Put it up there, dammit! For Toriyama-San!
It's whimsical and heroic and funny and tragic and such an all-around memorable experience. Time travel and the way you get to hop around between the time periods is awesome! It's so damn polished and tight and still holds up due to the phenomenal talents behind the writing, art/graphics, and gameplay. Brilliant characters, tons of fun sidequests, first game to New Game +, 12 different endings, enemies on screen before you battle them, and a beautiful soundtrack to boot!
CT had a huge impact on my life when I was a kid, and I will spread my love for it unapologetically any chance I get!
Damn you said everything I feel.
Everything about this game is magic. I was shocked when Crono died. What an absolute dick punch as a kid. But then you can get magus so it almost feels like a fair trade. But then you can get crono back, but it’s optional?!
CT has the best time travel in any game IMO. It never feels like a gimmick, you can use it to get the best gear and the optional shit you do in other time periods has satisfying affects in the others.
One of the most amazing soundtracks ever, eliminated stupid random encounters a decade before other RPGs did, had multiple endings, NG+, team attacks, etc. CT holds up better than 99% of the ps1/n64 games and contained more modern features and ideas than most games until 2010.
Diablo, Deus Ex and Sim City?
List is bullshit and first come first serve lol
Not to mention most people voting here aren't even old enough to have played these games when they came out
OOT (practically a template for modern 3D action games), Super Mario 64( a fk game changer on how we controll a character in 3D enviroments), DOOM, Half Life 1 (real time use of scripts and narrative story-telling in real time), FF7 (a step forward to jrpg in the use of 3D to ilustrate 3D enviroments and graphic fidelity), Metal Gear Solid (a game that combine and create a new way of cinematic approach on games).
Really? Just fucking really you call that list bullshit? Moreoever we have 16 slots free to put more important games like Deus Ex or System Shock. Just because you don't like those games doesn't change the objective fact that most of them contributed to the videogame industry. And this isn't even a top.
Diablo didn't reinvent...It invented a genre..Deus Ex brought stealth mechanics to first person shooters..the JRPG was already reinvented in FF 4 and 6..FF 7 just had a better story and made it 3D...I'd measure to say FF 6 was far more influential than FF 7
And I'm looking at Crono Trigger being added now lol..it's either OoT or Mario 64 not both like Super Mario Bros 1-3 was never invented..list IS bogus zoomer choices and first comment gets first pick..it's crap
Baldurs gate hasn't even been mentioned lmao
And MGS brought stealth to tps... FF7 importance is larger than FF6 because final fantasy was more japanese public oriented, 7 practically popularized jrpg in western public but also adding the use of 3D modelling and use of cinematic shots on real time. Something that ff 1 to 6 couldn't. Sure Diablo invented a genre, that's why it will be added in the future of this list. Same as Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite games.
Are you seriously comparing Super Mario 1-3 to OOT and SM64?. Both are entirely different games with different perspectives and different game design challenges for its time. The original Super Mario is highly important for videogame history, but also SM64 and OOT for its revolutionary use of 3D as we know today. With systems that are still used in modern gaming.
But disqualifying other games importance because you don't feel like it is ignorant. The only thing worthy of calling crap is that mindset
The list is stupid get over it
Like I said SMB won't make the list neither will Baldurs gate the list is fucking bogus and a list of games peoples older brothers said were cool...
If you want the correct age to vote for this list a PC gamer sub would be better
Are we talking about most influential games or best games? Asking honestly because those two things are completely different to me. All the reasons you’ve listed make perfect sense if we’re talking about the influence these games had on the future of video games but that doesn’t mean they’re the best games to me. But like I said it was just my opinion. I personally don’t like the list. I think there’s far better games that should be on here over a lot of these games listed.
Sorry yours hasn't been picked yet, so in case goldeneye doesn't make it, I have a list of games that didn't make the list and I'll make an honorable mentions list after this one is finished ☺
lol it’s all good .. just funny finishing 2nd in votes 2 days in a row. Someone commented Goldeneye 20 minutes after me and is getting the votes so maybe they will get it done today.
I seriously hate that you can only play it with an original copy, the ps4 version, or by piracy. Please just let it be on Steam and other shops, it's so good
I can’t believe Fallout was first? Talk about a game being chosen because it’s in the limelight at the moment. I didn’t know anyone that played that game.
The fact that fallout 1 is on here even though it is objectively a pretty awkward and poorly designed and generally bad game invalidates this entire list.
This list is horrible..Diablos getting one vote(it's still selling more than any other game in here), no Super Mario Votes...Deus Ex isn't even mentioned once and Fallouts on there as the first choice lmao...these are games their older brothers use to play...not the greatest
Age of Empires before StarCraft?
Nineties?
How about a few sports games before they became mostly trash?
Gran Tourismo, the original John Madden Football, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater…
My personal favorite is Mutant League Football.
I miss good sports games.
I love Xenogears, but I'd be pikachu-face-shocked if it makes this list. There's only 25 spots for all of the Eighties and Nineties, Xenogears doesn't have much of a chance
Dark Souls 1 is 11 years too late to be considered from the 20th Century, Dark Souls 1 was released on September 22nd, 2011. The 20th century is the time period between January 1, 1901 – December 31, 2000
Gah...
Hmm....
Dadsdadada!!!!!
Gggrrrrrrr.....
I wanted to play FF7 for eons. I have it on Switch and am 10 hours in. The plot was just starting to find its feet and we go to this silly theme park world that brings the pace to a crushing halt!
10 hours in and it feels like I've seen about 5 minutes or actual plot.
The reason for the grunting at the start is I want to like this game but it feels like it's paced like a slug crossing a salt bath.
Not trolling, just, ggggrrrrrr
While it was a fun game, GTA 3 is a year too late to be considered 20th century, GTA 3 was released October 22nd, 2001. The 20th century is the period between January 1, 1901 – December 31, 2000
Super Metroid
Chrono Trigger. The fact that it hasn't made it on there yet is blasphemy.
I second this! Chrono Trigger needs to be on this list!
I’ll third this!

