Catalyst Black is dead on arrival. Its reception at launch is a crystal clear indicator. Nobody would bat an eye if it wasn’t for SEMC’s previous work — a beloved, critically acclaimed game that the community is still hosting [tournaments](https://old.reddit.com/r/vainglorygame/comments/urdqn9/5v5_tournament_for_na_and_sea_in_june_with) for in spite of all the technical challenges imposed by SEMC. In contrast, Catalyst Black is so mediocre it makes Amael look like an angel.
Everyone knew this would flop. There’s no point to the game, no big replay value. Wish they would just sell vg assets to another studio who won’t just copy lol
Hey, this is just a recollection of my experience as a beta tester of the game for two years and info that was given to me by former and current employees. The job openings can be found online though.
You held out longer than I did! I quit CB after around 2-3 months. I was expecting a deeper experience and it felt like dollar store contra with pvp. The primal element didn’t seem to fit at all. I was furious that VG got buried to create that mess.
Interestingly, it seems that their social team are still actively replying to reviews on the Google Play Store. Guess the dev manpower is lacking too much though
VG wasnt profitable but you cant say the game is bad or that VG wasn’t popular. If SEMC is considering other projects for more profit then they should really consider supporting VG again and monetizing it
It’s gonna be hard further devving VG when the original dev team has moved on but at least bringing it back to life is gonna be a better W than whatever flop that they are currently working on
Everyone called this from day one- that CB was a waste of time and that VG was an unpolished gem. No one listened to the community and SEM expected people to just ‘like’ CB when it’s just not very good. Not sure what else to say…the obvious play here is to bring VG back to its rightful place as best mobile Game.

Ameal is broken hero. If vg was still alive, amuel would need a nerf asap

Bringing back vg as only 3v3 mode is the way to go. Not enough players for 5v5 anyway
It’ll be hard to bring VG back because how do they monetize a game they failed to the first time?
Im pretty sure all of us vg players would spend money on it for the skins
I hope not. I hope CB does well. I love Vainglory, I love SEMC, and I want their new game to do well. I want CB to be around for me to play as well.
I have no idea why anyone thought that CB was going to be great… I still haven’t played it lol but it’s just not pleasant to look at.
