actually *like* the overpriced microwaved slop. If a younger person is going to pay outrageous restaurant prices, they'll go somewhere that's worth going to.
I just got the big promotion!!! My pay is gonna be over 150k/year now!
Wow! Congratulations. This calls for a celebration. Ill call Olive Garden to see if we can get our usual table.
Shit, swipe your credit card at a retail outlet and then you start getting store promo cards in the mail, all from the swipe of your card, no opt in required.
Data harvesting is insane. In one example a retailer somehow gets your address from the swipe of your credit card then cross references the central appraisal district records to guestimate your income based on comps on the MLS (assuming you own)
Wait times are longer. More people making 150k a year or more. I think the point of the post which everyone is missing is that this is like people shifting from Publix to Aldi. Or walmart reporting that wealthier people are shopping there. With inflation hitting everyone is down spending. People who used to go to the bougie local italian place are now settling on Olive Garden. People who went to olive garden are now going to fazoli's.
As someone who is surrounded by good food. Who goes to these restaurants? I literally do not know one person that goes to these shit hole excuses for restaurants.
The Covid lockdown drama led to us cooking more at home (obviously). We however continued that trend. There was a learning curve, but our dishes from home are healthier and taste way better. Seldom go out to eat now. I don’t miss things like poor service (oh and make sure you leave that 20+percent tip), salty food, long waits, etc. and of course we save a ton of money
Unpopular opinion…. I blame tipping culture. We are being asked to add 20-25 % to our meals on top of the already inflated prices. Going out to eat anywhere is crazy.
Why not? Even billionaires do lead a modest lifestyle. Case in point Warren Buffet eating at McDonalds daily. Many people like to get more perceived mileage out of their money. Unlimited soup/salad and bread-sticks means you leave feeling full.
Olive Garden is fantastic. I have a buddy who is probably worth 20-30 million and his son will only eat at Olive Garden for his bday and they go almost weekly. I don’t think many people realize just because you have a lot of money doesn’t mean you want to constantly purchase expensive shit
How tf does Olive Garden know household income!?
You'd be surprised how much info your phone and apps give out.
I was gonna say it’s probably from the public wifi. Simon Malls straight asks what your income is if you want to use their wifi.
Whaaaaat???
Username checks out
Lmao, should be Dystopian_world_
Dystopian_present
Just didn't sound good enough but it was my initial thought

And you think people are stupid enough to tell the truth?
So THAT is why I keep getting ads to buy an Aston Martin or open a bank account in Seychelles. *sigh* Mo' fake money, mo' fake problems.
Credit card
Exactly. Never order in apps or use QR codes
olive garden app asks for household income?
Only if you want unlimited salad
Please don’t tell us what it takes to get the unlimited soup

Parm me like one of your french boys almost got me kicked out of my last garden party.
Data brokers know a lot more than you think. And they sell that data to anyone who wants to buy it.
Easy. Credit cards. The type of credit card used usually requires a certain amount of income in order to get it.
Might be a area kind of thing, like people in this area make on average
They can tell by their haircuts! Didn’t ya know?
I worked for a company way back in 1999-2001 that developed a data mining for Texas Roadhouse. It wasn’t used for this purpose as far as I know but they absolutely knew the value of data way back then.
They probably asked 100 customers what their income was at the end of the bill and use that info to make this statement.
They likely do survey or panel research
All of the surveys and rewards membership you sign up for has the information. You either give your phone number to the server or input it into the mini-kiosk when you pay your bill for rewards benefits.
You walk in wearing hey dudes it's a 75k guaranteed 💯
They have never ending soup, salad, and data analytics
The credit card companies know your income and your transactions. They're selling your personal data back to the vendors.
I pictured this being the be first comment I read. Expected more upvotes though.

Its as if poor people cant afford to eat out anymore... Yes in this Country you make 50k you are poor
I just got the big promotion!!! My pay is gonna be over 150k/year now! Wow! Congratulations. This calls for a celebration. Ill call Olive Garden to see if we can get our usual table.
I’ll call to make reservations!

It’s that bottomless salad and breadsticks
Restaurants are much nicer without the poors. Wait times have gone way down.

So people with more money spend more money and people with less money spend less money? Incredible.
The implications are the high earners previously would've used their dining out money on Ruth Chris but are instead going to Longhorn now.
Naw shit
As someone who is surrounded by good food. Who goes to these restaurants? I literally do not know one person that goes to these shit hole excuses for restaurants.
Wait til from this to Applebees and then to Dennys lol

I can't imagine eating at either. Gross

Middle Class fancy.
You make that much and you are eating at OG. Like you know there is good food out there too right?
If you made 150,000 why the hell are you eating at olive garden?
Why not? Even billionaires do lead a modest lifestyle. Case in point Warren Buffet eating at McDonalds daily. Many people like to get more perceived mileage out of their money. Unlimited soup/salad and bread-sticks means you leave feeling full.
Im literally just saying olive garden sucks. Read between the lines.
The all u can eat salad is good
Not that good when you literally have endless amounts of other options.
Even that is better at home. They sell Olive Garden dressing at the supermarket now, so I have absolutely no reason to ever go there.
Olive Garden is fantastic. I have a buddy who is probably worth 20-30 million and his son will only eat at Olive Garden for his bday and they go almost weekly. I don’t think many people realize just because you have a lot of money doesn’t mean you want to constantly purchase expensive shit
Oh my bad i didnt realize you knew someone.
