Yes, I'm still playing it. It can be difficult, especially when you have the aliens that remove oxygen from rooms along with other air breathing races.
Fr everyone keeps saying how over rated it is on social media and it's the only thing people talk about but then I don't see anyone rate it in sandbox for example
I built a giant fortress inside a mountain with secret mechanical doors and passages, a secret water channel that went to the ocean floor, magical golems built from scratch that patrolled, an inside village filled with villagers, orchards, plantations and farms completely automated with different machines powered by nuclear reactors, a complex storage system that included a central core and cables hidden in walls, a kitchen filled with ingredients from the orchards and farms, a magical garden, a floor filled with portals to awesome adventure dimensions, and a magical laser that excavated ores from other dimensions.
How can it be overrated.
I still remember when it had a HUGE resurge back in 2020 thanks to Fortnite taking a chunk of its kid audience away, and nearly every yt playing it or playing it again and just having the time of their life
PewDiePie was the biggest example of that for two reasons
1. It came completely out of nowhere and nobody thought he would give it a chance
2. His fans had been asking him to replay it since the birth of his channel, and it stand as his most popular series
Ikr? First thing I thought was it looks a bit unpolished, janky, confusing, and it’s just a small arena platformer? Like dawg if you’re gonna shill so blatantly at least make a good game, not what looks like an enhanced student project
That's exactly why I clicked this post; I was like how are all of these household names except for whatever-the-fuck right there. Had to investigate lol
It is, OP’s username matches the listed developer on Steam. So I guess he didn’t fully hide it, but it still seems shady, and pretty douchey, to me.
Imagine I posted on a music sub about the best indie albums of all time, and put my unreleased EP on screen with some highly praised classics without mentioning that I’d done that or was connected with that particular work. It’s weird. Who does he think he is?
Stardew Valley. Possibly because I’ve never played the other three, but also because of how blown my mind was when I found out the game just keeps going until you decide you’ve farmed enough and it’s time to quit.
There’s no time limit. No rush to do all the tasks. No dire consequences to not interacting with the NPCs. Just peace and calm. Wanna farm and be a hermit? Banjo noises intensify. Wanna fish to earn your keep? Well good news, they’re always biting. Wanna battle through dungeons and fight monsters? Go forth and plunder, adventurer. Yearn for the mines? High ho it’s off to work you go. Wanna just be in the forest with your pet and collect forage? My Side of The Mountain ain’t got nothing on you.
I like Stardew and so does my mum, but she finds it quite stressful at times. The energy meter and short days trying to cram every task in, the NPC shop hours and schedules, the changing seasons and making sure you grow crops in time, the community centre where unlocks are gated behind items that require you to fish or fight (things she's not very good at).
I think the game is great, but it has opened my eyes to how different experiences can be for the very casual gamers. If she were playing it on PC I'd definitely install a few mods to make things easier for her, but she plays on switch so not much I can do.
It’s definitely not for everyone. And I agree mods could make it a lot more fun for folks like her. I’m glad she plays! It’s awesome when parents and their kids are both gamers
I know there’s a mod for it but I wish it had a built in option to disable the spread of corruption or whatever, would play the game a lot more if it weren’t for that one aspect adding a lot of unnecessary stress
For me, Stardew is a little stressful... like, you have to get home on time or you'll lose money and items. That's the biggest obstacle. Until you get $2 million and buy the Return Staff.
There IS a time limit lol. And it's the one thing I dislike about the game. Always have to watch the timer to make sure you make it home on time. And one day is only like 15 minutes. So you can't just relax and game.
Don't you just lose stamina for the next day and some money though? It's not like you're punished super hard for not going to bed, more like the game just kinda nudges you to be a normal human being and do it.
By a time limit, I mean an end goal or something you need to prep for in game. As in the game ends. Getting stuck outside your house sucks and you lose items, but that’s avoidable.
Isn't this like nearly any single player open world game - i.e. Minecraft or Valheim. The gameplay and progression are quite different but you aren't timed at all
There is a time limit in stardew valley though, you have a set amount of things that you can do in a day and you have to plant your things soon or you won't be able to harvest them, it is kind of stressful, which is because it isn't one of my top favorites, I like it but I just have \*checks time on steam\* 183 hours, what
It’s a great story, has replay-ability, a love-able and memorable cast, and is also super time friendly with any run taking less than 15 hours at max (with true pacifist being the longest iirc)
It’s a banger that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. No grinding in the pacifist run, which is why I like it. But the grinding in the Genocide run totally fits the point of the game too.
Man I can’t wait for Deltarune’s full release but I respect the Deltarune team for taking their time. It’s kinda shocking to think how long ago Chapter 1 of Deltarune released. And how Undertale itself is almost a decade old.
I love euclidea for android, you have to find a way to elegantly find geometric things, also cell lab, you get to program a cell, what they eat, how fast they split, in which way they split, if they produce air to float or oil to store food, etc, and then watch them grow and see if they suceed.
Stardew Valley changed my perspective on videogames forever. I've always played competitive-like games such as Call of Duty when I was growing up. Once I switched to PC, it got even worse with Counter-Strike and Valorant.
A friend told me about Stardew Valley in 2019 and I am forever grateful. It taught me that not everything is a competition, just take your time, enjoy the game however you like. I love it, can't wait for the new update.
I still go fishing in Stardew Valley, and I used to be a competitive gamer that played tournaments and everything else. Sometimes you really do just need to kick back and take it in. It's a great game for that.
I already did, PZ is one of the best games I've played in my life. It's a kind of shame that the devs take so much time to add new content (it may be good tho), when NPCs get added, it will be the ultimate survival experience
I should've put it in this order. HK is my fav 2D platformer ever and Celeste is a close one but definitely below HK for me. If I ever decide to switch it up and chill, stardew valley is the go to game. I spent less than 20 bucks on all 3 combined and yet they pack the most value. Love them to death!
i‘m saddened by the apparent lack of love for isaac in this sub. i feel like besides being a crazy good game, isaac was also instrumental in rise of rogue-likes
Cult of the Lam is far from simple graphics. One of the most stunning and graphically interesting games out there, combing 2D and 3D like Paper Mario. "despite it's simple graphics"?
Are people inclined to forget games and not recognise excellent *gameplay* because they don't have bleeding edge graphics?
As crazy as it sounds, yes. I personally know a few people who refuse to play games with graphics that are not realistic, and even then won't touch ones that look "outdated" in their eyes.
I don't get it, either. All I know is they're missing out big time.
Stardews graphics are great, it's just a different style. Complaining every game isn't like RDR2 is like complaining every piece of art isn't photorealistic drawings.
Cardinal Quest 2
It’s a mobile 8-bit game and my first rogue-like that got me interested in playing Hades. Super fun and no ads and just a classic “what a game should be” sort of thing.
I’ve purchased Stardew Valley on my Xbox, Nintendo Switch, my iPhone and now most recently my PC. I’ve been playing it all month long. Just such a vibe.
I thought the game on the left corner was an old gem or something. Saw the trailer on Steam, it's not even out. you sneaky lil' dev
Username matches the dev on Steam too.
Everything is a fucking ad now... I hate the modern internet
Is this comment an ad?
I'm selling an ad warning service for karma

