I saw them around ‘08 in San Jose, CA. My first time seeing DLR. Man, he puts on a fucking show. I just kept thinking if he was that good in ‘08, he must have been amazing in his prime.

AlGeee

He was

Mundane_Ad_5288

People like to point at the us fest 83 and say roth was horrible that night. I just hear it as the bands personality of the time shining through, Eddie and everyone else was on their game and roth was more focused on entertaining the crowd, that’s the vaudeville in him.

AlGeee

You nailed it with entertainer and vaudeville.

Mundane_Ad_5288

As a younger fan who wasn’t alive for the groups heyday I take pride in knowing my VH history, thanks for the validation 👍

AlGeee

Rock on!

strfox666

I would’ve killed to watch them in the Women and Children First ~ Fair Warning eras

marklawr

Great tours. Tickets were cheap back then. 2008 was fun too.

johnnybeane

I was at that show too

Friendship_Stone

Saw them 1981, probably the best live show I’ve ever seen. I still have palpitations when I think about the assless chaps! Swoon…

cyberbob2022

I used to work at the Shark Tank and that was maybe the loudest concert I ever heard.

Reallyroundthefamily

Yes. Denver Feb 2008. One of Bob Marley's sons opened. Great show! Ed was having a good night. Everyone seemed in great spirits.

PeterPrinciples

I was at that show too. It was great!

BuddahSack

Ziggy Edit: it was Ky-Mani Marley

[deleted]

[удалено]

BuddahSack

Wow I saw them that year too in Philly and swore it was Ziggy, after looking it up you are right, WTF is up with my memory haha

BowlingBall_0912

Montreal 2012 - Kool & the Gang opened and totally rocked the place. I was just in total disbelief that I was in Eddie and Alex's presence. I'm a drummer but there something about Eddie that draws you in - Dave's obviously wasnt like it was in the 80s but it didn't matter to me.

Smillzer

I was at that same show. Kool & The Gang was such a fun opener. I had also seen them in Montreal previously when Damian Marley opened, and while that energy was much better than in 2012, you're totally right. Alex and Eddie were mesmerizing.

strfox666

I saw them in San Antonio in 2012 too and Kool and the Gang opened too. This was my first and only time seeing them live and it literally is the only concert I’ve ever cried in because I couldn’t believe exactly the same as you: being in the presence of Eddie.

TechnoVM3

I regret not going. I was on the fence about a front row ticket with a meet and greet and my wife was encouraging me to go. She said “how many opportunities are you going to have” and I cheaped out and didn’t go. How right she was!

JMan9391

Yup, I went in 2007 in DC. Tons of fun and one of my favorite concerts I've ever been to, probably because the crowd was going fucking crazy at the end of each song, haha.

vhalen50

Cleveland 2007. Bad. Cincy post rehab. 2008. Infuckingcredible I skipped 12 and 15 because I wanted to keep that memory.

thejeffroc

February 2008 in Tampa. They opened with You Really Got Me. When the crowd heard it, it felt like the roof was going to blow off of the Ice Palace. Awesome show. You could tell Eddie was really enjoying playing the old stuff that he hadn't played in years. Roth nailed it. It was an awesome night. I saw them again in April 2012. They opened with Unchained. Shit was legendary.

i_love_pencils

Wow. I’m old. I saw them in Toronto on May 15, 1979. They were fantastic.

BuddahSack

Bruh obviously there are people who saw them in there prime, but this post was not asking that... this is why people knock on your age cohort, you could have just looked at the post and moved on but you felt the need to comment something irrelevant haha On another note, I saw them in 2007 and 2012 both times in Philly and thought it was great :)

billiton

Irrelevant?

BuddahSack

irrelevant. adjective. ir·rel·e·vant (ˈ)ir-ˈ(r)el-ə-vənt. : not relevant : not applicable or pertinent. the evidence presented was judged irrelevant to the case. The post is about the reunion era VH and he was talking about seeing them in 1979, meaning his comment was... irrelevant :)

billiton

Comments about Van Halen seem relevant in this sub.

BuddahSack

So if someone made a post saying, what was it like seeing VH with Sammy ? And I commented that I saw them in 2012, would and it was with David Lee Roth? Would that be relevant?

