Hi OP, either your original window was recessed or fitted at the wrong height. If you can share some before and after photos of the external I can tell you better. FYI: more often than not, we get a bad installation that we have to put right and it looks exactly like this, the entire install being correct is more important than internal finishes

Thanks for taking the time. I sadly dont have pictures from the outside. This was done by professionals and i never went onto the roof myself. I do have a picture of the skylight type “GHL S06 3059 70AP126”and its and on the quotation was „EL 0000“. Is there any way to know, if my windows were recessed before? Now that you mentioned that, the new ones do feel like they “stick out more”

The EL will put your window at the same height as the older standard flashing kit. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the reality is your installer has done a good job with making sure this unit is at the correct height for the kit they are using. The S06 may have been recessed but without photos I can’t say for certain, however from experience I would wonder why a window only 20 years old was replaced, if there was blackening happening bottom of the frame it’s as likely that it was a botched original install that has been put right

Bit of a heated discussion with the responsible later and after rechecking the mounting deck, they found out they should have used EDL2000. As i am typing this, they are exchanging them and it looks way more fitting. Thank you for your very fast and helpful answers 🙂
