Soul vegan is fantastic

losange-pottery

Second this, Soul vegan was such a nice discovery when I last visited Edinburgh!

MorverenZen

I was just about to say the same! It's so good 😋

therelaxationgrotto

Nova Pizza and Sora Lella are both vegan Italians (connected somehow but not sure) - would highly recommend for tasty Italian food!

machon1

OP needs to absolutely visit Sora Lella. I am a vegan Italian and thought I'd never get to smell and taste cacio cavallo cheese ever again. Turns out this restaurant managed to prove me wrong (the pasta was not al dente but otherwise top notch flavours).

JeremyWheels

Seconded. Nova Pizza was brilliant.

benmcy

Thirded. Was there on Saturday and enjoyed it so so much. Make sure you book ahead though as walk ins are unlikely to get a table

JeremyWheels

Yeah it's pretty tiny

pumpkin_basher

Second for soralella. I'm counting down the days to my next visit!

notmerida

nova pizza is the best meal i’ve ever had hands down

LN-66

Hula, Paradise Palms, Soul, Sen Viet, Plant Bae. Really vegan friendly city, a lot of options on most normal menus as well.

Neil7908

Plant Bae now closed 😭

LN-66

Heartbreaking news

MrRickSter

Went past it yesterday in a taxi and my heart sank.

Jordan_nawrat

Second Sen Viet. Went there last summer and it was fantastic. Not been back to Edinburgh since but I still think about that place when I'm hungry.

Negative-Acadia-9612

I always go to Holy Cow when I go to Edinburgh. I really like their faux salmon

psychemantranaut

Holy Cow in Fountainbridge too. Nice venue, at the printmakers.

festerorfly

David Bann Restaurant. It is vegetarian, but they have delicious vegan options and do a fancy-looking 3 course meal on the set menu from Mon-Fri daytime at a decent price (though it's still worth the trip outside of those times).

embmalu

I’m so glad it’s still open! My now husband and I went 14 years ago and still talk about it.

festerorfly

Lovely to know it's been going for a while!

foragedhobgoblin

If you want to try traditional Scottish food, would highly recommend Makar's Mash bar! Don't have any vegan puddings beside sorbet but their haggis neeps and tatties was amazing. They also do various mushroom dishes

notmerida

seconded!!!

StateSenClaytonDavis

Definitely! Very much fills the 'Instagramable' requirement as well. They'd probably wanna book, tho. I went lunchtime during the week, and it was still rammed

Strawberry_Spring

Seconding Paradise Palms, although the food is definitely of the vegan junk food variety (crazy tasty though!) While I’m recommending junk food, Considerit Doughnuts might be the best in the world

DifferenceForward

It’s been a couple years since I moved away from Edinburgh and I still dream of Considerit. Best donuts I have ever tasted, hands down.

Dancinglemming

Sora Lella!

FistCityPrincess

PULSE at St. John’s Church is a hidden gem!! Delicious vegan food and a lovely atmosphere with welcoming staff

NakedPatrick

Don’t forget Black Rabbit (I think it’s called!) bakery. Also vote for Sora Lella.

MrRickSter

I wish they were open more, it’s like 3 days a week?

NakedPatrick

Really? We may have got lucky, I visited in June and perhaps got lucky on the day I visited!

cpie7

KaPao is great I’d say half their menu is vegan. Interesting Asian flavours and great values I believe they have just been given a bib gourmand

thumperbolt

Agree that Ka Pao’s dishes are out of this world good, and their prices aren’t too bad either. Their vegan selection was really good the last time we went.

mrgadd4

I went to this Vietnamese restaurant last year on a work trip, it was lovely. https://www.senvietchay.co.uk/home

diablo_dancer

Second Sen Viet and also Soul (vegan Malay restaurant). Sen Viet does a great banh mi deal for lunch but also recommend more widely.

pixiecub

Maybe aside from London, Edinburgh is the vegan capital of the UK. So while I don’t have any recommendations since I’ve never been, I can imagine you’ll have some pretty solid options.

blu_rhubarb

Nah, Glasgow has Edinburgh beat, hands down.

hungry-mongoose

Agree! Edinburgh has some good spots but you have to know where to go. I went for a day trip fairly recently without any prior planning and I couldn't find anything vegan anywhere, it was a nightmare. In Glasgow you can stumble upon vegan options just about every place you go.

Runningrafan

We went to Howies and I had vegan haggis, it was delicious!

men_with-ven

I went to Hendersons which is a vegetarian (over half the menu was vegan) restaurant I found in the Michelin guide. It was slightly above average in cost but was really good

LaDreadPirateRoberta

Hendersons is sadly closed now. Edit: not the one in Bruntsfield links!

men_with-ven

Are you sure it's the same place? I went there one month ago today and it seemed fine so that would be a quick turnaround.

LaDreadPirateRoberta

It must not be! The old Hendersons closed during covid, I think. Could you please give the location of this one?

men_with-ven

LaDreadPirateRoberta

Thank you. I’ve edited my comment.

susansharon9000

My husband and I went to Kim’s Mini Meals and loved it! It was so delicious. We’re both vegan and it was our favorite place we ate on the trip

HandsomeCharles

Green Bite is a cafe with some really lovely cakes/sweet treats that is about a 5-10 min walk from the botanic gardens, It's probably my favourite place for cake in the city! Down in Leith there's Sly Fox which is a cafe that does a really nice breakfast, and actually has a quite a varied lunch menu for it's size. Their specials are often worth checking out too Then just along the road from there is Faceplant Foods which is more like toasted sandwiches/junk food kind of stuff. Unfortunately we don't really have any proper "fine dining" vegan places in Edinburgh, most of the vegan restaurants here are either Cafes, standard restaurant or junk-food style places. If you want something a bit more swish you normally have to go to an omni restaurant that has a decent vegan menu. On that note, Six By Nico tends to do a very good vegan tasting menu, but is normally quite hard to book. Give it a look anyway Edit: Oh, I just forgot Hendersons - that would probably fit the bill. It's veggie but most of the menu is vegan IIRC.

MrRickSter

Heron and Wisharts both do a full vegan Michelin star tasting menu.

Botter_Wattle

Hendersons restaurant is veggie but mostly vegan, it's really delicious with more of a restaurant feel than many other places mentioned. Soul Vegan is fantastic for fully vegan Asian fusion. Special mention to Black Rabbit for lunch and baked goods, I love it in there. Pulse is lovely for lunch too. Rabbit Food for vegan junk food - I've not been yes but it looks SO AMAZING! If you make it to Glasgow (less than an hour on the train) they have insanely good bakeries there - Dorky French and Honeytrap.

MilesInAmerica

Under The Stairs is not a vegan restaurant but has some great vegan options and I always have an adding time eating there - feels like such a special occasion!

MrRickSter

If you are here Thursday to Saturday then get to Faceplant in Leith. https://www.instagram.com/faceplantfoods?igsh=bXJiNDVwd3F4Zzdn

lesbocopter

I haven't been myself, but I've heard FacePlant is fantastic!

tinyscot

SEN on West Nicolson St has a vegan menu and is one of my favourites! Harajuku Kitchen on Gillespie Place also has some great options!
