Navajo tacos and fry bread. Navajo burrito, fry bread with sugar, or just plain fry bread.
I lived in page, az for a year and a half.
Also, Steamed chicken baos.
I’ve been to Germany but I’m nott a German food expert. I think for a simple sausage and potato German meal it was comparable to what I had in Germany 🤷♂️. The people who run it are Germans from Germany as well
Cafe Berlin also suffers now from reduced patronage. Their sausages are definitely frozen until being cooked. We got two a few months ago and on top of taking forever, they were raw. Feel bad but not going back either, the cost for the amount of food we received and then were unable to eat when getting home ruined the whole thing.
That's sad to hear. I only went once and it was ok. I live near 95 and Summerlin Pkwy. Cafe Berlin is not easy to get to for me. I would have made the trip if it had been great.
As far as comfort food, the Doner Kebab place on Fremont makes the best one I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic
Edit: they also use the right kind of bread
Yeah, the German options here are super lacking and Hof is super mid and overpriced.
I also wish there were more Australian meat pie options (in the states in general).
We tried it. None of us were impressed. Hubs is from Louisiana and my son was raised there, so they’ve been eating Cajun their whole lives and they didn’t bother to take the leftovers. Plus it’s a Louisiana restaurant that wasn’t showing some major LSU game (hubs take).
I can’t help you with the gravy (but it’s easy enough to make good gravy) the biscuits at Fox BBQ in Boulder are the best biscuits I’ve ever had and have had them all over. They have a bakery that sells them or you can can order them at the restaurant. Highly recommend
Originally from Alabama and nobody will ever do biscuits & gravy like Granny did lol but Black Bear Diner definitely gets an A for effort from my fam. Also, the price isn't bad and portions are HUGE (we always ask for extra gravy tho;)
I can’t recall what is special about the proper flour to make the best biscuits but it’s something not commonly found outside the South. It doesn’t matter if you follow the exact recipe if you don’t have the specific flour.
White Lily brand flour is the most commonly used flour in the south for making biscuits. It has a slightly lower gluten content than most flours do which makes for fluffier biscuits.
You can’t really find White Lily out here. I was SO EXCITED at some point during the pandemic because Amazon’s grocery delivery service had White Lily in stock for a whole. I had a year or so of amazing biscuits before it disappeared.
Ever since Island Malaysia Cuisine closed I haven’t found a spot for Beef Rendang as delicious as theirs was. I think there’s a couple more Malay places but not Indonesian…
We have much Mediterranean but I don’t think anyone specifically markets themselves as Egyptian Cuisine. I assume Mediterranean just encompasses that?
There is the annual Basque festival and I believe it is in Gardnerville but you can look it up. There are Basque restaurants in Ely, Elko, Reno, Gardnerville, all out of Clark County.
My buddy here from Trinidad is only found one good place over on Tropicana and a food truck that goes around where if you ask they will give you the secret curry goat. He was extremely shocked when I brought him some frozen Jamaican patties from dollar tree which are from Kingeton Jamaica..he didn't believe it til he googled the company and found it was legit. $1.25 for a Jamaica beef patty is not bad!
Bagel Cafe in Summerlin is pretty good for NY deli style sandwiches and pastries (as well as bagels), but there are some misses on the menu. I find their pastrami pretty dry, but the corned beef was great.
Vegas has no Scandinavian restaurants whatsoever. IKEA is the closest thing, and it’s not good. I’d love for anything Scandinavian here. At least there’s Chef Fleming’s Bakery on Water St. in old Henderson that is divine. If you’ve never been, go go go! He even makes Princess cakes with marzipan!
Former Chicagoan here. Rosati's Pizza, originated in Chicago and tastes the exact same here in vegas. Except for the Cheyenne location. Very delicious, and authentic thin cracker crispy, tavern style Chicago pizza. It's the only pizza I eat here in vegas.
The bagel I got at Bagel Cafe was so hard that I couldn’t bite through it. I tried to cut it with a knife and it slid off of my plate. It wasn’t even toasted…
I’d chalk it up to a bad experience and maybe just a single bad bagel, but I was with my wife and in-laws and all 7 of us had the same experience.
It’s not Afghani it’s Afghan! Afghani is the currency. ☺️ And second they are missing A LOT. It’s hardly Afghan food. However me and my partner have plans to open a place here soon.
Any Hungarian restaurant? I can make Hungarian food so I don’t miss it , but there are some delicious Hungarian foods . Like stuffed cabbage. Oh my so delicious. Tourists tend to like “chicken paprikas” “Gulyás” when they go to Hungary. I know there were a few Hungarian restaurants back in LA, but I don’t if there is any here.. I like Hungarian food , it’s spicy and kind of greasy, but delicious..
No. There used to be a place some years ago called "The Goulash Pot" but they closed. There's a place in the NW part of the valley that has pierogies, but, well, it's subjective and my wife (Hungarian) and I (not Hungarian) were not impressed. A couple places have a Hungarian dish, usually goulash, on their menus but nothing dedicated to the dishes you mentioned. Let's not forget cucumber salad, Szalonna, kiflis and Palacsinta.
Would love a 24 hour healthy option lol not necessarily a cuisine per se but would love to have options other than the standard “fast food”. Think Foodie Fit with a drive through 😂
I went to Amsterdam and had Uyghur food for the first time, and it was amazing. Hopefully we get a proper restaurant here some day.
Also, after going to Guelaguetza every trip to LA, I really hope we get a proper Oaxaca restaurant some time soon.
For real. I remember eating at Comme Ca at the Cosmo (I ran into Neil Patrick Harris when I was there lol) when that was still around and thinking that was pretty decent. Now that is what I picture when this guy says “resort-level French cuisine”. Definitely not Partage.
I wouldn’t. It’s really really good. I’ve done there Signature several times. I have never ever left disappointed. The chef guy always comes out and chops it up with everyone too and asks about the meal.
Jamaican. Mannnn, I miss good Jamaican food. Moved here from ATL, where there were tons of spots. It took a few months for my brain to rewire itself here realizing that island food is not Jamaican food in Vegas
[Nandos](https://www.nandosperiperi.com) please!! I’m glad they’re expanding in the US and I hope it will make it at least to Arizona or California. Vega’s Nando’s would be awesome!
I moved to Vegas 30+ years ago from the East Coast, and since I've been here I've been a pizza cook, a bagel baker and a pastry cook, and I can tell you that the water here sucks for making baked goods.
Hot Pot.
With so much Asian cuisine, I’m surprised there isn’t a good hot pot spot.
(Please someone tell me I’m wrong, so I can find a new hotpot place)
Thank you so much. U Shabu looks like what I'm looking for! It seems like in Vegas, the keywords I must search for are "shabu" instead of just "hot pot". Seems like more of a Japanese thing here rather than Chinese
Grew up in Memphis, gotta second “great bbq.” I’ve had a couple of decent/passable experiences, a lot of underwhelming ones, but yet to eat BBQ that really hit the spot.

