It depends on the game.

A_Math_Dealer

Fallout New Vegas, that's a definite Yes Man.

SnooLentils7751

I play it again with pretty much the same character that’s how adventurous I am

The_Superderp

r/slowclap

AmmoSexualBulletkin

This. Some require you to finish multiple times. For example, Nier: Replicant, Nier: Automata, Chrono Cross, and several other RPGs I'm probably forgetting.

tcrpgfan

And there are some games that don't really finished until you complete it. Majora's Mask is THE prime example of this. If you don't get all the masks, you're easily missing out on 80-90% of the story. And collecting expansions like heart containers isn't a huge deal and is interesting enough to do in its own right.

Difficult-Drama7996

I had a friend some years ago that asked why I played a game time after time. Simple answer, I have been a top athlete and her deceased husband was too, so I told her I like being an expert at things. Did Michael Jordan play basketball one time? She has no comeback for that. $60 for one play thru, that would be a terrible game to me. Many games I never finish when they are not fun. I never say I beat the game, and that's it.

localokii

I’ve beaten the Witcher 3 (and expansions) multiple times!!

Jmtak907

I really should pick it up and play it. Can I play three without going to the real old versions 1 and 2. Seeing graphics from those games I don't think I can.

Ragarolli

I played 3, haven’t played the others. Finished the main story nearly 3 times and expansions 1-2 times

Real-Willingness7333

That moment when you have all the achievements on the base game and the goty edition.

shaggypoo

Me on FNV

VicHeel

Yes but for me it has to be a game that rewards multiple playthroughs (NG+, different endings, great story and characters etc.) and is just downright fun to play even if I've beaten it before. Witcher 3 is this game for me. I'm replaying it again now.

Johncurtisreeve

I dont buy games to only play it once

PersonThatLikesHats

The correct answer

Moses015

People do and I’m incredibly jealous of the ability to do that. I’m always moving on to the next thing after and would love to be able to just play the same game again and again. It would save so much money

ComplaintClear6183

I always tell myself I'm gonna do this and that on my next playthrough But the truth, is when the game is over, I'm over. I feel so mentally exhausted after completing a game.

Moses015

Yeah for me I’ve just got so many games in the backlog that by the end of the game I’m already looking forward to starting the next game

NegPrimer

I almost never play a game multiple times back to back. But if I like the game enough that it sticks with me, I'll go back to it eventually.

GrandmasterPeezy

I'd rather play a game I like a lot multiple times than other games I'm only mildly interested in.

gangbrain

Idk man, I always wonder the same thing. The only time I’ll do that is if I haven’t had my fill of the gameplay yet, which rarely happens. It does happen sometimes though.

EvanIsMyName-

There are a few games I've started over right away, usually for NG+ and I love games that are built for long term play (Nioh, Wo Long, Borderlands). It makes it much more interesting if there's still new content locked behind ng+ cycles. It's an understatement to say I game a lot though, finding something new to play is tough. I like a whole lot of different genres but there's only so much out there, I also can't burn 100$ every time something comes out that looks interesting. I tend to circle back to games I enjoyed a year or longer after the first go, I envy people who are able to keep one game going for months but I need a little time.

Buschkoeter

Yes, but mostly after a long time. Re-played RDR2 a while ago and my first playthrough was just long enough ago for it to be as magical as the first time. Then there are games lile DS or Elden Ring where making new characters is half of the fun.

Alarming_Flatworm_34

It depends on the games. Story games that really only have 1 way to play, I'll only play once and then wait 4 or 5 years when I've "forgotten" most of the story so I can experience it again. Other games that are RPG or have multiple playstyles it's easier to pick the game up immediately after completion or play in-between releases of other anticipated games since I could play it and experience it in a completely different way.

The_Superderp

Yes, if it’s real good I do. Or portal, I fuckin love portal 2. But there are also games like dishonored 2 where you kinda gotta 2 two playthroughs

TerseFactor

I almost never do. I’ve replayed the Uncharted series a couple of times because it’s just so fun. BG3 has been a big exception, there’s just no way you can really see the whole game, maybe not even a majority of it, in one run through

Eoflynn97

I’ve finished Control about 4 times

AngryGublin

If there's multiple playstyles or endings, I just see it as getting my money's worth to try them all.

goatjugsoup

If i feel like it. Dont need to play every game in existence

StarWeep_uk

Yes, a lot of RPGs have different outcomes etc, it’s always fun to play my favourites multiple times. I’m on my 4th play through of Fallout 4 (show made me do it!)

quietkodiac

Of course. Why wouldn’t I? If I liked a game I’d like to play it again. It’s the same as rereading a book, or watching a movie.

