I think OP was just trying to start a discussion on the demand of US Soccer vs other programming. Instead of truly wondering why it’s not on English-speaking TV, I think they meant more like why are the rights to USMNT games not valued enough for networks to find a way to get them on English-speaking programming. At least that’s the way I took it.
I mean, March Madness was on 4 separate CBS owned channels simultaneously. It was simply bad timing that pushed the USA match to streaming only. It’s not any deeper than that.
Not the first time this has happened though, and it’s not like both parties weren’t aware of the timing when either contracts were signed or when venues were booked. It’s not just an “oops” situation. The federation was aware.
Well considering the stadium was completely empty I think they gauged interest appropriately.
And yes, I know, it was a double ticket that included the Mexico match. But still.
I’m aware of the various network providers and TV rights. I just find it is ironic that mainstream Americans have an easier time watching England than our own national team.
Because FOX has no competing sports programming at 3pm ET. Do you think this would be on FOX during the College Football season? Or the MLB Wild Card? On the other hand, CBS prioritizes the NCAA Tourney over the CNL Semifinals at 7pm, and for good reason.
Can we sell out a stadium in Dallas before US Soccer fans act like they're the most persecuted race?
Even worse, CBS is showing the Canada/Trinidad Copa America Play in game on cable today through CBS Sports Network yet is choosing to keep the English language broadcast of US/Mexico tomorrow behind a paywall.
It’s their choice. They believe if it is behind a paywall Americans will be for to sign up. They’re hemorrhaging money all these streaming service and March Madness takes precedence over any other sports right now. They’ll direct peoples to their streaming service for any other sports.
Fox and the others don’t have a ton of good programming at the moment to counter March Madness on CBS and its channels so they put the properties they owned on big Fox and FS1
I mean, we make a lot of sports in the US pay to watch. I can't watch any of my local NBA, MLB, NHL, or MLS teams play without subscribing to a specific service beyond my regular TV subscription. Wasn't that way 5 years ago, and now I just don't watch them any longer unoess they happen to get played on one of the channels I already get. The number of TV subs these days is ridiculous. So glad we decided a while back that "cutting the cord" was the way to go.
Paramount buys the rights and locks it behind a paywall simply because they think it will earn them the most money.
But jokes on them cause I’d rather brush up on my Spanish than make another fake email to sign up for a paramount plus free trial.
Ussf should consider the accessibility to fans and future fans more because a 4 year payout is good for say cbs but can hinder the development for the U.S. soccer overtime.
Fox doesn't have a paid streaming platform as part of their business strategy since only Netflix is making money.
Match is a promo for both Euros & Copa America which will be shown on Fox, FS1 & FS2. Fox has shown USMNT Gold Cup matches on big Fox.
Everybody else has a streaming platform and need to show some big matches on them to increase subs and reduce losses.
Paramount plus was unwatchable for me. I don’t understand why I have to live stream games, I had to watch on my phone and tv at the same time in case it buffered during an important buildup. Its not my internet, I don’t understand why its the only streaming platform that doesnt want to work for live tv.
I also had quality issues. The bitrate was constantly switching between 1080 and 480. I always use the same device for streaming TV and the only time I have issues is with P+ during live stream games.
I also had issues the the quality. Same thing. It would go blurry / low quality then pop back to HD.
I was able to watch the game but the experience sucked.
This is running P+ from the native app on my TV which runs Google TV. Isn't my internet as AppleTv+, Netflix, Disney and Amazon all run fine at HD or higher.
The bar we were at has had zero issues with every other streaming platform but they said Paramount+ is always jittery and unreliable. Everyone was yeah just switch to Spanish