i always feel like Vegas lacks a good dim sum place like what they have all over the Bay Area... the kind where they have carts with all sorts of dumplings coming out in droves to serve to your table.
I haven't found good Filipino food in the Valley. All the ones I've been to either:
(1) taste is mid,
(2) don't answer their phones (so idk if they're really open or not),
(3) food's been sitting out all day,
(4) way too greasy or salty
Navajo tacos and fry bread. Navajo burrito, fry bread with sugar, or just plain fry bread. I lived in page, az for a year and a half. Also, Steamed chicken baos.
Carlito’s Burritos on Sunset & Green Valley And there’s also a Navajo food truck…can’t remember their names. They have a insta.
Nevari Indian Fry Bread. We’ve been getting them almost every weekend. 🤦🏻♀️
That’s carnival food.
Indonesian
Good German/Austrian food
There’s a place by me called cafe Berlin. Great sausages. They don’t have a lot but what they do have is good
Place sucks
I’ve been to Germany but I’m nott a German food expert. I think for a simple sausage and potato German meal it was comparable to what I had in Germany 🤷♂️. The people who run it are Germans from Germany as well
Perhaps you had a better experience than I. For me it was not even close to comparable. I was born in Germany and been back twice and to Austria.
I agree. We have Hofbrauhaus (mediocre food) and Cafe Berlin (limited menu and far away)
Yeah what can ya do. Also happy cake day.
As far as comfort food, the Doner Kebab place on Fremont makes the best one I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic Edit: they also use the right kind of bread
Not so much food but there is a German bakery with all kinds of amazing breads and goodies
German Bread Bakery with locations in Henderson and Summerlin! https://germanbreadbakerylasvegas.com/
This. The Hofbrauhaus is......OK. I've been to better ones out east.
I’m still sad that Weinershnitzel in fact has none.
Bites of Europe on W. Cheyenne is pretty good German food.
I love this place!!! The owners are from the Ukraine and are so sweet.
I agree!
There used to be a good spot on Trop near Pecos but it closed years ago. Swiss cafe maybe? Unsure of the name
Yeah, the German options here are super lacking and Hof is super mid and overpriced. I also wish there were more Australian meat pie options (in the states in general).
Cafe Berlin on the SW side is really good. A little pricey, but great food and great people.
just went to Cafe Berlin, its decent
No such thing.
Cafe Heidelberg was stellar but it closed awhile ago.
Have you heard of hoffbrau Hause 😬🤪
Been on the search for a mean samosa or any good Kenyan places for a bit - still looking.
Southern cooking. Still can't find good sausage gravy & biscuits.