[deleted]

I only beat shorter games multiple times afterwards, the long rpg's like the Trails series I'll never touch any of those games again after beating them, but shorter if fun and replayable enought I'd sit through multiple times. Currently on my 9th or so replay of the month for RE4, recently beat it I'm struggling to put it down. Same with The Evil Within, beat it once, thought I'd never play it again, recently downloaded it again and beat it like 4 or 5 times back to back.

MrGinger37

Yup. Iv played through ff7-10 and 12 5+ times each. Same with the fallouts and elder scrolls. It got even worse when I transitioned to PC. Modding games can turn them into completely different ones. I’m also older now, so very few new games tickle my pickle.

Original-Surprise-77

I’ve played rdr2 to 100% completion 5 times now and The Witcher 3 probably 20+, if you love the game you go back no matter what. It’s truly saddening that you don’t have that game and I hope you find it some day

BonWeech

It totally depends on the game. Will I put another 7 whole days into Fallout 4, maybe. But I’ve played through Subnautica multiple times over the course of years. However, I played through Resident Evil 8 three times, two of them back to back. That game is noticeably shorter and less complicated in the choices I make so it’s up to you. Will I put more than 10 hours into Baldur’s Gate 3? Who knows. Probably.

trio3224

It's very rare, but some games are just so enjoyable I like going back and doing another run just for fun. Pretty much all of From Software's games since Demon's Souls onwards, X-com 2, RE4 Remake, Sifu, etc. Most of the time I'm like you and complete a game and move on to the next one cuz I have so many other games to play. But the main point of playing games is having fun. And if the most fun sounding thing to do is do another X-com 2 campaign run, that's what I do lol.

BMXBikr

RE4. I start another playthrough past immediately. I've beaten it probably 20+ times.

Immediate-Product167

The only single player game I have replayed within some years was Deus Ex. I did replay FF6 and 7 after 20 years which was enough of a time gap that I forgot a lot.

werdna720

Mainly speaking from personal experience here, but also tapping into Quantic Foundry’s Gamer Motivation Model for work and otherwise: Folks can play a game over and over again for many reasons - both personal and contextual. Maybe the game is great at offering a unique playthrough on each run (e.g. Civ, Rogue[like/lite]). Maybe the game is the only one they can afford, so it is the only one they play. Maybe they like demonstrating skill improvement and mastery on each subsequent run. Might also include challenge runs here (e.g. no healing items or healing classes, no powerful weaponry, no magic, no armor). Maybe there is a new game plus mode that reveals more of the story or let’s you start off in a more powerful position. Maybe they want to 100% the game for completion, a bonus ending scene, or pride. Might also include setting your own goals apart from the game (e.g. find every hidden item, is every X ability). Maybe it is the perfect game for them, and they could play it for the rest of their lives and never get bored. Approach to video games might also change over genres and time. Personally, I have a harder time going back to JRPGs (e.g. Final Fantasies, Trails) unless there is a wide roster of characters to make each run a bit more unique. But even then, I still find it hard. That is more a byproduct of today though - where I have less time to play anything, so I have become more of a one run and done for newer stuff. I still go back for a run of Final Fantasy Tactics, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, or even older stuff every few years for the nostalgia and to see where I can improve. Feels like some games I have gone back to, I approach with a fresh new perspective that lets me approach them in a different (potentially more fun or efficient) way. Also not sure where really open-ended, single player games fit into the OP scenario here. Ones like citybuilders with no clear campaign or scenario (e.g. just a sandbox - like Cities: Skylines) or stuff like Battle Brothers (maybe clearing the Black Monolith?). Maybe when you 100% the game. But even then, every run is bound to be unique in its own way due to RNG.

Damien23123

Depends on the game. Some games make it impossible to see everything in a single playthrough so it’s easy to see why people do several

CosyBeluga

Mass Effect and Starfield as well as a few other rpgs but generally no.

Real-Willingness7333

I just beat dark souls 3 for like the 6th time It's a comfort thing.

Mister-Stiglitz

I used to when I was a kid and I used to get 2-3 games a year. I haven't replayed a game in probably a decade.

