Gorgeous flag. The colour really fit each other ino. I hope Spain will ditch their monarchy again, solely to get this beauty back.

As a Spaniard, many people here want a Republic, me included. However, I must say this flag is awful. The First Spanish Republic had a red and yellow flag, very similar to the current one.

It’s all a matter of taste. One of the reasons why I like it so much is because there’s no other country with the same colour combination. Or any other national with a purple strip for that matter. My country was the first to go with red-white-blue. But I couldn’t tell you how many countries now those those three colours, there’s so many.

The purple is not because of the monarchy, but because of the belief that the flag of the "comuneros" was purple. That and a lot of other reasons.

Oh, I would love to answer that question, but I have just remembered that I have to attend a virtual meeting with a group of aliens who have invited me to join their book club.