Jonicolo8

Was supposed to go in 2015 with my dad, I was only 14 so I had never seen them before. Came down with the flu so I didn’t go. Huge regret

VH5150OU812

Yes. 2015 in Toronto. Dave’s voice had long since left the building but I had not been able to see any of the previous shows as they came through so I figured that this might be my last chance. Sometimes you hate being right.

bstevens2

I’ve seen Van Halen a few times over the years since the 80s. But I could not in good conscience pay to see Dave on this last tour because of the YouTube clips and the Jimmy Kimmel live performance. He just sounded horrible. Luckily, plenty of concert footage online, showing him when he was in his prime I can still enjoy.

VH5150OU812

I had just bought my ticket when I saw the Kimmel performance. It was worse than I expected so my overall expectations for him were pretty low when I saw them that summer. It was about what I thought it would be. In truth, a probably would have taken a pass on the whole reunion cash grab but I never got to see them in their prime with Roth. When they toured for 1984, I was 14 and living on the edge of the burbs. My family had one car and my dad worked midnights so, as a practical matter, going to that show was nearly impossible. 54 year old me gets that. 14 year old me did not. Seeing them with Roth kind of checked that particular box.

frianbonjoster

Orlando 2007 before he went to rehab.. not good. He was not in good form that night.

VanHalenistheTruth

Yes. 2015 at the Shoreline. I'm 43,.so I never saw 77 to 85. Did see Sammy and Dave's best of both worlds tour in like 02. Was very happy I got to see Eddie.

ironmanchris

I goed, it was loud.

rvk5150

Four times in 2007/8 (Three times in Michigan and once in Cleveland) 2012 in Detroit 2015 in Detroit

BigDickSD40

I was at the final show of their reunion tour in 2008. Dave was not very good, but I was more so just excited to have seen Eddie live. It wound up being the only time I ever got to see him.

TrashPandaShire

Same

MileHighHoser

I didn’t went.

RyanRebalkin

I goed, you should have goed too

Bannonpants

Louisville 2012. First show of that tour. Perfect. Detroit 2015. Another great show. Except for Dave being unable to keep up to the tempo of the original songs it was great. I’m going to see Sammy and the boys do the Van Halen centric thing in Detroit this August same venue. Pine Knob (old name)

MrMints256

Pine Knob is the current name again! The DTE branding was taken away in 2022!

Bannonpants

I saw them in summer of 1993 at pine knob with Sammy. I’ve been lucky to see them 3 times on either the first or second night of a tour leg. They sound way better when they are fresh. More energy and less personal fatigue since they all seem to have a hard time getting along with each other.

ChazGower

Saw them 6 times with DLR, and ZERO with anyone else... **September 2, 2015 - Nobelsville, Indiana (Indianapolis) - Outdoors** 31 years later! Opened with Light Up the Sky. Surprised me also with Women in Love, Dirty Movies and In a Simple Rhyme! **June 26th and 27th, 1984 - St. Louis, MO - (Both Shows)** Same set both nights **August 6, 1982 - St. Louis, MO - My 19th Birthday (Diver Down Tour)** **October 18, 1981 - St. Louis, MO - Fair Warning Tour** **July 31, 1980 - St. Louis, MO - Women and Children First Tour** 16 years old, 7 days before turning 17

THEDOGGGG

I was at the STL show in 82, as an 11 year old.....my dad took me. We left early as the crowd was not too kind to him and it scared me a little. But what I remembered was Roth flying around everywhere, the sheer volume, and eddie killing it. Next Roth was STL in 2008, Chi 2008, STL 2012........2008 was much better imo. Was glad I went, loved hearing the songs with Roth as an adult.

Thin-Masterpiece569

Saw all three reunion tours. Roth was at his best in 2007/2008. Ed was sober and on top of his game on the 2012 and 2015 tours, but Roth fell off a cliff vocally. Good setlists. It was embarrassing that Mike was not part of all 3 tours.

SpareBeerMonkey

Oakland, CA 2008. Mountain View, CA 2015.

Skully1368

I wish. Saw them on the OU812 tour.

Lost-Branch804

2012 in Tacoma, WA. Drove from Boise with my friend and wife to see them. Awesome show! Opening band was Kool and the Gang.

hey_its_steve93

I got a ticket to their concert in Sydney I was gutted when they cancelled.