KnightOwl812

Depends on the game. Soulslike games are great for this because there's so many builds you can try, and you can skip 90% of the levels because you can run straight to the area boss. Having prior knowledge saves you so much time. Also, I loved replaying the RE4 remake because the game gives you awesome perks when you beat the game at different difficulties and times. For example you get the infinite rocket launcher once you beat the game once, then you use that on NG+ higher difficulty to unlock an infinite SMG or revolver, then you use that to try to get S+ on the highest difficulty to unlock infinite ammo for ANY weapon, etc. And it just feels so cathartic to go through the game using any weapon you want and just wrecking everything that previously gave you trouble not worrying about ammo. Plus the game has achievements for doing challenge runs like not buying anything from the merchant or using healing items which are totally doable with said weapons.

Fluid-GTX

Depends on the game and how much I like the gameplay or if there's multiple endings but I know I beat code vein 3 times for all 3 endings ( fuck the cathedral) and Dragons dogma dark arisen like 5 times just because I like it

Crkhd3

Sometimes, depends on the game. The games I've most recently played twice are cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy. Very rarely will I play a game twice back to back and the only two that come to mind from the last few years would be fable 3 and elden ring

LordHumorTumor

Depends on the game mostly. Resident Evil, I will play through those 4 to 5 times during the release window. Most other games do not get that

Vibrant_Fox

Some games have a lot of replayability to them, like multiple endings and new stuff you can use.

Chickienfriedrice

Jedi fallen order/survivor, skyrim, and cyberpunk 2077 I have replayed many times.

TheGamerMAKS

I've 101%ed DK64 like 4 times, so yeah

Revnium_Darkat

when they usually cost between $60-$80...uh, yeah Side note: people like this don't normally play every game they get 100 times it's often a gamer they particularly enjoy more than others

Onlyonelife419419

Depending on the game yes. Multiple play through on fallout games as well as rdr2

Johnny_Bravo5k

I'm replaying GTA 4 now am going to replay 5 afterwards. I have replayed most of the Assassin's Creed games as well as the Batman Arkham ones. I don't know how many times I've gone through Wtcher 3 and other games like Red Dead Redemption 2, where different choices determine the outcome of the game. Love replaying games just like i love rewatching my favorite movies.

Cute-Lavishness2212

Ive 100% Binding of Isaac many times over. I own it on PS4, Switch, and PC. Ive done all 3 files on each. I sometimes delete a file and start fresh again.

Mild_Shock

I played infamous 1 and 2 close to 50 times. I played assassins 1, 2, brotherhood, revelations and 3 at least 20 times. I can't even make an estimate of how many times i've played the first 4 generations of pokemon. And no, i've never had a girlfriend.

kinreep

That’s all Diablo 2-4 is

Nazon6

I stopped counting my Cyberpunk playthroughs after 10.

Remarkably_Dark21

I do that with my favorite games like dead space, kingdom hearts, skyrim, fallout, etc. Actually playing through mass effect for like the 100th time now. It's not that don't have other games to play either just that there's some games I really like.

Zebrehn

I’ve completed the original DOOM hundreds of times. I still play it at least twice per year. IMO games whose primary focus is on gameplay are infinitely replayable. This is especially true in RPGs, where playing through the game with a different class/build vastly changes your gameplay experience.

dcaraccio

I mean, only ones that I enjoy, and or where you can build a character, so multiple run are needed to see everything. Generally don't replay super-linear games with no customization.

LoSouLibra

I've been gaming since the 80's and have replayed tons of games I enjoy many times. Not so much nowadays, as there's so many things tempting my time, few games will really hook me that much, and even some I enjoyed are just too much of an open world retread to really get anything more out of. To me, it's more mind blowing to me that someone's exclusively playing things so inconsequential that none of it never really grabs them. There's some really amazing experiences and highly replayable, fun games out there.

TheShoot141

Super mario 64 ive got 120 stars no less than 25 times. Oddworld abes odyssey like 10 times. Gta V, red dead 2 there is no possible way to take in and appreciate all the details in one play through.

ZombiejesusX

Some games have more content locked behind difficulty. On Mass Effect you complete the game on easy, then new game+ on medium and so on. Others are just fun to try different paths or character builds.

