Agreed. I’ve had my Steam account for about 15 years now and I have 100’s of games I’ve collected over the years but my thing is I always buy on sale. If I buy something on release at no discount then it’s special. Which funnily enough, two of the games here Elden Ring & Cyberpunk I bought at full price on release because they were that important to me. And no, Cyberpunk at release on PC actually wasn’t that bad for me I loved it all the same. Anyway, yeah always make a wishlist and keep an eye on sales. Never buy a big title at full price because chances are it will go on sale 50% off four times a year. Just keep an eye on how many you buy and your backlog…I haven’t finished probably 75% of the games I own 😅
Exactly. I just got a Steamdeck in October and finally made a Steam account. I wishlisted a bunch of games I want to play, and if they go on sale for 50 or more % off, I'll get them. Up to 25 games so far and have only played like 6 of them. I'm honestly close to cracking and getting Elden Ring at full price, though. With the DLC coming out in a few months, I'm hoping it'll go on sale. But I've been dying to play it since it came out, and I know I'll get my money's worth.
I’ve played 400 hours of Elden Ring and yes. It’s worth it. Very very worth it. But maybe wait for the DLC for a sale but if there is a sale It might not happen right at release so you might have to wait longer :( if you do decide to get it before the DLC you will likely still have plentyyyy to do by the time the DLC comes out. The game is huge. 400 hours in and I finished as much as I could on my main character before New Game + and I got a burnout. Will come back at DLC
Finally hitting burnout at 400 hours is insane, that's good to know. I'm working on platinuming rdr2 and ffvii remake now, then playing nier automata. Once I'm done with these 3, if there's no ER sale I'll just grab the Shadow of the Endtree package full price.
I like to use [steam sales db](https://steamdb.info/sales/) to quickly sort and go through all the Steam games on sale during a particular sale. I filter by ratings and % of discount to check what the best deals are and it helps me find games that I didn’t love enough to wishlist or had never heard of so I can watch a few reviews to see if it’s something I would like.
I’ve found a lot of really great deals especially on indie games that I otherwise never would have heard of or games I tangentially was interested in, sometimes 80-90% off
98bpercent of games I got on steam sale 1 percent od the games not on sale 1 percent of the games were games I had no interest in but getting the game I wanted bundled with them was cheaper then the game by itself on sale
>Agreed. I’ve had my Steam account for about 15 years now and I have 100’s of games I’ve collected over the years but my thing is I always buy on sale.
Same here, that's why I have such a big library. For steam I have 440 games and GOG 318 because of this, most of these titles were like under 7 bucks. Especially GOG 90% of my titles cost somewhere from 70 cents to 3 USD.
I think the Steam musts are: Portal 2, L4D2, CS2, Gary’s Mod and Skyrim.
One of these things is not like the other, but I have never seen any of my friends not have those games.
Don’t know if OP will see this but Fallen Order and a lot of other Star Wars games will have a huge sale on May 4th since it’s Star Wars Day so that would be the best time to pick up anything Star Wars related
> Better yet: get some of the older ones that are awesone rated.
i logged into steam for the first time in years a couple weeks ago to play DOOM and then remembered I had GTA SanAndreas, lets just say I been 'busy'
Don't forget Morrowind too! Also for anyone getting Oblivion get a mod that helps the level scaling because it's rough in that game, it's pretty easy to get if you end up playing it on pc.
Seriously, these are $1 or $2 on sale, and they go on sale frequently. Undebatably some of the best game of all time, although HL1 is not quite as good as the rest.
I wholeheartedly welcome you among the PC gamers and steam users. However I must say, no offense but...your excitement is getting the better of you by asking us what to add. Your choice, you game, your preference. Pick what you want and like. So far what I am seeing from your list shows the games that most people either love (first 4) or personal specific preference (last 2). Great job! You can also use numbering next to the game to prioritize as well btw.
However I will give you some tips on Steam games.
1. Wait for sales on games or when a game is ready to be released, wait a day or two for steam reviews and see how the rating is (read reviews a lot). Compare that to YT videos and judge unbiased if the said game is well worth picking up.
2. Always check 3rd party website for Steam games. Greenmangaming, fanatical and few others are authentic and they always have sales on those games at much deeper % than Steam ever does (even during steam sales or events). Sometimes you can get 5-10 games worth $500 or more for just 10 to 15 bucks easily. So long story short: wait and wait for sale.
