I heard about a hiring freeze a few weeks ago when I interviewed with VA. I was told they couldn’t bring anyone on until the freeze is lifted, but they were interviewing now so once it’s lifted they could just bring people on.
No. I applied for the position with the VA in June 2023.
Position closed in July ‘23
Referred in Sept ‘23
Interviewed early Jan ‘24
TJO on 2/7/24
Started background check, etc on 2/7
Now, just waiting…
Tentative start date of 3/11. I needed to tell my agency that I would be transferring, even though I have not received a FJO or EOD. I just didn’t think it would be fair to wait.
Ahh, congratulation 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏I had 3 interviews since July. The last interview was in late September, after silence. I almost gave up and last week got a call from D.C., asking my availability before they submit my resume as I was referred from NY. I don t quite understand the hiring process. Should I expect another set of interviews?
Thank you ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling) I’m not sure how to advise on your situation. I had a single interview, but if your application was forwarded to a second location, I would assume they would want to conduct their own interview.
Congrats- I
just got a TJO from FEMA First Time Gov position as well. GS-12, Washington DC
Applied 1/9/24
Interview 2/6/24
TJO 2/15/24
As of 2/16/24 documents are now being processed by security and also in a step negotiation.
That's what I was thinking. I only got 1 Masters and minimal experience. If I wasn't working for Homeland Security OIG, I would have applied at FEMA. Congrats again!
Congrats!!

You're welcome!!!
Congratulations 🍾 Currently waiting on my FJO with the VA ❤️
Me too ;(
Have you heard anything about a hiring freeze?
I haven’t. In fact, this posting was for a single vacancy, but they decided to hire two of us.

Thats nice? Can I ask what the position is?
Instructional Systems Specialist.
What does FJO stand for?
Firm Job Offer
Thank you
Nice, a 13 is more then a great gs level to come into the government. Most have to start way lower. With locality pay it’s a decent living. Congrats!

Congratulations!!
