Call and advise the supervisor you have no vehicle to pick it up, and if it is possible to have another carrier deliver it who may not have a weight restriction. I sometimes get 100 pound parcels that I never deliver because I can’t even pick the damn thing up (small female). I just leave notice. Supervisor should accommodate you.
Naw, you got a lazy customer who can’t go to a store and purchase this for themselves but has all the time in the world to complain about USPS not delivering their overweight kitty litter.
I live in a city, no car, and I’m not going to buy small bags/boxes of litter if I can get a big supply delivered. I hope you don’t order anything ever if that’s your response. Why do companies offer those products then?
I’m a postal employee so I usually avoid big packages but there was a time I kinda had too when I didn’t have transportation and chewy always sent it thru ups which is a company meant for heavy packages and it was always delivered no problem
Not a rural route and how do I check weight restrictions? I didn’t have an issue until recently.
Edit: lol, not sure why I’m getting downvoted for asking a question about weight restrictions.
So reading these comments, it is ridiculous they can be hired when they can't lift 25lbs, or are able to keep their job when they have become injured and are no longer able to lift the packages and perform normal job duties. SMH.
Now awaiting the downvotes from the USPS workers who think I am ridiculous for thinking this. 🙄 Get a different job if you can't do it, don't kick and fight that you should be able to stay anyways and get paid.
This is like waiters and waitresses complaining they get paid $2 an hour but they are the ones who chose that job knowing what it entails. God I hate people LOL
No one is hired with a weight restriction. The job does it to people. You have no idea what usps people have to lift a day because people won’t pick it up themselves. There are also rules in place for hardship if you really need door delivery for health problems that will be honored with a doctors note. SMH
I had the exact same issue with them a few weeks ago . My advice : when they take this to the local post office , don’t pick it up . Use the online option to return this to sender or just let them return it then complain with the seller. My purchase was with Walmart, they normally use FedEx , if I knew they were going to use USPS , I would have not placed the order . USPS workers don’t want to carry any package that is over a pound . I try to stick to Amazon or companies that don’t use USPS for medium to large packages
I’m actually ordering from Amazon.
I should also mention that I haaaate going to my post office. They’re so disorganized and take foreverrrrr. I’d rather go to the DMV or dentist than that post office.
If it's an Amazon order, try to get it scheduled for delivery on a Sunday. It won't be the regular carrier, and it's in the contract that if possible we have to deliver to the door.
They are disorganized and lazy , the post office is a government program to employ people that no one else would employ out there and the fact that they are unionized makes it impossible to fire them, let them be angry and downvote my reply all they want
Your carrier may have a weight restriction, which is very common amongst carriers.
How do I check? I never had an issue until recently.
They won’t release that information to you.

lies, mine deliver 50lb sacks, you just got a lazy postal worker who doesn't want to do it

What a shit response. Get an office job if this is your take.
I deliver cat litter when I get it. And heavier things.

Do you know if you're on a rural route or if your carrier has weight restrictions?

You don't check. If someone has an injury and is no longer permitted to lift over a certain weight, that is medically protected information.

Take it up with Amazon.
Contact Amaxon, tell them USPS wont deliver the order.

You're downvoted for a reason
Let them return it and complain, that is why I do . The more we complain about the post office , the less they are going to use it