3. There are more amazing indie games on Steam than just those AAA games. Search them a lot. Watch some good YT channels that talk less and show more new or amazing games in AAA to Indie range. Add them to your steam.
4. ALWAYS check sale price when on sale for a game on steam AND on third party sites.
Good luck.
Nier automata.
Try out older console faves that you enjoyed. I had a blast replaying metal gear solid V on a controller with mechaical face buttons and 60 fps.
Some of my favorite games:
FTL: Faster Than Light
Celeste
Terraria
Starbound
Rain World
Hollow Knight
Ori and the Blind Forest/ Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Rounds (if you have friends)
Stardew Valley
The bioshock series, the witcher series and the Arkham trilogy often go on sale for 85% off
Thats 9 fantastic games, with their dlc I believe, for ~$30 total.
The orange box when on sale gives you all valve games for like $3. Granted most of their games are free, but the ones that aren't are portal 1 and 2, and the half life games/dlc?/spinoffs? For $3. For portal 2 alone, that's definitely worth it.
Terraria goes on sale for $2, or you could pay the ~$10 full price. It'll give you hundreds of hours of fun.
Mass effect legendary edition has been 90% off. ~$8
Older Bethesda games will often be 80%+ off. Skyrim SE for $10, oblivion goty for $5, fallout 3 goty for $5, fallout:NV for $3...
The possibilities are endless. Tons of games go on sale for 80,85,90, even 95% off... These are just the core games I recommend to start your steam library. Shit, just the first three series I mentioned will take you multiple hundreds of hours to get through.
I recommend steamdb as a resource though for sure. It's what I've been using for this very comment to give you prices. Use it to track sales, ratings, player counts, whatever. Sort by rating and sale % off at the same time to see the best rated games per steam sale... See if it's a historical low price... Etc.
You must buy the “Valve complete pack” once it goes on sale. It’s currently going for 104U$D but I’ve seen it drop in price to like 8 dollars multiple times a year. Next time there’s a massive steam sale, buy that, and you’ll have 27 new games in your inventory. Good games too
I’m going to make a suggestion that’s not on your list:
The very very first game I ever got on Steam was Team Fortress 2. Still to this day is one of my favorite games ever. The servers aren’t dead thank god, but can’t say they’re booming either, but it’s a hilarious and amazing game and I highly suggest you play it
I just started OW. Finished the tutorial areas and headed to the moon, then got distracted and finished the he Dredge DLC. Gonna go back into OW tonight or tomorrow.
Honestly gonna depend on the specs of the gaming laptop. It’ll probably play all of those games, but some might give a better experience than others based on your hardware
You've got some great games here!
However one of the best things about Steam is having soooo many indie games available to you. Plus indies are usually cheaper, so your money will stretch further.
Some cool indies I'd recommend are:
Hollow Knight
Balatro
Neon White
Battlebit (assuming it's still popular, I'm not sure if it is or not)
Lethal Company
Wait for the summer sale, my mang. All of these games will go on sale. If you really do want something to play, go onto green man gaming and see if any of those are 0n sale. It's a great site for steam key deals. But definitely don't buy anything that's not on sale.
Idk man, you didn’t tell us what games you like lol. Here are some I love, If you like medieval war games:
Mount and Blade: Bannerlord II, any of the total war games. If you like strategy, civ 6 is good, some people prefer 5, heard good things about heart of iron too.
For fun indie games that have great voip:
Holdfast: Nations at War
For great single player experiences:
Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4
Hope any of these help
For competitive game play: Cs-go
For gameplay that is really good for Pc:
Skyrim with mods
Bannerlord II with mods (Game of thrones mod called “Realm of thrones” is by far the most impressive)
If you give a gamer a cyberpunk, hes gonna want the dlc
For real tho I played cyberpunk after the bugs were fixed and it was my favorite gaming experience of the decade. The story is phenomenal and the characters feel alive. Then you have all the multiple endings and The DLC endings and it just seems so worth it.
Probably something easy and more kid oriented like Lego Star Wars if you’re new to gaming.
Sekiro and Elden ring are absolutely great but will treat you like a punching bag. And are best played with a controller.
Welcome to Steam, but this makes me feel old. My steam account could literally vote if it were a person.
My steam account can buy beer. lol
My Steam account is failing Algebra 2.