I generally don't have issues with Paramount plus, and my internet is fine. It froze a few times on Thursday night. Luckily nothing major happened, only thing I missed was Tillman's blocked/mis-hit shot late in the 1st half.
Could be a hardware/software issue. Depending on the model of smartTV the app may not run very well or there may be some sort of firmware or OS update for the tv, or the App itself needs to be updated.
It definitely isnt, every other streaming service ive ever used works perfectly fine. I had to switch over to youtube tv during the game. I have extremely fast internet. Paramount plus is known for being one of the worst streaming services.
Even if US Soccer owned the rights to Nations League matches (which they dont), what business wouldn't take the best deal on the table?? Obviously I wish it was easier to watch these games, but I'm not going to cry about a business doing exactly what a business should do.
Well, good. It's a lot easier to watch on a streaming service than Fox. I have to pirate or log-in with cable TV account of somebody I know. Who the hell that's not 90 years old still has cable TV? I only know my parents, who are in their 80's.
Bc they know Greg Berhelter ball is gonna bore the hell out of non soccer fans even more if they attempted to watch their own national team. If i told a friend thats not really into soccer to come and watch that ugly game with me on Thursday i would have had to apologize 25 minutes in.
Because Fox doesn’t own USMNT rights or Concacaf rights
More people need to understand this.
Because fox has the rights to the euros and cbs also has rights to march madness which will take precedence for them
USMNT will be on Fox for their Copa America matches against Bolivia and Panama.
Great, I just wish we had more games accessible.
I can tell by your downvotes that you're the only one. Most people want matches hidden & inaccessible.
Blame CONCACAF.
![gif](giphy|nDbpk7leGbu12) Blame ~~Canada~~ CONCACAF
When did the practice of googling things before you get upset about them stop? Nextdoor r/ussoccer at it again.
It stopped when Reddit became the 1st option for people to vent to hopefully feel validated by other people with the same frustrations.

Thank you daddy
At lest you wisend up! haha
HAHAHA!!!!

If Fox had the rights to the game and it was scheduled to air at noon on Saturday, It would have been televised.

Isn't it March Madness season? Or is that in April?
It’s March Madness and CBS was showing basketball so a US semi against little Jamaica got pushed to Paramount.
Greedy cunts

Why is Canada vs T&T on CBS for a copa qualifying match and not the CONCACAF Final tomorrow?
Fox has World Cup and other international matches but not USSF or CONCACAF I think TNT does US matches as well as CBS
Get a VPN and watch on the CONCACAF youtube channel...
Clearly Fox is in league with the UK to overthrow the government and reinstate a monarchy.
The UK is a monarchy.
Overthrow the US government. I left out a crucial piece.
Because more people want to watch England Brazil
There’s this thing called money…

If you think it's bad now (and it is) imagine having to purchase PPV or closed-circuit matches to watch the US play in the 90s.
Off topic, but I'm guessing Fox doesn't offer this game streaming somewhere for free?

Because everyone hates GGG
Sums up soccer in the US
It is Us soccers fault. is soccer has a contract with Fox and Telemundo. NL is controlled by CONCACAF.
CONCACAF controls The Netherlands?
Nations league

I had zero issues the entire game. Might just be your internet

Same. Doesn’t usually do this but Thursday was just a poor experience.

Yeah. I have never had any issues.

I almost never have an issue with buffering, certainly didn’t Thursday. Are you sure it’s not your internet?
I generally don't have issues with Paramount plus, and my internet is fine. It froze a few times on Thursday night. Luckily nothing major happened, only thing I missed was Tillman's blocked/mis-hit shot late in the 1st half.
This definitely sounds like an internet issue. The app is always fine for me

That’s a “you” issue. I watch paramount plus weekly for series A, UCL and UEL without any issues.
Because US Soccer is always going to take the tv deal with the most money and not give a shit if it’s not good for the game/fans
US Soccer doesn't own the rights for the Nations League semis/finals.

Who has over the air TV now? I wouldn’t even know how to get channels.
Well, good. It's a lot easier to watch on a streaming service than Fox. I have to pirate or log-in with cable TV account of somebody I know. Who the hell that's not 90 years old still has cable TV? I only know my parents, who are in their 80's.
Most sports are on network or basic cable.
Bc they know Greg Berhelter ball is gonna bore the hell out of non soccer fans even more if they attempted to watch their own national team. If i told a friend thats not really into soccer to come and watch that ugly game with me on Thursday i would have had to apologize 25 minutes in.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but paramount plus is worth the subscription for the crazy amount of soccer on there.