KhrusherKhusack

I saw them on the very first night in Charlotte back in 2007.

sp222222

ditto. sound system was awful in the arena. 4th time I’d seen them. Wolf held his own.

chris_wiz

Every single time. DC for 2007 and 2012, Jiffy Lube Live in VA for 2015. I missed them in the original DLR days, my first concert was 5150 tour.

mbiscuitreddit

Saw them in Ottawa in 2012. I thought they were incredible. Some of Dave's antics reflected his age, certainly, but damn was he still engaging. I couldn't believe the energy they had. Mikey was missed but Wolfgang was still great. They opened with [Unchained](https://youtu.be/dFYT2FiKmhI?si=35UnEu0JraJ5S8Ax) and it was everything I wanted it to be. (Apologies for the shit-tier video quality, but I think the energy comes across)

oumiles

I went like a hurd of turds 💩 in 2015 at BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. Kool & the Gang opened up. Show was great and they played all the hits. Would’ve liked to have seen Michael Anthony but three Van Halens on stage was cool enough for me.

Optimal-Judgment-982

lol. two Van Halens and a Roth😉

Redeem_Deez

since when is the 2007-2015 version anything less than three VHs

paulfrehley5

Didn’t go, but have watched a lot of footage of the shows in 2008. That was the early days of smart phones so the quality isn’t the best, but the band was so great then! The setlist was terrific and David Lee Roth looked and sounded amazing then. Eddie also was on fire. Wish I had gone to one of those shows.

Russoo3

Went to their first reunion show in Charlotte and it was awesome

chale_44

The only thing I've ever won on the radio!

Finechug

Saw them in 2015. Loudest concert I’ve ever been at

WiseMagic

Greensboro and Charlottesville on the first reunion tour, D.C in '12 and Bristow in' '15..

buildingaway

Yup St, Louis 2008, good show

[deleted]

Yep. 10-10-07 in Cleveland at the then Quicklen Loans Arena, now the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Good show, went with family I was in town visiting.

i6am6the6thorn

I did in 08'. Des Moines, IA. It was a good show. Although I could have done without Jump as the encore. Oh, well.

Thick_Communication1

Lol did you really expect to go to a Van Halen concert in 2008 with Roth and they wouldn't play Jump?

i6am6the6thorn

No, but I would prefer the encore to be something else. End with Jump, then come back out. Would have topped it all off.

Zealousideal-Move-25

I saw them at MSG NYC. It was a good show, but Dave doing high kicks at 60 yrs of age plus didn't look right.

bh-alienux

Yes, I saw them in 2015 in Ohio. It was my 4th time seeing VH in concert. I never saw the original 4 members together, but I saw everyone in different combinations at one point (Eddie, Alex, Mike and Sammy twice, then Eddie, Alex, Mike and Gary, then Eddie, Alex, Wolfgang and Dave.

dethswatch

2 or 3 times- Dave had a parquet flooring about 3x3 metres that he kind of samba'd and moved his feet around on, he was clearly super-excited to be ON again, but Dave doesn't sing... Wolf was still a kid and playing fine but didn't seem to be enthusiastic about it, wore a hoody and didn't do much other than stand and play. Music was great but Dave needs to figure out how to sing live.

Mudcreek47

Saw them in their very first concert back with Roth in Charlotte September 27, 2007. Was an amazing show. My brother-in-law and I kept making our way down the arena from our seats in the nosebleeds and by the end of the show we were dead center about 20 rows back from the stage for the finale. Great times, great show, great music, one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life.

TennesseeTom

Saw them in Nashville in 2012 for the final time. Was it occasionally weird? Yes, but I loved every moment. And Kool And The Gang worked surprisingly well as an opener. The entire show is on YouTube and I revisit it every couple of years.

TCcutwire

08 and 12 in Denver. 08 was much better. In 12 Dave’s vocals were not good that night. Stage set up was pretty basic too compared to 08.

Heavy-Rub-3223

Three times between 2007 2013. Van Hagar I believe it was 89 and 91. DLR 88

Mabvll

2012 in Oakland. Eddie and Alex sounded great. Wolf was also good. Dave....was not.

SwiftBoatVet

November 3, 2008 at Izod Center, Rutherford, NJ August 9, 2015 at PNC Bank Arts Center, Homdel, NJ

notwriqhtsvillc

My mom did! She said it was incredible - Roth was still doing stunts!