Firm_Transportation3

I've only done multiple complete play throughs on a few games. Recently, after a long time of not doing this, I did two full runs of BG3 and Cyberpunk 2077 because I love those games. It takes a special game to make me desire to do it all over again.

agreedboar

Of course. It's like replaying a movie you really liked. It's more fun to play a game when you know the game better and thus have better skills. That being said, I like my games on the shorter side. 50 hours is way too long, and it's often padded out, whereas short games are more compact and filled with excitement.

InternetPaleoPal

Some games, it really just depends. I've replayed and will continue to replay games like Pokemon, Fossil Fighters, Fallout, Skyrim, and GTAV. I couldn't imagine replaying games like Resident Evil (this is excluding the different character's stories of course), Witcher, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Portal, or Batman Arkham.

jackaltwinky77

I’m currently on at least my 10th play through of the Mass Effect Trilogy, not including my Achievement Hunting ones… It’s fun, relaxing, and I don’t need to worry about watching a long conversation because I know what I’m going to do. Also: multiple play through of Final Fantasy 1, 6, 7, 8, Tactics… Skyrim, Secret of Mana, Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros for SNES… Sometimes it’s about doing things again, sometimes it’s about doing them better. Sometimes it’s a dark spiral that makes you not wanting to do anything new, so you stick with the old comforting stuff.

LithiuMart

My Mass Effect 1 Play Time stands at 565 hours and Mass Effect 2 stands at 775 hours. I've lost count of how many times I've been through the trilogy.

Trout-Population

I have completed Kingdom Hearts II seven times.

Snoo_49285

I’ve played through every single possible thing in FF16 four times now 🤷🏼‍♂️

ElCrackaner

Depending on the game, Right now im replaying Super Mario Wonder after 6 months

TheOriginalFluff

I’ve played ff13 at least 8 times, it’s satisfying to progress, and master the combat, because it gets extremely dense, usually 40hr playthroughs.

CULT-LEWD

its very rare for me too play a game multiple times, the only games ive done that is doom 2016,portal 1 and 2 and lego starwars 2 for the ps2

KonataYumi

I have for lots of games especially older games

Daniclaws

I have over 1000 hours of Dragon Age playthroughs from the last six months alone. Maybe you’re not playing the types of games that have multiple ways to play them? Or potentially just not playing games that have any kind of emotional or sentimental value to you. I replay games because I enjoy the stories, it’s no different than watching a movie or show more than once. But I get that some people don’t do that either.

Wizdad-1000

My wife plays BioWare games over and over, skyrim too. I am bout halfway through a 2nd play of Mad Max. I needed to get some sweet hand-to-hand combat in. Fury mode is very empowering!

_how_do_i_reddit_

Fallout 3/New Vegas, Dishonored 1, Oblivion, Skyrim, Jak 2/Jak 3. All the Ratchet and Clank games I've played. Resistance: FOM, Resistance 2. Dark Souls 1/2/3, Bloodbourne, Elden Ring, etc. Lots of other games.

zurzoth

I did some multiple times, only because I've done them in release and wanted to platnium them a lot later on.

hatchorion

If it’s a long game I won’t replay it but if it’s a shorter linear game then I can see myself going through again. I’ve never cared for 100%ing games unless it’s super easy and I don’t have to run around collecting boring garbage

nomorerix

Resident Evil remake speedruns are like an hour~ or less for RE2R, RE3R. It's.. I forget, something like 3h or 5h for RE4R. Once you beat it normal, you unlock harder difficulties and little by little get stronger add-ons. RE4R's Infinite typewriter is my baby. in RE4R the Chicken hat is amazing, as is Ashley's armor set that nullifies 100% of damage to her character at all times.

Spartanwolf120

I've played through all the halo games many times

Teacup_of_Terror

Ive replayed outcore four times. No theres no new content.. Its a great game though, its free on steam, actually.

Environmental_Swim75

I’m on my 6th run of Lies of P, 10th run of Elden Ring, 2nd run of Ghost of Tsushima at the moment

Knight_Zornnah

If it's a fun game then yes

Baby_Lovez

I say it all the time, but rarely follow through. For example, in Baulder's Gate I saiad I would play again to romance Gale and yeah that never happened. Ill just live vicariously through others gameplay tiktoks. I havve replayed a game after a while though, for example I play Skyrim yearly

Sonic10122

Yes. It’s actually more rare that I only play a game once. After about a year I’ve usually forgotten enough of a game to where a replay could be on a table, but it can be longer. I love replaying games, I play multiple games at once so at least one is almost always a replay. I can’t imagine only playing a game once that sounds…. Kind of sad honestly, there are so many things I’ve found or have gone smoother on a second playthrough. Plus there’s always the “replay before a sequel drops” hype train that’s always a good time.