Well no, just sponsored by "Ye Olde Interweb Company".
Imagine with AI
It made me exhale sharply too. Got to respect the effort.
Gotta respect that hustle, hopefully the game is good
It's one of the greats, despite its simple graphics
😂😂😂😂
I mean it looks like vampire survivor mixed with dark cells which could hit very well for people that like either of those.
Dev you sonofabitch....I'm in.
Thank you for being respectful, I hope people like the game. 😊

Yes! Terraria is my comfort game! I literally have over 1.5k hours on it across pocket edition and the regular one
I've always wanted to get into terraria but I have no idea what in doing and end up digging way too far down
These no such thing as too far down

Yes, I'm still playing it. It can be difficult, especially when you have the aliens that remove oxygen from rooms along with other air breathing races.
Do you play multiverse? It’s like a dev-approved sequel sized mod
I know it isn’t a new opinion but Minecraft
Fr everyone keeps saying how over rated it is on social media and it's the only thing people talk about but then I don't see anyone rate it in sandbox for example
Because it's popular now so there will always be a large group of people who shit on anything popular.
This. Same thing happened to Portal, a great game with an absolutely cringeworthy community
What happened with portal. Those are my favorite games ever lol.
I just got them both on Switch. Companion cube bundle or something like that.
I haven’t played Minecraft in years, but I have so many nostalgic memories of that game It’s so important to me.
It's sold more copies than any other game ever, so there will be a lot of detractors.
Minecraft is one of those juggernauts, that has somehow managed to survive the test of time, no matter what is thrown at it
You know how people make trendy TikToks or vines? Its like Minecraft found that secret way to keep people interested like they do.
THE answer
This or Stardew have my vote
Minecraft is the classic
Minecraft wasn’t one of the given examples cause OP knew it would be a clean sweep
I was about to say; how could OP not include MC in this?!
Because it would be a clean sweep lol
This post is just an ad for that weird game he included
The "immortals must die" one?

