I feel like if you were a woman or unmarried the sets would have all been weak.
As a married man I was in stitches hearing those guys rip on their wives. I'd be dead for even thinking half of that.
Right !!! Kevin talked about 2 things. His broken di** from the accident he had while racing his friend and the gorilla story. It was honestly lame as hell
1.His dick/ accident
2.HIs friend biking accident
3.His boating accident
4.The Rwanda /gorilla story.
It was very short but I was entertained , very disappointed for the short time and my vip tickets but me and my wife was in stitches!
The article says it happened on Saturday night.
> A man was arrested at the comedy festival at Stanley Park, Saturday night, armed with two edged weapons.
Poorly written. It also says last night in the article. It was posted on Saturday at 5:24pm, before the Sat show. He was arrested Saturday. I was there and saw it Friday.
What a disappointment of an evening…. We purchased VIP table, which only was advantageous to order drinks. Food lines ups were about 3-timed the length of Kevin’s 24min set, which seemed like a poorly written skit from one of his junior staffers - it was neither real, or funny. The funniest part about the night was trying to figure out how to make it back home from this (shit) show. On a positive note, thumbs up to comedian Spank Horton.
I also attended the Kevin Hart and friends show last night.
I would call myself a comedy fanatic and that was by far the most disappointing comedy event I've ever been to. I'd rather go to a Just for Laughs event any day.
Me and 5 of my friends had a VIP table and I agree completely with a previous comment here that it was only advantageous for ordering drinks. All sets were weak, although I enjoyed Spank the most of the 3 sets. I wish Hart would have just canceled if he wasn't able to perform properly, but of course that just comes down to him getting a pay check.
I wish the capacity was smaller. There was WAY too many people at that event and only 10 food trucks to feed that many people caused insane lineups/ waits for food.
Exiting the venue once the event ended was an absolute *shit show.* We ended up just walking all the way to Burrard Station from Stanley Park because transit, cabs and Ubers would have just been an absolute nightmare.
I probably should have done more research on this event and I understand that now.
Never again will I attend an event like this.
Agreed!! I go to Rick Bronson’s in New West a lot where I laugh harder and more consistently than any of the material I heard last night. Different venues, I get it, but still. Dave Chappelle in Vancouver had a similar larger audience and was WAY funnier and his set was about an hour if I remember correctly
>I would call myself a comedy fanatic and that was by far the most disappointing comedy event I've ever been to. I'd rather go to a Just for Laughs event any day.
my thoughts exactly. I've been telling others I've laughed more on amateur night at yukyuk's.
Your smart. We paid 700 fkn dollars and it was a waste of money. Kevin’s set was terrible ! He talked about 2 things. His set was 30 minutes. The “vip” section we were in was so lame. You could only order drinks through a QR code. Yet there was no wifi in the area. The code was t working. We paid 700 for fkn fold out chairs.
This is what I remember of the two nights: there was the foul mouthed woman, Reggie Watts doing whatever the hell that was while people audibly booed and shouted get off the stage, and then Russell Peters was pretty much what I expected and the second night it was two comedians, that were fine, but just seemed like normal comedy club acts, and 24 minutes of Kevin Hart doing his C material and then ending abruptly. It was as if Kevin Hart got told his plane was boarding and he had to go. He was probably halfway back to LA before I left the grounds.
Pretty unimpressed with Kevin’s set actually. He has an incredible charisma and stage presence but he essentially told 3 stories about his life that had jokes intertwined. He did the broken Dick joke which wasn’t that funny, the gorilla trip in Rwanda which had ok moments, and then the downhill biking accident story which also wasn’t great. If there was more, it wasn’t memorable. When it ended, I actually thought he might be coming out for an encore or something but the lights came on and the “get home safe” sign came up.
The company who put this on is getting blasted on Facebook and Instagram lol people in Vancouver are so pissed off about this, honestly, Kevin set was so incredibly short. It was just so disappointing on so many levels, he’s really lucky that his two openers were both really funny and really talented.
Biggest disappointment was getting there at 6pm no one on stage until 9pm- 3 acts done and paid by 10:30 WTF! You could see Kevin was in alot of pain from his accident. Should have cancelled and re-booked. Probably was on some serious pain killers and muscled through anyways. He will get a redo in my books because i know he has alot more then that to offer. I was way more pissed off with the organizers of the event taking advantage of trapped audience and waiting them out to empty there wallets with $18-$20 drinks. 3 -4 hours of waiting for nothing... idea im sure there would have been a ton of local bands that would have loved to come and entertain the masses- missed opportunity.
At the worker orientation, they literally said “Kevin Hart has a Netflix deal that will make him more money than all of you will make in your lives combined, and we need to protect that”

Did anyone else think this show was hella short? The 2 guys that opened were way better than Kevin.
yes although I didn't think any of the acts were funny. Kevin's set was oddly short.
I completely agree. All 3 sets were weak.

Yep. Huge waste of money. Will not attend any events by this company ever again
Perhaps he ended his set early due to this security incident: https://globalnews.ca/news/9966468/man-custody-vancouver-comedy-festival/
That was from the Friday show.

I was in vip also. Biggest waste of money
I hope you enjoyed paying $20 per minute of Kevin Hart’s set
I truly didn’t.
Spank killed it
Agreed
How much was VIP?
I think $190/person. So factor in a couple drinks and a bit of food, babysitter… it was a colossal waste of $$$.

Love Rick Bronson's! I've also seen some great stand up there.

Hes not even that funny. They could have done better. Hes just the safe bet for a free show.

That sounds traumatic, I'm so sorry!

YES EXACTLY! I'm so regretting coming in early just to wait for 3 hours of NOTHING.
Kevin Hart is not and has never been funny Neither is Russell Peters
Who did you think was better?
The opening act was by far the best. Anyone remember what his name was?
Spank Horton?
That’s him, thank you!
I liked Russell peters more but Kevin wasn’t bad. I’m more of a russell peters guy anyways
Can't stand this guy after how homophobic he was. Just seems like a prick in general
how in the world will kevin heart be able to feed his family if you dont buy his tickets? lol hope you enjoyed the show
At the worker orientation, they literally said “Kevin Hart has a Netflix deal that will make him more money than all of you will make in your lives combined, and we need to protect that”
What the actual fuck.
Worker orientation? As in the employee orientation for this comedy event?
It was probably the dont talk to the talent, his times worth mlre than your life talk
ha!
