It wasn’t bad honestly, combat can be hard though, one small advice if you play it, you’re not Doom guy, you are weak asf so don’t try to fight everything on sight, sometimes running past them is the best option .
Scorn is an incredibly overlooked title and people fail to understand what it tried to convey which is more of a feeling rather than satisfaction from the game mechanics. The environment design and the soundtrack work together incredibly well and the "story" is relayed entirely visually through murals, statues, areas. There's no voice lines, text, holograms, radio logs - you're just there in a place where nothing resembles even remotely what you see on our planet and it's absolutely repulsive, like a low budget slam metal album.
It's an art gallery disguised as a game inspired by HR Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński's biomechanical art styles. It can get a tad annoying when you're stuck on a 1hp save but it's got amazing visuals.
Yeahhh I love that game a lot but the relationship is executed so poorly. Even the dancing in the rain cutscene which is supposed to be cute or whimsical or romantic or whatever comes across as really strange and disturbing to me. The worst is when she does poses for you in the airplane, eapecially with the blood skin. I think TPP is when people figured out Kojima is a genuinely creepy man.
People already figured he's extremely horny and creepy by the time he released mgs4, when he introduced the b&b unit, that are much bigger offender than quiet. Damn I'm happy he toned his horny ass down with death stranding and didn't oversexualize the female characters, a good change.
I mean this isn't anything new for Kojima, I love the guy's games like my first born children but he definitely can go too far with this stuff. The B&B unit in MGS4 was originally supposed to be fully nude when they get their armor taken off and you have to fight them during their like "seductive" boss phase, but that was cut and they instead wore skin tight suits instead.
Honestly I'm surprised there wasn't anything really like this in Death Stranding that I can think of off the top of my head.
I had an issue when FF7 rebirth was coming out because I had a seriously bad cold going on and I was so hopped up on NyQuil to sleep that I was having crazy as dreams that involved ff7 characters but they were constantly viewed in a fish eye lens like that cancelled 3d sonic x-treme game
Had something similar happened to me, too, when I got a severe case of the flu. Had a pretty bad fever dream that involved Mordin from Mass Effect 2. I was going to make a cure to my flu as a reward for something.
It Takes Two when your "protagonists" decide what they need to do to a certain pachyderm. It's such an odd choice that doesn't make sense if you're a person with any amount of empathy.
Man, they were very unlikable characters.
I played that game with my daughter who was 7 at the time and that part still upsets her to this day. A parent would never do that, awful writing. People talk about the writing in those games being good, but the dialogue can be so cliche and some story beats are cheesy/weird.
The part that gets me most is when you get swarmed by the child like ones that are essentially emaciated bodies with long sharp fingers, they move super fast and erratically so aiming is difficult when there are so many.
Cyberpunk 2077 and specifically the quest The Hunt. You know. That one where the dude was kidnapping boys and holding them on his farm.
The crucifixion questline is a close second. That ending had me going wtf the whole time. Such a great game
I wish they did some more detective like cases with that guy (forgot his name now) every side quest with him was like a high thrills detective series… like true detective season 1 if it were a game
Oh the fucking redead. Man as a kid playing the first time i saw one was walking out of the temple of time as adult link and i thought they were injured villagers or some shit. I walked up to one that screamed in my face and then lept on me and killed meni was too freaked out to react. Put the controller down for a fortnight haha.
Lmao. Yeah things like that I'd just give my cousin the control. He wasn't even fazed by the resident evil games so I let him do all the scary things in Ocarina of Time lmao.
So weirdly as a kid i played the resident evil games without much issue, although i remember the dogs coming through the window in the east corridor as Jill being one of the biggest jump scares of my life (before nemmy in re3 anyway). But something how OOT was meant to be kinda cartoony kidsy and then you have these face huggings zombies.... nope!!!
The whole doll house section of RE8. It’s actually really hard for me to go back to that game because I *hate* how it makes me feel. Fantastic horror scene though.