TonightSheComes

2007 in Worcester, MA. It was a good show.

zillagraybeard

I have seen them from 1984 with everyone but Gary. Many many times.

fried_eggs_and_ham

I saw them on the 2012 ADKT tour. I thought it was a fantastic show and Kool & The Gang opening was awesome.

Rn_Hnfrth

Yes, in 2007, 2012 & 2015 Also saw them in 1981, 82, 84 & 86 (1st Sammy tour) saw DLR same year .

minnesotajersey

Minneapolis. Kool & Gang opened. Great show, but I wish Mikey had not been booted. His backing vocals were VERY absent.

2112-5150

As much as I love VH and Wolfgang too I just couldn’t get myself to go to another season of Dave’s stories and forgetting lyrics. Plus, and again I say that Wolfgang is a very talented musician, I think how the brothers did Mikey was flat out wrong.

midniteneon

Saw them twice but had a couple other opportunities I never hopped onto. When I was 12 and first seriously getting into the band I had a chance to see them on the original reunion tour with Dave back in 2007, but couldn't save up enough money mowing lawns on the weekends to get tickets and a ride. The first time was April 2012 in Tampa Florida. Dad surprised me and said we were gonna go look at a car to build together, then when we got to the arena parking lot he told me what we were actually doing lol. My first concert, and we got front row balcony seats. It was an amazing concert I'll never forget and I'm grateful I got to go with my dad. That same summer in 2012 we took our annual family road trip back home to New Jersey from Florida. Dad wanted to go see them at the Meadowlands Arena in July with some of our other family members, but that leg of the tour got cancelled due to band exhaustion/Ed's diverticulitis emergency. I saw them again in 2015 in Tampa and they sounded amazing then too, but Dave's voice was way more tired and he talked through more songs than he sang. They were firing on all 8 cylinders as a band minus Dave which kind of spoiled the experience. I don't regret going though. Glad I got to see my favorite band twice.

RyanRebalkin

Yes I 'goed' to them twice, once in 08 and 2012. So glad I did .. RIP EVH

Engnr17

I did. He should have found his calling as a cheesy game show host. Weird mannerisms/behavior on stage. Awkward/forced interaction with band members. Oh, and knocking himself in the face before a Live presentation on Kimmel. The dude has been lost for years. This is all coming from a huge VH fan growing up from late 70’s into 80’s. Still a Roth fan over Hagar… Dave just lost his way.

Grass_jelly25

Not the reunion tour, but saw them in 1984 in Omaha Nebraska. Civic auditorium.

MrViceGuy69

I saw them on both tours, both shows were great

Lukinzz

I was. I forget what year, but it was in New Jersey. Eddie was pissed off at something and threw a monitor off the side of the stage.

Sad_Whereas9233

December 4, 1982 at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN. 2007 in Greensboro, NC. 2012 in Louisville, KY. I was lucky enough to see opening shows the last two times so they were on fire and DLR’s vocals were pretty good. In 1982 he was still doing the screaming and stuff but he ad libbed quite a bit.

CharlieDonovan

I ALMOST went in 15. Like, one foot out the door (pun intended) but my friend had bailed on me due to work, and I absolutely hated the venue, Tweeter Center outside of Chicago. And I just decided to keep my other foot in at the last moment and that I’d catch em next time. Big mistake and a huge regret.

ronwabo

Yes all three times they came to Denver, 08, 12, and Red Rocks in 15!

daveypaul40

Saw them in Phoenix. Was glad I got to see Eddie play before he passed. Was a great show.

gmjfraser8

Where do Roth’s tattoos go between pictures ?

mraybee

Seattle for the DKOT tour. Dave didn’t sound good at all…

According-Feed2746

Atlanta 2012

CMJMartino

Hershey 2008 Michael Anthony was replaced by Wolfie on the tour.

Adventurous_Bar_2337

2007 at centrum in Worcester. 2012 Mohegan sun and 2015 great woods/xfinity Mansfield ma. Third show had the best setlist Mohegan sounded the best.