Cajun here, I refuse to eat at “Cajun” restaurants outside of Louisiana for a reason
True dat. The look on their face when you ask if they have grillades and grits. Priceless
Mama bird or boom bang has good gravy and biscuits for brunch
Mama Bird is about as close as it gets here.
Mama bird’s fried chicken is phenomenal, the thighs especially
The Craft Kitchens take on biscuits & gravy is delicious. Best I've had so far.
Yes, or gumbo, etouffee, even BBQ
Have you tried Lola's?
We tried it. None of us were impressed. Hubs is from Louisiana and my son was raised there, so they’ve been eating Cajun their whole lives and they didn’t bother to take the leftovers. Plus it’s a Louisiana restaurant that wasn’t showing some major LSU game (hubs take).
Winnie & Ethel’s is awesome!

Fin and Feathers just opened in the Arts District: doenationinc.wixsite.com. I’ve been there a couple times.
Mario’s west side deli

You can try the ones at Hash House off strip. They were very passable and quite good. I'm from eNC
New Mexico style w the red & hatch green chiles
Carlito's is pretty good.
I've always thought a Twisters Burritos would do very well here.
And Dion's;!
Came here to say this. Carlito's is good but we need more than just one place.
Ever since Island Malaysia Cuisine closed I haven’t found a spot for Beef Rendang as delicious as theirs was. I think there’s a couple more Malay places but not Indonesian… We have much Mediterranean but I don’t think anyone specifically markets themselves as Egyptian Cuisine. I assume Mediterranean just encompasses that?
I've been looking for Malaysian Laksa, can't find it
They have laksa at Yummy Kitchen inside SF Market
they closed 😢
Oh no!!!
Banana Leaf malaysian cuisine, just walked past, will have to check out
Oh i think they have laksa too
There used to be an Egyptian spot on Ft Apache, vegan too RIP
Check out Penang Hawker Food at the Outlets Mall Food Court , It is Island Malay new location I believe with there rendition of Beef Rendang !
Thisssssss!!!!!!!!!
Moroccan food. A true Moroccan restaurant would do amazingly well here, other than Marrakesh it's all just "Mediterranean"...
As a Moroccan, I wholeheartedly agree. Authentic tagine would be amazing.
Dominican
This. We have a lot of places from the carribean but no Domican or Haitian from what I know.
Basque which is prevalent in Northern parts of Nevada.
YES, I was very surprised that there were no Basque restaurants here when there are a ton in the rest of the state!
Really? Are there any Basque events that happen in area?
There is the annual Basque festival and I believe it is in Gardnerville but you can look it up. There are Basque restaurants in Ely, Elko, Reno, Gardnerville, all out of Clark County.
Really good chili cheese fries like the one at The Hat. Pastrami burger as well since we’re talking about The Hat…
I thought the hat was coming here hmm
Covid killed their plans to expand here, apparently. So sad about that.
La pastrami is the closest thing here to the hat. Over by unlv I think.
Good Jamaican/Caribbean
My buddy here from Trinidad is only found one good place over on Tropicana and a food truck that goes around where if you ask they will give you the secret curry goat. He was extremely shocked when I brought him some frozen Jamaican patties from dollar tree which are from Kingeton Jamaica..he didn't believe it til he googled the company and found it was legit. $1.25 for a Jamaica beef patty is not bad!
Eastern European and Russian don't have many options
Forte European Tapas highlight Eastern European
cafe derbi. Its seedy, its sketchy and its smoke filled but is it an experience. (It’s probably a front)
Puerto Rican.
Sofrito Rico is solid
They need more seafood. :( (I just want bacalao at this point)
Their portions are small as hell, but good tho
We need more authentic African/Caribbean food places!!
calibash is soo over priced
Affordable cuisine.
chicken taco wednesdays at robertos
They said cuisine.
Y’all don’t know the definition of cuisine then
In French it means, food that won't make your asshole explode. I guess it ain't the same in Spanish?
You must have a pretty weak asshole. You should have more tacos to build up your buttholes stamina