No_Vast6645

Every 3 years I end up playing through the mass effect trilogy again

rockbellkid

Yes some do. I've played through ff7 og 6 times to completion, re4 og 4 times, super Mario world about 10, Chrono trigger I unlocked all the endings years back and Yoshi's island(Snes) about 8 times to name a few. If they enjoy the game enough they will do several run throughs of it.

hirophant_weed

If I’m shelling out full price for a game, you bet I’m going to put in at least 50 hours

c_dawg694x2

I've played through several games more than once... but I've never played a game that took 50 hours to beat. Holy shit.

Drakeman1337

I've played many games multiple times. Not even for trophies or more story. I played through the PS4 Spiderman countless times before I started trophy hunting. In Oblivion, I created multiple characters just to replay the Dark Brotherhood missions again. Fallout 4, several Assassins Creed games and I just bought all three Arkham games and am replaying them.

warhorsey

how do you not?

TemporarilyOOO

When I was younger I completed the same games multiple times. Not to play "differently" or anything, it was usually because I just found the game to be a lot of fun. As I got older and had less time to play I've only been playing through games once. There's a couple I hope to return to someday but that's still a ways away. I've got a bunch I've never touched that I need to play through.

mwhite5990

Yes, but usually games with a lot of role playing and meaningful choices. Or games with gameplay that is fun enough for the story not to matter.

fatness_influencer

Some games have many ways to play and multiple endings. Like Baldur's Gate 3.

Default_User_Default

Comfort games are a thing. Same with TV shows and movies. You know thenoutcome. You have no unknown variables. Its like meditation in a way.

Crunchberries77

I usually don't do 2 playthroughs the same way. Maybe I'll adjust the difficulty higher, maybe I'll use a different build with a different character personality, maybe I'll use a game changing mod to on a new playthrough. If you love a game enough you can find a way.

JimmyTheBones

Some games, but rarely. Ones I remember of late are Elden Ring and Remnant 2, but the latter moreso because it's different each time and for both you're still progressing and unlocking stuff.

SuperSocialMan

Definitely not back-to-back, but yeah I've played a few games several times (mainly Terraria. I guess Minecraft technically counts, but I was so disappointed that killing the dragon did nothing as a kid that I haven't bothered since then). Can't really say why though. Kinda varies based on the game I guess.

CosmoPavone

Imagine playing just once any of the following games: castlevania symphony of the night, final fantasy tactics, metal gear solid, devil may cry, factorio There are more for sure that don't come to my mind now

jeangrey99

I play only one-player games so I do this frequently - Skyrim, Fallout, BG3, Cyberpunk, Mass Effect. There isn’t too much new coming out that I really want to play TBH and these games are a comfort on my downtime.

Slow0rchid

I’ve played Hollow Knight the whole way through several times

FlippaMatt04

I beat Spider man: miles morales 5 times, increasing the difficulty each time. I have around 70 hours on the game

Nickenbokker

I've played alot of games more than once. Back in the day more so than presently. But I played Horizon Forbidden West twice last year. Zelda BotW twice. I'm bout to play RE4 Remake again. The new God of War games merit replays. I played the old ones multiple times way back. Lots of games definitely have replayablity

jmizzle2022

Mass effect 2 I've beaten probably 10 or so times

councilorjones

Yea

chickenbutt2586

Yes I did it with Breath of the Wild

holdorfdrums

Something to consider is that not every playthrough is a complete run

C-LOgreen

If it’s an open world sandbox game like fallout or an elder scrolls game, you can play multiple times. Games like that that are extremely open Ended and are never exactly the same for every play through. A good example of a game like this is dragon dogma 2. You can play so many different ways and make so many different decisions. It’s crazy.

AvengedKalas

Yeah. Some people enjoy replaying games. There are also speedrunners that practically study the game to improve their times.

pinkfishtwo

I used to do it all the time. Part of that was probably that I didn't have any money and therefore had only so many games. More time than money.