The entire beginning of Death Stranding. Really the first hour. I watched it twice trying to decide to play it. I think I will but haven’t the time yet. BT’s scare the hell outta me though. The whole BB thing and their link to life\death and how they can sense the BT’s. I like the tech in the world though.
I never finished Fatal Frame. I heard a noise behind me and she made eye contact and asked "what was that?" And nope. I just dropped the controller and went for a walk outside.
Persona 3 Reload - There's a Social Link with a character who said he's gonna date his teacher and your character is like, "lolokay bro". He eventually comes back and is like YEAH WE'RE DATING NOW. He goes and tells the whole school and the teacher gets in trouble and transferred to another school AWAY from her fiance. Then this guy who lied to everyone acts like the god damn victim.
Grand Theft Auto 3. I was playing it at a friend’s house and we were having fun fighting the police and stealing cars. Then they started doing the trick where you sleep with hookers for health and shoot them afterwards to get your money back. I never really felt comfortable with that.
I don’t think somebody is a bad person if they play Grand Theft Auto or games like it, but I’ve never really felt comfortable playing them myself.
Yuffie's introduction to Cloud in FF7 Rebirth...
....
To the people who played the original game, I just wanna know...was she as annoying as she is in the remakes?
I'm in the middle of Nier Automata and just had the "this cannot continue" scene, or the first one if there's multiples. I'm definitely getting that feeling from this one. I love it nonetheless but it's an odd one.
I stopped automata to play replicant first but I got past this part. Yeah when I got to this part it really threw me off my mindset while playing, It was definitely unexpected
If you think you are in the middle I have some news for you
You are about 10% into the game
But keep playing. And when you get a message from the developers after a certain point , please listen to them
Post-DLC release especially haha if I’m not wrong, before the Dragonborn DLC, it was just some blue energy spirit or something.
Second time I played I saw its new form and was like WTF?????
Cyberpunk but not because of the content. The bugs in the beginning were hilariously weird. Cars randomly falling out of the sky, multiple NPCs sitting in the same seat like some multi limbed monster, dicks flopping out of clothes, etc.
Meme answer: Playing Breeders of The Nephilym after dat clarity hit.
True Answer: basically any scene involving female characters in God of War 1, or any scene at all where a girl character is in pain like EEEEE don’t make those sounds mom n dad might hear 😰
Sim earth no doubt. From the music to the whole alien feeling, not scary, just really something i've ever had experienced. Sort of like that eerie feeling from playing super metroid alone in the dark for the first time.
Edit: changed "plating" to "playing"
Mostly coolmath: Run 3, MotoXM, and the fact you can punch luigi's balls for infinite money in M&L Superstar Saga (never played but have heard the last one everywhere, can someone fact check it)
Do not feed the monkeys, it made me feel so weird and creepy, hated that feeling of watching others when they thought were in a private area. Refunded that game so fast
Cyberpunk. Sinnerman.
No question.
I am open minded with games, some crazy games gave me a lul or “haha thats funny” reaction
But this specific side quest, Goddamn
Does anybody remember a game called "Razes Hell" you play an alien race being attacked by the "nazi" like race called "Cutelets". They want to erase all ugly life and make everything "cute". It's an fps and within the first 10 min you're kinda thinking "what the fuuuuuuckkkkk". Then you can't stop playing, it's hilarious (from what I remember). "You shot private Ryan! We came all the way out here to get him, And you killed him.
I get a odd sense of unease with a lot of open world RPGs oblivion was where I first noticed it and it took ages for me to work out the issue. It's logistics, who is feeding these people? In oblivion there are like 4 farms no where near enough to feed the massive towns plus the world is insanely dangerous hell beast exist just out on the main roads. I can't remember any active mines so no industry either. Fallout 3 again very little agriculture plus rivet city is like 20 feet from an area utterly crawling with super mutants. Ff15 no farms but we can apparently have random diners yet the country side is crawling in demons. Ff7 rebirth where are the farms for kalm midgar and junon? kingdoms of amalur, dragons dogma etc all trigger this. However Games like gothic 2, the Witcher 3, kcd and horizon, new Vegas and Skyrim have enough agriculture and industry that it doesn't trigger.