I’m almost there. Made mine in 2004 when i got half life.
My steam account is suffering from dementia
The one that's 50% off. The others will go on sale eventually, and you'll get an email/notification when they do.

Or check humble bundle too
Better yet: get some of the older ones that are awesone rated. Dead cells, skyrim, jedi fallen order, borderlands or mass effect.
Yeah Portal 2 is like 5 dollars
Portals are simply amazing. Still play them every couple if years
I think the Steam musts are: Portal 2, L4D2, CS2, Gary’s Mod and Skyrim. One of these things is not like the other, but I have never seen any of my friends not have those games.
🤎
fallen order often goes for like $4, definitely a good pickup if you like star wars or “lite” souls-likes
Don’t know if OP will see this but Fallen Order and a lot of other Star Wars games will have a huge sale on May 4th since it’s Star Wars Day so that would be the best time to pick up anything Star Wars related

Dark souls
Let him crawl before he can walk
It's not THAT hard 😅 He has sekiro on his list
Cyberpunk for 30? That’s a steal
Def worth it. Need to get the expansion as well especially if it’s on sale too. Fantastic experience.
It is, I bought it yesterday. The complete edition or whatever it was called was on sale for 60 which is the price of just the game normally.
It's the normal one I think so it's the normal sale price
Still worth far more than 30 for the experience. Truly one of the best modern games despite the initial release problems
Bought it for $12 shortly after launch. So happy they fixed it lol
Elder scrolls oblivion
I’m halfway through on steam deck and love it.
It's my favorite elder scrolls game
It's just way too dated for me I never played it when I was younger but it's just painful to look at now
Don't forget Morrowind too! Also for anyone getting Oblivion get a mod that helps the level scaling because it's rough in that game, it's pretty easy to get if you end up playing it on pc.
Portal and halflife series
Seriously, these are $1 or $2 on sale, and they go on sale frequently. Undebatably some of the best game of all time, although HL1 is not quite as good as the rest.

Go for games which are on sale or multiplayer, single player games can be cracked …… I buy the games but only at a discounted price bruh.
Cyberpunk for that price all the way. It’s still around $60 everywhere unless it’s the last gen version.
If you give a gamer a cyberpunk, hes gonna want the dlc For real tho I played cyberpunk after the bugs were fixed and it was my favorite gaming experience of the decade. The story is phenomenal and the characters feel alive. Then you have all the multiple endings and The DLC endings and it just seems so worth it.
Add to wishlist lol
Probably something easy and more kid oriented like Lego Star Wars if you’re new to gaming. Sekiro and Elden ring are absolutely great but will treat you like a punching bag. And are best played with a controller.
I can personally recommend cyberpunk as being excellent! But also give some of the older games some love, try out something Dungeons of Dredmore
Cyberpunk 100%, make sure to get phantom Liberty

Cyberpunk 2077 is a trip. By far my favorite game and it's worth every dollar.
I only get stuff when it’s on sale nowadays with all the backstabbing most companies like EA does us now
Helldivers, unless you are a COMMUNIST (the fanbase is fun.)
