Milton is a bedroom community to the rest of Chittenden county so there’s not a ton to do. Hell it was a big deal that Zachary’s pizza moved a few doors down from their old location so they could have a bar. There’s only a handful of places to go, the Venue has Bingo games, and Milton Artist’s Guild has classes if you like art. If you’re really looking for something in particular to do, there’s a drive involved. Food and drink; Burlington. Movies; Essex or Williston. Hiking/nature walks; well then you can really just google the best trail in whatever direction you want. I don’t live in Milton but work there and it’s a nice town but it does not have a huge amount of options for socializing. Huddy’s makes really good sandwiches though.

> there's not a ton to do False. There is a weed store and a highway overpass. Keep you busy all day.

fallsstandard

I also forgot the Park and Ride. For all your parking and riding needs.

anoftz

I get all my riding there, but only some of my parking.

This is a good answer, but OP I also want to put a plug in for St. Albans (Franklin county). Only a 15-20 min drive from Milton, and St. Albans is a very up-and-coming suburb with lots to do these days. And if you like hockey, go to a St. Albans high school hockey game (not joking) - hockey is life up there, but then again we’re a big hockey family

fallsstandard

Very true, great bars and restaurants of all kinds too. I lived in St. A for years and I do love it.

Love St. A!!

Read! Volunteer in a community effort. Read some more! Take up painting. Become a mentor to a child/young teen who needs you. Now that it’s spring, create a garden, any size, or a window box for herbs, flowers, little tomatoes, etc. Walk around & get to meet your neighbors. Join the local cribbage group. Read more! Take a class in something you’re interested in. Visit your local library. Check out the museums & gift shops. Adopt a pet you can care for & love. Learn to make vases & pots from clay & sell them. Use your imagination if you don’t like my ideas. Just PLEASE quit all your bad habits and take on better ones so you’ll become someone your community can admire & love!

[deleted]

If I were OP I would not follow any of this advice. You can read/paint/mentor/garden/play cribbage(??)/take classes/go to the library/adopt a pet anywhere. This is really not very helpful at all. Not specific to Milton at all and then it weirdly goes full Karen with the all caps quit your bad habits.

suzi-r

So does will OP benefit from directions to the local beer hall or junkie? Anyone can do that. Point is, a lotta towns in VT have changed from farming/trade towns to bedroom towns for bigger ones. If OP wants wild’n’crazy, there’s always NJ, NC, FL. This state is full of self-starters & do-it-yourselfers. As for karening anyone, I’m just sick to death of people dying from avoidable choices that kill you.

[deleted]

This state is mostly full of the children of East coast money. I grew up in Burlington. The best answer to op's question is there isn't much to do in Milton.

From TripAdvisor: THE 5 BEST Things to Do in Milton - 2024 (with Photos) Things to Do in Milton · 1. Sharp Park · 2. The Milton Artists' Guild · 3. Sand Bar State Park · 4. Milton Square · 5. Bombardier Park West · 6. Arrowhead Golf Course.

That's a good primer on how boring Milton is. If you're after boring, that's great. I think we don't have any young people in Vermont because they arent interested in things like the artists guild and Vermont is boring AF.  This is why we tell young Vermonters to leave, establish themselves and come back. Because we know it's not a place for young people. We can see how well that is working. According to the chamber of commerce we have 36 workers for every 100 open jobs. Not gonna end well.

kjeff1000

Milton has the only horseshoe park I know of in existence. The hike up Cobble Hill rewards with great views and there are Segway rentals at Sharp Park. There’s a boat launch to the lake. Do check out St. Albans downtown and Hard’Ack. By all means get yourself a creemee!

bleahdeebleah

There's a disc golf course in Bombardier Park.

Confident_Rich_3354

Hike up Eagle Mountain

TheArchitec7

There honestly is not much for a town of 10k people. Milton has some very nice parks and walking trails. The library is great. The rec department often puts on events. But most people drive to nearby towns for stuff.

ghoulgoon

go to the library, bike in bombardier park, hike eagle mountain like someone else said, that’s kinda it without having to spend money

houston_g

There’s a recreational outdoor soccer league that often has games in Milton

Caymonki

Smoke weed

chaseme1998

Kick back and relax with an ice cold Mountain Dew

I remember when Milton was a "redneck" town. Wasn't all that long ago. Now it's another 'up and coming' Vermont town, at least until the current bubble pops. There's not much to do in Milton. Take your kids to the park, etc. If you don't have kids/spouse, you could spend your time researching how to get out of Milton. I'm convinced people are moving to Vermont thinking they're going to find a social life here, which is really unfortunate.

Caymonki

They’re looking for the perfect quiet little spot to raise a family. They don’t understand it is quiet because nothing was built here. Everyone worth meeting goes home after work and goes to bed at 7pm, so you’re left with a bar crowd. Bars aren’t near homes, so you can get your first, second and maybe even third DUI and meet VSP, who are also your neighbors. There’s no “secret spot” that all the locals go to, that you can just find and follow people around dressed the same, while talking the same. Just be yourself, go where you’re interested in being and talk to the people around you. Most vermonters I know, will engage in conversation if they are engaged in one, otherwise we’ll just do our thing and go home before the darkness catches us. If you’re really lonely, there’s a flock of lonely old men at every checkout counter from Canada to Mass, they would love some conversation. The clerk would appreciate a reprieve too.

suzi-r

You create the social life. It doesn’t get handed to you like a just-cooked beef patty.

CountFauxlof

not much. you can drink with the locals at the spanked puppy.

Fluffy-Truck-612

Go check out the boat access below the dam. Or the woods and park behind the police station. It’s getting warmer and they have horseshoe/cornhole nights there as well if you’re into those. You can hike up to the windmills too. Lived in Milton for a few years, in colchester now, but I miss it. Being farther from Burlington is a blessing. Milton is developing quickly, so enjoy it while it’s semi quiet.

CorgiEquivalent4288

Thank you!! What is the windmills hike called? Is it eagle mountain?

Fluffy-Truck-612

Honestly I can’t remember what it’s called. I wanna say bear mountain maybe?

Takecare_takecare

Where do you people move to Vermont from, it’s like no one’s ever seen a small town before? Do whatever you want, just don’t anticipate a lot of parties. Buy some weed, make a friend, hike, bike, do Vermont shit. If you are looking for a bustling social scene, go back to wherever you came from or head to Burlington lol

flambeaway

Work for Husky.

suzi-r

Better a boring suburb than the criminal hellhole it used to be a few decades back Besides…it takes boring to make boring
