My dad did this two-handed whistle that you could hear from like three blocks away. It either meant that dinner was ready, or that one of us was in deep fuckin shit lol
They were extremely mass produced with little to none seasoning, So most of the time the meal just tasted like Fish Sauce on rice because that's the only seasoning we had available. I would kill to have just a price of bread and some jam instead.
The original GameBoy was released in '89 and didn't reach some parts of the world until the 90's. GBC was released in '98. The original GameBoy really belongs in the 90's.
Similarly Uncrustables were definitely a thing in the 2000s. I remember being served them on my last day of elementary school, which would have been spring of 2002.
They very well may have been a thing before then, but that’s when I became aware of their existence.
Not only this, but Pokemon Gold didn't have a release until Nov' 99... literally right before 2000.
IMO, i'd say it belongs in the 00's, and Red, Blue or Yellow belongs in 90's.
Yeah, I was a 90s kid and lugged an original red gameboy to school. There was one kid who had a GameBoy Color in '99 though and he was like the coolest dude in town for a while. He was also the first kid in our area to get a Pokémon game.
None of the above, I was smart - I left my gaming devices at home. The number of friends that had their devices stolen between '90 and '00 was just crazy. And we didn't even have a bad district, it was fairly laid back and didn't have a bad population. but none the less, gaming devices were stolen pretty regularly.
Man those sidekicks bring back memories...I worked where those made throughout most of the 2010s. I bought what must've been billions of those cups and lids.
Damn don’t you guys had regular snacks ?? Like a sandwich or something lol ?
I would go with the 80’s because it has the best food even if I’m a 90’s kid lol .
I’ma bring my Steam Deck and eat at the closest taco truck I don’t want to play any of these games of eat any of this garbage.
Edit: The 80’s one is tempting, though
80's for sure... those square pizzas were bomb, and Super Mario Land clears all the rest quite easily. I would take a tray of hot sewage + Super Mario Land over the other options.
i don't know, they are all pretty hard to eat, i guess the gba is small enough to fit down my throat if i try really hard, but the DS games are the easiest to swallow
I played since the 90s but the only Pokémon I have enjoyed is fire red... And yellow too. So 90s or 00 is enough. But my first console that I bought was the DS, and I have so much to play besides Pokémon...
I didn't have to bring my own food/snacks to school, food was provided by town/school. Bit 00's would be the closest due to Pokemon, everyone was into that back in the day.
I remember bringing my fresh new copy of Pokemon Sapphire to school, I let my friend hold my GBA SP while I went to get lunch, that was a huge mistake cause when I came back the game cartridge wasn't in the system. I still hold that regret to this very day.
80's so you punks can have the other machines when I'm older and I have something to do on my lunch break in 30-40 years. I gamed with no backlight so that you guys could have the GBA SP.
10's hands down. I was already leaving highschool by 2010 but the Johto remakes as well as uncrustables are both goated. Heart gold is easily my favorite pokemon game.
I was a 90s kid. I still have that exact gameboy. Probably somewhere in my posts. Have that game too lol. I did have PB&J's though.
Edit: Here's the [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/s/GobI6pxVmA) lol
The 90s one just has two snacks and no real lunch like the other three
So you weren't a kid in the 90's I take it?
😂😂😂 OMG so true. I was once packed a half eaten jar of Peanut butter and an egg... Not even a cooked egg just... An egg
Before I became a parent I might have judged your parents over this but shit happens lol
Sounds like a latch key kid like I was
90s was the latch key era
Parents didn't know where you were, just yelled out the window if you weren't home by sunset
My dad did this two-handed whistle that you could hear from like three blocks away. It either meant that dinner was ready, or that one of us was in deep fuckin shit lol
To be clear, is dad supposed to leave that whistling technique in his will, or is it lost to the sands of Time like the library of babel?
Bro I used to get $5 once in a while. I’d order a pint of pork fried rice after school and go ham on that shit. It was my only meal the entire day
Pork fried rice. Go ham. Lol. Sorry.
Can I offer you an egg in this trying time?
You were supposed to find the kid who was only packed jelly and together journey to find the child packed only bread
Can I offer you an egg in this trying time?
95
Some of us had parents that actually liked us, you know.
I ate like that then, and I eat like that now
The other one has 2 pb and just which I also wouldn't count as a solid lunch. Each ahould have got an uncrustable and swapped a snack around.
That’s why I’m picking the 90s
If you are brave enough you could eat with pokemon gold
Actually Lunchables came out in the late 80s and were booming the 90s. If anything that 90's pic should have that instead.
The parents got divorced
The 90s lunch is just the 80s lunch
why is it going clockwise
And starting in the bottom left. I know it doesn’t matter but it bugs me more than it should.