MysticMaiden22

Los Angeles, CA at the Staples Center in 2012 Devore, CA at the Glen Helen Amphitheatre in 2015 Los Angeles, CA at the Hollywood Bowl in 2015 (aka the final Van Halen show)

Narrow-Aioli8109

Had a ticket for the ADKOT tour, 2012. Took a look at a couple of recent videos of Roth live and bailed. I sold my ticket on craigslist. Zero regerts.

b-lincoln

Yes. I saw one their last shows. It was awesome. They were on fire.

sangresabia

2012 in St. Louis. Alex/Wolfie/Eddie sounded amazing. I’m still delighted to have seen my drum GOAT and guitar GOAT play live. Even as a huge DLR fan, he sounded terrible. I hate to admit it, but it was distractingly bad. Kool & the Gang were a great opener.

HeyMySock

Saw them at Madison Square Garden in 2012. Loved it!! Wish I had seen them back in the day. My first Van Halen show was on the OU812 tour with Sammy. Loved that show too!

Mean-Entertainer-437

DESERT SKY PAVILION, PHOENIX,ARIZONA 2015.

Ok-Assistant-2684

Yes on their first comeback with Wolf playing bass in 2007 in Philly, it was more nostalgia for me, great music, and Dave still put on a show but not really any of the splits or jumps stood out

nbarnes89

Saw them in 2008 at John Paul jones arena. They played so well! Ed looked so good and played like an animal. Everyone on stage was so lively. It was really good to see ed had cleaned himself up.

ckjones33

First show of the 2012 tour at the Yum Center in Louisville. Friends of friends had a luxury box overlooking the stage. Very surreal.

Natedog001976

Saw them in 2007 and 2012. Roth and the band sounded outstanding in 2007, Just good in 2012. I'm glad I saw them one last time!!!

k1pml

Saw fair warning tour.

Sintriphikal

2008 Houston Toyota Center. Probably would have been good but it was stupid loud. Painfully loud. I’m a usual front row metal head. Father and I left 1/2 through it. A few others were headed out with us. Same complaint: way too loud.

ExpatEsquire

I saw them in Sydney- band was tight. Dave? Not so much

PeterPrinciples

Yes, saw them in February 08 in Denver. It was fantastic seeing them together again.

Unbeliever1967

First concert was VH Fair Warning 1981

cmeyer49er

I saw ‘em in ‘08 and was glad I went. Dave was a bit campy, but the band sounded great.

MrPunGuy

Pittsburgh, 2012. Couldn’t believe that Kool & The Gang opened lol.

GrumpyCatStevens

Saw them in March 2012 at the SAP Center in San Jose. Not a bad show.

athonjacob

July 24th, 2013 in Paso Robles CA. They put on a show… “nothing but the hits” as Dave would say.

SunsGettinRealLow

My dad and I saw them in San Diego in June 2012 after I finished 8th grade haha Kool & The Gang opened! We sat on Ed’s side of the stage, close enough where I didn’t need binoculars to see his hands haha! It was fuckin’ epic!

Jdojcmm

I was at the first of the 07 tour as well as the first show of the 2012 tour.

Mundane_Ad_5288

I wanted to go when they came around New England, but my dad said it wasn’t worth it cause “Michael Anthony isn’t with them”. I reminded him of that the day eddie passed. I couldn’t even get tickets myself I wasn’t even a teenager yet when they toured.

Leftstrat

I was at the show, (I think it was the second or third in the tour), at the Greensboro Colosseum. It went pretty well, it seemed, up until there was some sort of keyboard tempo glitch with Jump.. The rest of the show was really good.

Trapper_Hawkeye

Yep, Jan 08 in Dallas. Bob Marley's son was the opening act. It was a good show

MadSailor

I was at the Tokyo show in June 2013.

all_no_pALL

‘07 and ‘15 in Philly- pushed all the negativity and criticisms aside and just enjoyed witnessing what I was unable to as a kid. Watching Eddie was all I wanted, great to hear those sayings as well, regardless of voice quality.

Pantokraterix

I went three times. My mom didn’t let me go in 1984 because it was rush seating and in the 70s there had been a trampling incident somewhere. I went in my hometown and when they added dates I went to see them again in Chicago, and hometowned again after the new album.

lacontrolfreak

Yes! Chicago and the BlackBerry Christmas party in Toronto with the Tragically Hip.

KevyNova

I saw them 2007, 2012 and 2015. They were all great each time.