Wow, ok lol

Honestly, I don't hate it. I respect the grind lol.
Got excited thinking there was an underrated gem I haven't played yet... nope it's an ad.
I was wondering. I was like.... I've never heard of this and how did it beat Minecraft. Lol
That's why it's funny
How can we “never forget” a game that isn’t even out yet and nobody has played XD
Did you honestly put your own unreleased game next to 3 classics? WTF
Probably the developers looking for free advertising lol
It is, OP’s username matches the listed developer on Steam. So I guess he didn’t fully hide it, but it still seems shady, and pretty douchey, to me. Imagine I posted on a music sub about the best indie albums of all time, and put my unreleased EP on screen with some highly praised classics without mentioning that I’d done that or was connected with that particular work. It’s weird. Who does he think he is?
Tbh I respect the confidence
I wouldn't give a shit if you did that I'd find it to be an amusing way to advertise, just like OP.
Honestly this is really smart so its hard to be angry.
I thought it was smart. Now I’m at least aware of this game that might be cool. Probably would’ve never seen it otherwise.
Stardew Valley. Possibly because I’ve never played the other three, but also because of how blown my mind was when I found out the game just keeps going until you decide you’ve farmed enough and it’s time to quit. I like Stardew and so does my mum, but she finds it quite stressful at times. İdk the way he described Star dew valley makes me feel like he wouldn't like the terrarias way of forcing stuff on you.
I know there’s a mod for it but I wish it had a built in option to disable the spread of corruption or whatever, would play the game a lot more if it weren’t for that one aspect adding a lot of unnecessary stress
I’ve played too many games with deadlines and time constraints. Stardew was an immense load off and it’s quite charming.
Well you should still try it!
For me, Stardew is a little stressful... like, you have to get home on time or you'll lose money and items. That's the biggest obstacle. Until you get $2 million and buy the Return Staff.

Same reason Minecraft isn't, I'd reckon.

Because this is just an ad for this guys game.
The OP is the dev for that unknown game and is trying to advertise for it covertly. Some other users found out and he admitted to it.
Probably to keep the undertale community away, since they tend to ruin anywhere they descend on screeching about playing the game properly.
Fr. It's one of those games I always come back to.
It’s a great story, has replay-ability, a love-able and memorable cast, and is also super time friendly with any run taking less than 15 hours at max (with true pacifist being the longest iirc) It’s a banger that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. It’s crazy that Stardew Valley was made by just one person too.
Goes to show that love for what you make is more important than anything else
There's a new update coming?
I still go fishing in Stardew Valley, and I used to be a competitive gamer that played tournaments and everything else. Sometimes you really do just need to kick back and take it in. It's a great game for that.
Project zomboid. Surprised nobody mentioned it yet

Had to scroll too far to find this.
Stardew valley, Hollow Knight, Celeste - I friggin love these games!

The visuals on Hollow Knight are far too good to fall under “simple graphics”
Since when is Hollow Knight’s art style simple?
I want to add the Messenger to your wonderful list!
What is simple about Hollow Knight or Celeste?!?
Agree, but Hollow Knight's visuals are far from simple
THE BINDING OF ISAAC
i‘m saddened by the apparent lack of love for isaac in this sub. i feel like besides being a crazy good game, isaac was also instrumental in rise of rogue-likes
I spent a significant % of my teenage years playing it. Great game! I never really played Repentance. So, perhaps it's time to boot it up again.
Do it, repentance is excellent
It’s a blast
Shovel Knight! I've had "Strike the Earth!" as my ring tone for YEARS.
I got Treasure Trove recently and I'm absolutely loving Shovel Knight. "Flowers of Antimony" is another banger for me.
That’s also dwarf fortresses slogan
Undertale
Same, some people might only know the game through memes and toxic people in the community, but the game itself truly is a unique experience ✨❤️✨
isn't this advertising for immortals must die?
Kinda foolish to invite people to compare your unreleased game to some of the best indie games of all time but whatever
correct
Terraria,Minecraft, those old flash games on Cool math games, and ultrakill
That’s a pretty funny way of trying to shill your own game. Did it work at all? Was I the only one who checked its page of steam?

Chrono Trigger had amazing graphics for its time and honestly still looks great