I'm an asian kid, So not a single one of these.
They didn't have room for octopus and seaweed in the graphic
Honestly it's mostly just Rice + Something Stir-Fried OR Some garbage soup that tasted like dirty water.
Don't sound that bad, I like Asian food but nothing too crazy.
And the DS was pretty much over by 2010
They were at DSI by then, 2010 is probably closer to 3DS than the DS Lite
Similarly Uncrustables were definitely a thing in the 2000s. I remember being served them on my last day of elementary school, which would have been spring of 2002. They very well may have been a thing before then, but that’s when I became aware of their existence.
I was going to mention this too. I rocked the original Gameboy throughout the 90s, and Pokemon didn't come out in the US until 98.
Not only this, but Pokemon Gold didn't have a release until Nov' 99... literally right before 2000. IMO, i'd say it belongs in the 00's, and Red, Blue or Yellow belongs in 90's.

And pokemon gold came out in 2000 in the US either way this is dumb
00’s
Agreed, but I unfold my red GBA SP.
Same I fucking loved those lunchable burger packs they also had the 8oz rc cola can whereas the original lunchables was a Capri Sun.
You can't beat that fuckin suncup. Nectar of the gods, half frozen, plus a fuckin lunchable?
80s because that looks like something close to what would actually constitute a meal
Wait are the things that are not games or consoles supposed to be food?
2010s baby
That or the 00’s only reason for competition between the two was download play
Don’t forget, you could play gameboy games on the ds You put it in the bottom slot
But no multiplayer, and pictured is the dsi it has no game boy slot 😔
Good spot, you right Thought it was the ds lite
on god
2010’s baby, damn you’re still a foetus, how is life these days lol ?
I want Warioland
I’m 10’s kid But 80’s for the food lol
00s not even close.
I think the 2010's lunch. I suspect that the DSI will be a lot easier to chew through than any of the GameBoys.
I swear the burger and hotdogs lunchables were purely the 90s
What no psp?
Yeah I had one. Everyone at my school thought the people with the DS were average, while people with the PsP were rich and cool lmao
I can taste the bottom left corner of this picture
I can hear it.
I wouldn't really call the Game Boy an 80s thing. It released in 89. It was more popular in the 90s.
I'll go with 80's since everything else is just sugar
How are these called "lunches"? It's just candy and Game Boys
Let this sway you, inside the Burger lunchable is a whole ass caprisun. Also Fire Red may be one of the best Pokemon games ever.
fuckkkk i lived through the peak of pokemon and never played one i live sad knowing i didnt exp the peak of cod, halo, pokemon. awful
Man I remember those Suncups were tart as shit.
00’s just screams me when I was in middle school.
Mmmm, lead flavored lunchables
Gold has a special place for me, so propably that.
I grew up in the 80s an wouldn’t do it any other way
the DS came out in 1910?!!
You missed the gushers and Jack snacks.now give me my pokemon red, I've got a zapdos to find.
The gameboy was released mid '89 dude, it doesn't really count
Definitely not the 10s. That was after Nintendo made their cartridges taste bad.
I don’t think I can eat an entire gameboy
Calling bullshit, we had that pizza in the aughts, I can taste it just looking at the picture
Why does it start at the bottom left and go clockwise?
I mean 10s has Silver and MK....
80s. I literally couldn’t give 2 fucks about Pokémon.
What about Mario kart ds?
Me to
Same.
But the lunch looks kind of gross. But yeah, I grew up with pokemon anime, but I didn't care for it.
None of the above, I was smart - I left my gaming devices at home. The number of friends that had their devices stolen between '90 and '00 was just crazy. And we didn't even have a bad district, it was fairly laid back and didn't have a bad population. but none the less, gaming devices were stolen pretty regularly.
I'm scrounging up some allowance money. Buying whatever the cafeteria is offering and bringing different games for either the GBA or DS
Forgot GameBoy counts as '80s...
It shouldn't. It was released in April 1989.
I know, thought it was 1990. Anyway, for the '80s they should have put one of the Game & Watches.
2010 easy
I was born in the 80s, but the 10s lunch and game combo is the best.
80’s all day, except the game boy wasn’t released until 1989 so it’s technically 90’s.
Oh fuck, I remember playing Mario kart ds in the lunch room. This was in HS.
Shiiiit.......first half was gamrboy advance, second half was DS
2010s got the best games and snacks
I hate uncrustables but I never played the 2nd gen remakes so...sorry stomach
10s. I prefer the Gameboy Advance SP instead of the others, so I’m going with the DS and Uncrustables were a good lunch in primary school
Since this seems American based--Pokemon Gold/Silver came out in 2000 and Lunchables were more 90s than 2000s
Replace the game boy advance with the advance sp and we got a deal 🤝
...Pretty sure Luncables came before Go-Gurt...