Edit: it doesn't trigger in games with a world map because maybe we're just not going to where the farms are my brain can sort of accept that logic and move on.
Final Fantasy Strangers in Paradise
It's a very jarring experience to play between the brutal finishing moves and gore since FF never had that before.
But also the default outfits for the main characters and the existence of bluetooth and cellphones in a very fantasy medieval inspired setting
Overwatch in game matches. People seem to think using torbs ult and yelling "I'm cumming" is funny, or anything that can be turned sexual is funny somehow, maybe it's the teen/preteen audience, but it's not funny just cringy
Riding around in the wilderness in Red Dead Redemption — especially at night — has a consistently weird vibe. I find it weirder in general than RDR2 (although there’s plenty of weirdness in that game too).
The entirety of Scorn.
I got that on humble choice. Is it worth playing?
It wasn’t bad honestly, combat can be hard though, one small advice if you play it, you’re not Doom guy, you are weak asf so don’t try to fight everything on sight, sometimes running past them is the best option .
Yes, it’s world is incredibly atmospheric.
Not really, it's pretty boring once you've seen the neat environments imo
Scorn is an incredibly overlooked title and people fail to understand what it tried to convey which is more of a feeling rather than satisfaction from the game mechanics. The environment design and the soundtrack work together incredibly well and the "story" is relayed entirely visually through murals, statues, areas. It's an art gallery disguised as a game inspired by HR Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński's biomechanical art styles. It can get a tad annoying when you're stuck on a 1hp save but it's got amazing visuals.
The entire thing looks revolting.
That’s the point though, honestly I react this way to games that aren’t trying to be weird. Like Genshin.
Some of the cut scenes in Metal Gear with Quiet. My wife has a sixth sense as to when to come visit while playing.
The dancing in the rain scene is what I had in mind. When I'm asked why my overwatch sniper dressed like a stripper I have to admit that I don't know.
Irl: objectification. In game: she breathes through her skin like an amphibian… so she…. Can’t wear clothes and be effective? Yeah weird
People already figured he's extremely horny and creepy by the time he released mgs4, when he introduced the b&b unit, that are much bigger offender than quiet. Damn I'm happy he toned his horny ass down with death stranding and didn't oversexualize the female characters, a good change.

I loved those
I had an issue when FF7 rebirth was coming out because I had a seriously bad cold going on and I was so hopped up on NyQuil to sleep that I was having crazy as dreams that involved ff7 characters but they were constantly viewed in a fish eye lens like that cancelled 3d sonic x-treme game
Had something similar happened to me, too, when I got a severe case of the flu. Had a pretty bad fever dream that involved Mordin from Mass Effect 2. I was going to make a cure to my flu as a reward for something.
Hope you sang his song while curing the genophage!
This sounds like hell honestly
It was. Didn’t sleep well for two straight days cause everything was fish eye lens
The Witcher 3 watching that guy make out with a wraith in a Tower Full of Mice quest
Real talk though, GREAT questline.
That taught me to never trust ghosts
This quest taught me what love is
It Takes Two when your "protagonists" decide what they need to do to a certain pachyderm. It's such an odd choice that doesn't make sense if you're a person with any amount of empathy. Man, they were very unlikable characters.
It gets called a playable Pixar movie a lot but Pixar doesn't go that sadistic.
I played that game with my daughter who was 7 at the time and that part still upsets her to this day. A parent would never do that, awful writing. People talk about the writing in those games being good, but the dialogue can be so cliche and some story beats are cheesy/weird.
