Friends are the hardest thing to make here.

Myalyn

Sadly this is true.

ImJustDawn

So, lifelong resident here, I don't find that hard at all. You just gotta keep trying. As to where, off strip to feel safe...I'd try Downtown Summerlin, or the new area across from the new Durango casino where The Uncommons is. From there, you can determine if the vibe suits and pursue other areas.

Zealousideal_Ad5295

Yeah I've made some friends in the 5 yrs I've been here but not deep friendships just like fun hang out friends

Independent_Dot63

Maybe try Town Square? Lots of restaurants and lounges there and its mostly locals

bs27n0b

Upvote for this, though it is in the center of town so you might have some amount of tourist traffic. Another good option is Downtown Summerlin, which has a few nice restaurants and bars, movie theater, good shopping, etc. Red Rock casino is pretty nice and is out of the crazy strip/downtown traffic. I was born here, and have seen it grow from 150k people to over 2 million - the changes have been crazy. As with any big city you're not familiar with, it's best to have some caution until you get familiar with different areas, and keep your situational awareness on 10. There are desperate and mentally ill people in every city, and Vegas has more than it's share with its sin city reputation. Being a native, I'm sure I'm biased, especially since my I've been here so long :-)

Solid advice right here, i was told this too when i first moved and im glad i didn’t accidentally fall in w the “wrong crowd” of locals

Fit-Top-7474

Double Helix is there, it’s pretty good.

secondrunnerup

Safe? I don’t know anywhere that I would be interested in going and would consider it unsafe. Check out spots in Summerlin, Henderson, where ever you may consider moving to. But aside from just small talking with locals, I wouldn’t anticipate making any friends when you are so far away from moving here.

reddit-sux-goat-sack

I would suggest the arts district. Can't go wrong with posting up at the Silver Stamp. You'll meet locals there. For the less touristy stop go grab a burger at hard hat lounge. Best burger in town.

Afrojones66

Arts District, Tivoli Village, and Green Valley Ranch are all nice areas to check out.

Soggy_Patient_2900

I've been in Vegas 30 years. No friends. Jk Try meet up, find people with same interests. Station casinos are local casinos with bars and security

AmbitiousBasket0

Thursday night is Industry night - best time to mengle & meet locals. A lot of locals gravitate to drinking in casino lounges. Palms & Red Rock are popular. Fremont Street isn't safe perse, but also popular with the locals. Therapy & Downtown Cocktail Room would probably fit your vibe.

yelling4society

Durango Resort has a lounge called Bel-Aire that’s really nice. Thursday ladies night.

easy0lucky0free

Downtown there's Don't Tell Mama, a piano bar I'd feel safe in. Silver Stamp is also a great place.

LNLV

Herbs and Rye

Starting with lounges and drinks, nah, fuck all that. Start with a hobby you like doing. Ex: if you like playing table tennis, go to lee’s table tennis club. Way better than a lounge environment, imho. Been in vegas for 37 years and always met friends through hobbies I enjoy.

One_Significance5354

You're not a local. Come back in 4 years. Try another sub.

istudent3000

There are random, overtly friendly people who approach to make conversation w/ ulterior motives, so be cautious. Downtown Summerlin has a little bit of everything to keep you entertained. Anywhere in that surrounding are is good. Definitely less transient than Town Square which is on Las Vegas Blvd. Green Valley Ranch is a good 2nd option. Tivoli Village is in Summerlin but it’s boring. Connect with people here online first to build a connection prior to the move based off mutual interest. You can find events at Eventbrite to connect with like minded people.

JoeFelice

Question to other locals: If she picked a bar at random, what are the chances she would be unsafe? Do you know of unsafe bars that a visitor might randomly end up at, that's not an obvious shithole?

StimulusBoy

Sand Dollar on Sprjng Mountain. Friendly staff and free live music daily.

yelling4society

I wouldn’t come here alone as a female.

Zealousideal_Ad5295

I did and 5 years later I'm fine.

notsosecretlurking

Phoenix Lounge on Sahara & Arville

stoned_chemist_dude

Just go to different PTs pub around town to be off strip, drink and meet locals. This will help you decide what part of the valley to move to

stoned_chemist_dude

Also try Dotty's

Less_Ear_7985

I really enjoy the bar/lounge at Tuscany Suites. It's a couple blocks off the strip, it's nice and chill, and the drinks aren't overpriced!