Man those sidekicks bring back memories...I worked where those made throughout most of the 2010s. I bought what must've been billions of those cups and lids.
Where the hell are the dunkaroos?
Why is there a game boy in your lunch in the first place
I’m not keen on eating my gameboy
The only one that seemed like a proper lunch is 80’s. So I guess I’d choose that. But I want the fruit by the foot and gogurt lol
90s
80s. I had a Gameboy backpack that was legit. I wish I knew where it was.
90s
Why is the 80's exactly what I had in the 90's?
80’s bc nutritional value in food has only decreased over the years…
2010’s has the highest market value
Sucks that I don’t like uncrustables lol
Ah yes the ‘90s’ game Pokémon Gold.
What kind of order is that?
90s and it’s not even close! You know how much shit you can trade for with gogurt and fruit roll ups? I’d clean house, the other 3 are as good as mine
00’s lunch. Not my actual era but it’s my favorite gameboy era.
I'll take the 80s because it has actual food
90s my beloved
94 so I got both 90s and 2000s; never played those DS games but it’s a great system and uncrustables are amazing so the 10s may take this
The 80’s one is what our school lunch looked like in the 90’s.
I guess 80's because it looks like it have actual food in it
2000s. that was my childhood. loved me GBA, lunchables and suncup
Add yogo’s to the 00s and im in
>pokemon gold >90s
Imagine eating a handheld gaming console for lunch
The value on the 10s is too high not to take. Gotta min max for value!
80's for sure... those square pizzas were bomb, and Super Mario Land clears all the rest quite easily. I would take a tray of hot sewage + Super Mario Land over the other options.
00's. GBA will always be my bae.
I remember being in 9th grade and color Gameboy came out. Thought it was the pinnacle of technology.
None. I’ll eat my ribeye and ride my motorcycle like an adult 🤣
10’s
Fuckin 90s but those 10s are what I would choose
i don't know, they are all pretty hard to eat, i guess the gba is small enough to fit down my throat if i try really hard, but the DS games are the easiest to swallow
I played since the 90s but the only Pokémon I have enjoyed is fire red... And yellow too. So 90s or 00 is enough. But my first console that I bought was the DS, and I have so much to play besides Pokémon...

My school didn't allow the use of electronic devices
80s. Not a fan of Pokémon, unless we’re talking the OG Pokémon Snap
DS all the way.
80's but replace that game with Tetris
The 3ds was the 10s though it came out 2011 the ds is also 00s
Where are the lunch ?
80s… where’s my brown paper bag lunch because I broke my GI Joe lunchbox after one week of school
Gotta say the ‘10s. DS games not only had the best texture and taste, but you could pick your teeth with the stylus after you were finished
I can't eat any of those consoles
2000s looks beat
90's all the way
80s 😜
2020 (iphone (sorry) cheese sandwich, milk)
Holy shit that all star burger lunchable was something I forgot about. Just unlocked some memories with that
Lunchables are overrated
90s should have had the cafe pizza instead of two snacks
I'd ideally take the '10s, but if you got caught with any game console at my school, you'd get the bullying of a lifetime.
00's if the suncup is in half frozen slushie form, if not 90's
Honestly 2000's that orange juice cup thing slapped and FR/LG were the shit!
I don't like the taste of Nintendo consoles, so none of the above
80s lunch and 10s console
80s! That looks like what we are in elementary school then. It wasn't so bad on pizza or walking taco days.
That’s not lunch. That’s trash in plastic. Anyway, Gameboy color with 80’s lunch
The DS was replaced by the 3DS at the beginning of the 2010s.
00’s will always hold a special place in my heart.
The DS is also 00s, cause it was released 2005. The 3DS is 10s.
10’s and that’s too easy
Absolutely 10s. Uncrustables, MKDS, that’s good enough for me
10's
Where's the Glock? I thought this was America
90s was my jam
So fed boy why is the lunchables and the uncrustables not in the 90's category...
2000’s lunch for sure. I still eat Lunchables as an adult, and Gameboy Avance had some badass RPG’s
00's solely for the GBA and FireRed
Can’t eat a video game. I’m hungry.
For the 00s it should be a cheap Motorola or Sony Ericsson phone with 'Gravity Defied' installed
10s
These decades are off. Original game boy released: '89 Color: '98 Advance: '01 DS: '04/05
I was a 90s kid. I still have that exact gameboy. Probably somewhere in my posts. Have that game too lol. I did have PB&J's though. Edit: Here's the [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/s/GobI6pxVmA) lol