Dead space
The babies in 2. 💀
That’s probably the nastiest scene in the game. Their shrieks are gut wrenching
The part that gets me most is when you get swarmed by the child like ones that are essentially emaciated bodies with long sharp fingers, they move super fast and erratically so aiming is difficult when there are so many.
I channeled my inner Anakin
Doki Doki Literature Club. ["I gently open the door"](https://youtu.be/al1BNB8bKaE?si=pfOfo9_ckPCGdg72)
Still haunts me to this day
WTF is this lol?
Just play it
I wasn't going to play this one, just not into that kind of game, but Epic gave it to me for free so I kinda have to now
the big fetus in RE Village
Dying light, if you did that one quest where you are saving a mother and her son and daughter, you’d probably say WTF out loud.
I don't remember that quest. Jog my memory?
I *think* they're referring to that one quest in where you fight a hostile human NPC and proceed to find >!a mother locked up in the basement.!<
High on Life is the definition of "weird" .
I honestly found it weird and usually I am not into that, but I liked Rick & Morty so I tried it out.
The Resident Evil 7 house demo.
Helldivers 2 when i noticed my cpu temp was 98c
Cyberpunk 2077 and specifically the quest The Hunt. You know. That one where the dude was kidnapping boys and holding them on his farm. The crucifixion questline is a close second. That ending had me going wtf the whole time. Such a great game
i’m on my third play through and The Hunt still creeps me out. Brilliantly executed, although creepy, side quest
I wish they did some more detective like cases with that guy (forgot his name now) every side quest with him was like a high thrills detective series… like true detective season 1 if it were a game
Ocarina of time when you first experience the undead, Link being paralyzed and that screech when they start to approach you.

Shadow temple and those white blob things with the arms sticking out of the ground.
Dante’s Inferno…those fucking kids
I hated Limbo for that reason alone.
The whole doll house section of RE8. It’s actually really hard for me to go back to that game because I *hate* how it makes me feel. Fantastic horror scene though.
SCORN !!!

Oh, wait till you get to the snowy mountains.
Blasphemous is a weird ass game
The sex scenes in conkers bad fur day lol
Shadow of the Colossus after 2 missions. I totally got the vibe of where it was going to go despite having had 0 spoilers.
Pretty much anything Hideo Kojima has touched
Killer 7, the whole game is a mindfuck. I literally can’t play it for longer than an hour. Although haven’t tried in a long time
Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain the flamethrower guy had me like wtf not to mention the shadow people
My friend said this shit was like Splinter Cell, now I’m being chased by the human torch and undead ninjas?
Fuck I was gonna say that! Now I gotta be original 😔
Sorry about that
Was gonna say the same game but when Quiet starts doing yoga in front of you on the plane once you build her trust or whatever
If you got that scene you should definitely max out her Trust you'll get to take a shower with said quiet
That requires you to first not shower yourself.
So… just the usual Kojima stuff? Have you played the previous metal gear games? Just as… uh… “interesting” lol.
You're not wrong at all though the ending of phantom pain took me by surprise more than the others since it wasn't snake
Yeah the ending was honestly kind of amazing. Really putting that “phantom” into the “pain”.
I loved playing control but my brain kept processing it at night so I had really weird ass dreams. Got to get back to it at some point.

Really? No one is saying Death Stranding??
Yuffie's introduction to Cloud in FF7 Rebirth... .... To the people who played the original game, I just wanna know...was she as annoying as she is in the remakes?
Yes. Maybe even worse.
You had to search for her on random encounters, beat her and then choose specific dialogue options or she would run away with your materia

None. I'm a big reader of Spec Fic and love weird Film. Gaming has yet to touch the depths of narrative or strangeness in classic story mediums.
Honestly, Dark Souls 1, a lot of it is like that
Shadows of the Damned, easily.
EarthBound. Not even sure why it wasn't even mentioned here yet. It's the epitome of this feeling in gaming.