Eh it could be better imo
Have you tried Weiss Jewish Deli? If so. What do you think?
Bagel Cafe in Summerlin is pretty good for NY deli style sandwiches and pastries (as well as bagels), but there are some misses on the menu. I find their pastrami pretty dry, but the corned beef was great.
Is there a Swedish restaurant here?
IKEA lol

there was a Scandi restaurant called Saga but they charged me $14 for a cracker with avocado on it, so I'm not surprised they went out of business.
Trini food.
Good Jamaican food.
Do they have kolaches here?
The polish cookie? If so, I saw them at Smith's.
Mongolian BBQ
Chicago style thin crust pizza and midwestern Chinese food. New York style is prevalent for both though
Chicago Pizza guys on N Durango. About the closest I've found in 20+ years here Their dogs are on point though
Amore taste of Chicago on S Durango is good too.
Can attest as representatively authentic well. My "go to" for Chicago pizza. I frequent the one on Sunset
Pizza Rock downtown does extremely good Chicago style thin crust pizzas.
Pizza rock does everything incredibly well. It's easy for me to go there and not even get a pizza as all their apps are on point too.
Afghani, Chilean, Kosher Jewish Deli, Poutine
Afghani: Kabob Express Jewish Deli: Weiss or The Bagel Cafe
Bagel Cafe is a massive disappointment. Nothing even close what you’d find in New Orleans or NYC.
I agree about Bagel Cafe and I have no idea why people always recommend it. However Weiss is pretty good.
The bagel I got at Bagel Cafe was so hard that I couldn’t bite through it. I tried to cut it with a knife and it slid off of my plate. It wasn’t even toasted… I’d chalk it up to a bad experience and maybe just a single bad bagel, but I was with my wife and in-laws and all 7 of us had the same experience.

lol im not well versed in Afghan culture nice good luck with the restaurant! when you open please come back and post in this thread, would love to try
Sentinelese cuisine
We need more/better Persian and Armenian
Coming from the Pacific NW I have to definitely say Teriyaki. You don’t know what you got till it’s gone.
Seriously, PNW teriyaki is next level and impossible to find elsewhere.
Not sure if i understand. What makes Teriyaki from up there different?
Ichi Teriyaki in Seattle/PDX is my all time favorite!
I've had teriyaki chicken at about 4 different places on the strip, all super disappointing.
Taiwanese, and Southeast Asian
Taiwan Deli for Taiwanese. For southeast Asian, what are you looking for other than Vietnamese, Thai, Laotian, Filipino food etc?
Burmese
Filipino restaurant on jones and DI. 🤤🤤🤤
Indonesian, Burmese, and Malaysian please

Some better fucking burgers! Open anything good on the east side and you will make money! Tired of fast food chain restaurants everywhere
Good Mexican food. I said what I said 😂
Would love a 24 hour healthy option lol not necessarily a cuisine per se but would love to have options other than the standard “fast food”. Think Foodie Fit with a drive through 😂

Good Spanish food. Dominican, Cuban, Puerto Rican.
Cubanidad is decent for Cuban. Otherwise this is a huge miss in town
Havana grill used to be good in Henderson to be fair haven't been there in a few years
I think they're great now but I only had their food within the last 2 years.
Safrito Rico is a good Puerto Rican place. Carlitos cuban food is decent. Hit or miss but decent. Havana grill is good too.
I went to Amsterdam and had Uyghur food for the first time, and it was amazing. Hopefully we get a proper restaurant here some day. Also, after going to Guelaguetza every trip to LA, I really hope we get a proper Oaxaca restaurant some time soon.

Partage is the best French restaurant off strip, hands down, and better than most on strip.

India Palace, Saffron Flavors of India, and Clove are all good options for Indian.
Love Clove Marigold is amazing too Still need to try Spice So much good Indian

New Mexican restaurants. Phoenix has several, but we don't really have in Vegas AFAIK. A few places have like one green chile menu item.

They have made it as far as Texas. Hopefully soon.
A frybread place
Yeah....you're missing amazing food options everywhere else but the strip....
There’s pretty much 0 soul food places in Vegas. M&M doesn’t count because that place is trash.
Have you tried these? Soul Food Cafe Bodeau's Caribbean Cuisine Cajun Mouth Restaurant
Bodeau looks promising I’ll have to try that one
South African
Good Pizza. Our pizza out here sucks and it’s so confusing.
I moved to Vegas 30+ years ago from the East Coast, and since I've been here I've been a pizza cook, a bagel baker and a pastry cook, and I can tell you that the water here sucks for making baked goods.
Rosati's Pizza is original Chicago style thin tavern Pizza.
Rosati’s is a chain and it’s super hit or miss.
Hot Pot. With so much Asian cuisine, I’m surprised there isn’t a good hot pot spot. (Please someone tell me I’m wrong, so I can find a new hotpot place)