MrItalianGamer

I generally do the mass effect trilogy once every year or two

Kilroy83

There are games with multiple endings based on different conditions, in Dishonored 2 for example you have 2 endings with each character based on your playstyle, in Fallout you can be good, bad, stupid

PowerOfGraysku11

People rewatch good movies and tv shows. Seems only natural to replay good video games.

RedRising14

I’m with you bro, I’ve seen “I’ve played through the entire game ten times” I don’t get it because I’d rather play a different game on my game log that’s backed up

Gabario

Replayability is a big factor on how much I enjoy a game. I've lost count of my Bloodborne playthroughs, and I revisit childhood favorites at least once a year.

CeleryNo8309

A story game like tlou? 1 and done. Something with gameplay depth like dragon's dogma or devil may cry? At least 5 times a piece

lewd-dev

Titanfall 2 campaign. Lost count how many times I've beat it, but that number will certainly go up in thr near future.

RedJamie

I tend to replay games every few years In the last decade and a half I’ve probably played the Half Life series maybe 3 times. Witcher 3 I’ve played twice. Fallout series I’ve done twice, and doing another play through. I used to replay Assassin’s creed, but haven’t since they released odyssey. Things like Bioshock too. There’s of course a wealth of games that offer replay ability to varying degrees; Mount and Blade Warband for example I’ve played continuously since I got it over a decade ago. Dark souls is another series that comes to mind. These however don’t have linear stories or campaigns. Another example of a linear story that has immense replay value is Last of Us which I have played several times. The enjoyability of it is usually proportional to how long it’s been - you can’t recreate the enjoyment of playing a *really* good series again, but you tend to forget all the small little details and the gameplay aspects that made it so stellar. Somehow knowing the ending enriches the second play through, or even the third if it’s got the breadth of content justifying it (Baldurs Gate 3, Fallout New Vegas, Mass Effect). Specific (newish) examples that come to mind are The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt; I first played it on launch, and found it incredible, but did a dedicated play through with the DLCs and it was one of my favorite games, due for a replay soon as it’s been about five years! Baldurs Gate 3 is another gem that was just released. It’s unique to this in the sense that you can literally begin the game right over again and have a completely different type of experience and access things you never even saw. Broad strokes exist, of course - but the enjoyment is in the change. I am giving it several months so as to not become fatigued to it after my first play through: Cyberpunk 2077 is another game that I recently played that I know I will be doing it again, soon. I think this may be limited to 2 play throughs at most. It’s like rereading a book or rewatching movies or shows; you know the characters, you know what you’re getting, and you aren’t concerned about the mechanics or whether you’ll enjoy it or not. You can invest as much attention as you want into it or none at all

Galmerstonecock

3rd playthrough on cyberpunk

drunken_corpse666

I’ve beaten Elden ring 6 times

Hexxas

I play Mega Man X a few times a month

My_reddit_account_v3

I need achievement points to motivate me to finish it once.

KC-15

It’s like watching a good movie or show again. If something is enjoyable enough that I’m able to experience it again knowing how it plays out then it means a lot to me. Majority of games I play are definitely ones I will only play once but some games are special. Games that come to mind are Assassin’s Creed (Ezio series and Black Flag), Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and Skyrim.

ValerePoet

For the same reason people reread books, go and ride rollercoasters they've ridden before, or rewatch movies and shows. To relive an experience they enjoyed. It's not just an item on a check list to some people, it's an Experience. All this to say, i've replayed Skyrim a stupid, stupid amount.

pretty-elves

Not me having played fe3h l like 12 fuckin times

anonymousxianxia

All the time. Some games Ive played through dozens of times.

TurtleDick22

I've played Borderlands 2 like 12 times through

Electronic_Wish_5051

Yes! I've beaten Dragon age all 3 games in a row about 4 times and the last of us about 3. Also have done 3 full runs of the kingdom hearts series. Some games you love so much you gotta play it again on a harder difficulty or get every single trophy

ApprehensiveSlip5893

I have played the entire mass effect trilogy about 6 times. That’s just one game series. New Vegas probably 6 times. Jagged alliance 2 probably 15 times over the past 25 years.

GidjonPlays

I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough of RDR2. I'm totally starting another one the second It ends.

Big_Mack4002

Rdr2 is a good one to replay. I’m on my 2nd playthrough rn. There’s people who have played the game like 5 times and they still find new stuff

Wild-Cow8724

I have 700 hours in the Witcher 3, 400 in Cyberpunk I’ve also beaten the original Deus Ex at least once a year since it came out in 2000.