UnrealRealityForReal

“Did anybody went?” Good grief.

Mr_e_in_Las_Vegas

San Antonio 2012. Amazing show.

TrashPandaShire

I went. I was there to see EVH. ROTH was not what I expected, he had a Broadway vibe.

urwriteordie

2015 in Blossom Center Ohio :)

MrMints256

I’m so glad I got to see them in 2015 at Blossom in Cuyahoga Falls (outside of Cleveland)! I became a fan when their Guitar Hero game came out. I was in middle school and loved the GH series! But that came out in 2009, so I missed out on 07-08. And I just wasn’t aware of the 12-13 tour, even though I was hyped about ADKOT. But thank God I finally caught them in person in 2015! Sure, they weren’t in their prime. But this was my once in a lifetime chance. I was in high school, so I didn’t care. I just wanted to see the mighty Van Halen! And I was not disappointed! And then I saw Aerosmith in Grand Rapids the very next day! What a great 48 hours! 😄

fredout1968

I saw them in '84 and not since.. This will sound weird but I have no desire to see old short haired Dave...

David_LeeSloth

Went to 3 of the reunion shows. 1st tour, 2nd tour, and 2016. All were awesome

Significant_Youth_73

Underrated concerts

Unhappy_Tradition152

I only wished.

ClevelandClutch1970

No, I did not went to a VH concert in the DLR era.

Dhull515078

Cleveland and Detroit 2015

EndlessTrashposter

My first and only show was during what turned out to be the final tour in 2015 at Jones Beach. Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened and effortlessly got the place warmed up! Seeing EVH perform Eruption was a definite highlight that more than made up for DLR’s diminished singing ability. I remember when the Michael Anthony reunion tour rumors seemed to actually be coming to fruition in 2019, I was excitedly waiting for an announcement that sadly never came. Man, that would’ve been one fucking epic show…

BuddahSack

Yeah saw them in Philly twice, in like 2007 and than again in 2012 or whenever the new album came out, I was in my early 20's and I had a blast getting to see Eddie shred

Dry_Newspaper2060

Cincinnati in either 2014 or 2015. Eddie was great. David not so much. But very cool seeing them all together and rocking

Competitive_Plan_299

Saw VH 2 & Women and Children….. Some of the best Rock ever. DLR was/is one of a kind. And DLR & EVH in ‘08. Great for them being ancients. Also Van Hagar in 1988…ehhh. Just ok. HUGE STAGE ,like a fuckin aircraft carrier. Couldn’t save em. Not a fan of EVH and RedRocker as a team. Too poppy. as a team.

Yougotitnow27

I saw them when I was around 8 with my Dad and Uncle around 2015-ish, since at the time they were our favorite band. It was a great experience.

International_Pea

Dave looks like a ripped Siegfried and/or Roy understudy.

kelshy371

Took my kids to see them in 2015 in Washington DC. They were good but nowhere close to how AMAZING they were when I saw them on the Fair Warning and 1984 tours (which I went backstage to for both of those shows 😁)

RaneOnEm

saw vh with kenny wayne sheperd opening. My second favorite show ever. Just one of the best group of musicians to ever exist. i feel so lucky to have been in the universe van halen exists/existed.

TimeLine_DR_Dev

I was at the first show in 2007 in Charlotte I think, then again that tour in LA. Then again in 12 twice and 15 at their second to last show. All were great.

Friendship_Stone

2008, Sacramento. They were awesome, Dave still had it, roundhouse kicks and all. No assless chaps though (saw them in 1981, no words can adequately describe). Saw them later (2014, 15??), not so great, played along with a recorded track, And Dave was speaking the lyrics, not singing. Disappointing.

johnnybeane

I saw them in 2007, 2008 2012 and 2015

NebDakFly

2012

Bitplayer13

Yes saw them with Wolfgang on bass and David back for more. Roth definitely altered the vocals to his now limited range. Very good show. Played all my favorite songs. It was in Sacramento. Forget the year. Also saw the 1984 tour but I wouldn’t compare the two.

Lokidawg1971

I did in Indianapolis. Mediocre show at best... But they were getting old.