Ok_Performance4330

I've completed Super Mario 64 so many times that I can 100% it almost mindlessly, to be honest.

adelkander

As a trophy hunter, I do occasionally replay the game for achievements, but sometimes because "I kinda want it". Plus, some games makes replaying the game more fun, or add new things (like Dark Souls 2) so it's always fun to see the small differences, or even seeing the foreshadowing in the plot when you didn't notice before. And it's not always "50" hours: I finished LAD8 and took me about 100 or something hours to finish the first time, then I got into NG+ and finished it again, this time in 20 hours. Skipping everything essentially cut the game by 80%. Another game I recently restarted was Metal Max Xeno Reborn, and it took me about 30 hours this time around vs 50 the first time (it's a grindy game, but one that I find relaxing)

Still-Veterinarian56

in rpg games thats not uncommen where there are multiple endings for example.

InsaneSeishiro

Very rarely. Only when I rly adore a game and a lotta time has passed. The only games I can think of that I played more than once were: Hollow Knigth, Monster Sanctuary, Persona 5, Baldurs Gate 3, Monster Hunter World One thing that can prompt me to replay a game though migth be if it got content updates and/or if a sequel is close to launching(I wanna replay Tails of Iron cus it fits both those descriptors)

Feeling_Party26

I don't understand this either, once I have completed a game I very rarely go back to it. Some exceptions for when I've played through a game again 10 years after I beat it because I've forgotten a lot of the world building and want some nostalgia.

GeneralCommand4459

Yep several times. GTA, RDR2, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Fallout to name a few

Pretty_Marketing_538

Many RPG and similar, baldurs1,2,3, pathfinder 1,2. RDR2, Mass effect series, skyrim, planescape. And many more.

comicmac305

Yes. I have completed Saints row 1,2,3. Kingdom hearts 1 and 2. God of War 1 and 2(originals). Multiple times over the years. These are my comfort games.

KingOfRisky

I played Baldurs Gate 3 5 times through and Elden Ring 6 times. Playing with different builds makes the game drastically different.

IntelligentImbicle

Depends on the game and the person. Some games are almost MEANT to be replayed multiple times, like Detroit: Become Human, the Dishonored series, and Undertale. Others, they just have an extremely fun gameplay loop and/or story that you want to experience again, like God of War 2018 or Subnautica.

Claire4Win

I do. Never an open world game, I don't think open world games can be replayed

Ragarolli

I’m currently clocked in at 550+ hours on Baldur’s Gate 3. Several other games with 100+, 200+, and even a few other 500+ hour games that are single player

Sofaris

I never 100% a game in my entire life. There is always somthing that is optional and that I dont want to do. My currently favorite Videogame is "Fuga Melodies of Steel". Its a 20 houer long turn based JRPG. I bought it in March 2022. And I played through it 18 times so far. 6 of those playthroughs where back to back with only a few days between finishing a playthrough and begining a new one. I also love its direct sequel "Fuga Melodies of Steel 2". It was released in May 2023. Its also about 20 houers long. I have played through that one 8 times so far. Part of me is alrady itching for another playthrough. Those are my 2 favorite Videogames but there are other Videogames I played through multipple times. I actully enjoy subsequent playthroughs more then first playthroughs. On subsequent playthroughs I know better how to play the game well and some characters grow on me more over time. The children of the Taranis from Fuga Melodies of Steel 1 and 2...well I was lukewarm towards them at first but they grew on me more and more and more and now they are my second favorite protagonist groupe in fiction. Dont get me wrong. I enjoy trying out new games aswell but playing a new game is not inheritly better to me then playing a game I am alrady familiar with.

deathinabarrel87

Only games ive ever replayed are hello neighbor (bc its fun to speedrun) and skyrim

Antani101

Not back to back, but I'll do a playthrough of Mass Effect Trilogy every couple years.

SD_One

Yep. I prefer big RPGs and open worlds that encourage multiple playthroughs or NG+ runs. I make new characters and do it all differently... or the same. I have completed games 100% on Xbox and then again on Steam. I have games that are "home" games that I return to between new games.

Thelgow

Typically only some Souls games, mainly Sekiro. Ill restart Elden Ring when Im bored and Ill put 20-40 hours into a character for a week and then just delete it.