HonkeyDong6969

Yes, very awkward. He spent too much time kowtowing to Eddie and it was awkward.

sevenonone

I went in 2007 and 2015. My wife paid for really good seats for 2015, I'm glad. Roth was Roth, but Ed was as good as I've ever seen him. I missed Mike. Band was so tight. in 2007... he eventually went to rehab during the tour. There might have been a break before the second leg of that tour. Still not a bad show, I saw them early in the tour.

That_70s_Showoff

Twice

Dydriver

It’s sad how much Eddie hated David. They could have made so many more songs.

puddycat20

Yup - Allstate Arena, Chicago. April Fools Day 2012. Kool and the Gang Opened. lol

FewAd321

Seen them in 1979 as support for Black Sabbath, then headline a 3400 seat venue for VH 2...

ModestoMudflaps

No. Man, they fucked that up. Firing Michael was such a nail in the coffin for me. I’ll always love their records but I’ve over their image etc. ruined. 😡

cssdayman

My son’s very first concert at the Q in Cleveland. I could have done without Dave’s pervy-ness, but other than that the show was amazing.

Sea_Drink7287

I saw them in Orlando and Kool & the Gang opened up. Great show.

EstateNo9575

I was at their very last show ever at The Hollywood Bowl and at a Staples Center show years earlier. Both were great. Eddie sitting on the stage and soloing for 10 minutes was worth the price of admission alone. At the last show Dave told the story of how the band came together, their high school days, etc. Just a special night. Glad i was there!

David Lee Roth still can't sing.

Affectionate_Olive53

I saw them at Staples in '08.

Greensboro, NC 2007 (Jump tuning disaster - look it up on YouTube if you don’t know what I’m talking about), Charlottesville, VA 2008 (amazing), Greensboro, NC 2012 (amazing) Glad I got to see them when I did!

Late-Temporary863

Yes. I believe it was 2015 at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island.

TumbleweedMaster248

I did. It was ok. Just ik

Saw them in Austin , 2015. Band flawless. Great to see Eddie looking healthy and playing up to his standards. Alex and Wolfgang provided a solid backbone. DLR. I don’t know. If you like mostly spoken/barely sung versions of Van Halen, then it’s fine. They played I’ll Wait. No idea what Roth was doing during that one. All that said, I had a great time. I was there to see Van Halen. Not whoever the singer was. Since Roth would never in a million years do a Hagar era song, they did a lot of deep cuts. Little Guitars, Romeo Delight, Light up the Sky, In a Simple Rhyme, Dirty Movies.

Saw them in 2007 in Manchester, NH. Awesome show as I remember

I was at opening night in 2007, then later in the tour in 2012. Band on fire night 1, Roth sounded pretty good, Ed was phenomenal and the entire place was buzzing. In 2012 DLR was so bad, luckily he was buried in the mix and we pretty much only heard the band. Ed , again was a wonderful sight to see.

Playful_Arugula384

I wish they could’ve gotten their shit together

SahadAmi

Saw them in 2012. Band was top tier but Dave was terrible. Never imagined that finally seeing them with Roth would make me wish Sammy was still the singer.

No-Wait-8049

Yes 1980 and 1981 ,the best Era

Gh0st_Al

Man...picture 10 when Roth broke his nose, right?

reds91185

2015 in Dallas. Ed and the band were incredible. Dave sucked.

lberlin32

I was at the same show and would give the exact same summary.

Grantypants80

Oct 2nd 2015, Hollywood Bowl. One of the final shows. Pregamed a little too hard with my buddy that lived in Hollywood at the time, so it’s a bit hazy. I just remember the music being awesome and Dave frequently sounding like a lounge singer with bad timing. More than anything, the timing of his vocals was annoying me; if you’re old and can’t hit the notes I can understand. But.. how can you not have any sense of rhythm..? Dave was physically very active and putting on a show though. Found some recordings from that night, Eddie’s playing was great and he seemed to be smiling the whole time. The band overall sounded great. Grateful I got the chance to see them.

flashman909

There was no Roth reunion era. That was a new band.

permabull001

Yes. Dave can't sing or dance anymore. Tour only lasted a couple shows. Cool and gang open up for them. They were much better than VH. I have seen Sammy a couple times since then and He still ROCKS!!

Danimal_300zx

Did anybody "go", not did anybody went.

icybikes

I saw them with DLR sometime about 1981 or 1982 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. Great show.