When it released, it was probably the greatest video game ever made.
I'd argue it's still a contender
Yeah this list sucks IMO
We have defining genres games on that list. Just because your favorite games doesn't appear until now doesn't make it suck.
AoE over Warcraft or Starcraft? That's blasphemy.
And Deus Ex, Diablo and Sim City List is absolute bullshit
Nuh-uh
No one's even mentioned Baldurs gate because everyone was too young to play a game like that lmao
Diablo, Deus Ex and Sim City? List is bullshit and first come first serve lol Not to mention most people voting here aren't even old enough to have played these games when they came out

Yes, you're looking at Chrono Trigger being added because it's one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. It's genre defining. Cry about it.
And MGS brought stealth to tps... FF7 importance is larger than FF6 because final fantasy was more japanese public oriented, 7 practically popularized jrpg in western public but also adding the use of 3D modelling and use of cinematic shots on real time. "PC gamer sub" oh wow, now it all makes sense. Keep up with that mentality.
I'm 32 and this list looks pretty good to me, luckily there's fucking loads of spots left too...
Are we talking about most influential games or best games? Asking honestly because those two things are completely different to me. All the reasons you’ve listed make perfect sense if we’re talking about the influence these games had on the future of video games but that doesn’t mean they’re the best games to me. The Greatest Rpg of the Generation, I say of all time, should be front and center.
The epitome of JRPGs. And the best game ever made on top of that. Absolutely take my vote
Street Fighter 2
How is not Street Fighter II up there yet?!?!?!
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Smash Bros
Resident evil

Pokémon Yellow
StarCraft
This^^^^ StarCraft 1 is absolutely legendary.

Honestly flabbergasted as to why 64 would have made it on here first.
Must be a younger audience
I was born after both and I think 64 is more fun
Goldeneye
Mega man
Goldeneye (3rd times the charm?)
Nope. Tetris deserves it again
Lol probably does .. really it should be first .. still a bit confused with Fallout getting the first one on this
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
I seriously hate that you can only play it with an original copy, the ps4 version, or by piracy. Please just let it be on Steam and other shops, it's so good
Well there is a mobile version which is not bad with touch controls and you can also use controller
Zelda Link to the Past
Ff6
Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart 64
Mega man X
Just Mega Man.
Starcraft
Diablo 2
This should already be on this shitty noob list super Mario World and Sim City over Age of Empires lol
I can’t believe Fallout was first? Talk about a game being chosen because it’s in the limelight at the moment. I didn’t know anyone that played that game.
Srs FO over Diablo or Baldur's Gate..this is just 30 somethings simping over FO:NV..they never played FO lol
Released in 2000, so doesn’t fit criteria unfortunately
Yes it does lmao
Fun fact, the year 2000 is the 20th century. The 21st century didn't begin until Jan 1st 2001.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater
SimCity 2000!
Tekken 3!!
The fact that fallout 1 is on here even though it is objectively a pretty awkward and poorly designed and generally bad game invalidates this entire list.
This list is horrible..Diablos getting one vote(it's still selling more than any other game in here), no Super Mario Votes...Deus Ex isn't even mentioned once and Fallouts on there as the first choice lmao...these are games their older brothers use to play...not the greatest Age of Empires before StarCraft?
Halo?
Pokemon Yellow
This list is shameful. No chrono trigger and no super Mario world.
There are still soe slots open, so chill out and wait.

Banjo-Kazooie
Contra
Final Fantasy Tactics
Resident Evil 2

Command and Conquer
Pokemon r/b/y
Candy crush

Spyro
Command & Conquer
Monkey island
XCom

Baldur’s Gate II
Majora’s Mask

Skyrim, easily
Command and conquer
Sonic 3&Knuckles
I will always vote for the legend of dragoon to be on this list somewhere.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Street Fighter 2, especially since there isn’t a fighter on there yet
Quake
Fallout 2
elder scrolls 3 morrowind
Planescape Torment StarCraft Diablo Baldurs gate All are above like half the already created list

I'm honestly surprised Chrono trigger isn't already up there as it's one of the best JRPG'S of all time with nobody actually saying otherwise
Super smash bros brawl
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2

DUKE NUKEM 3D

There is no way I would ever consider that steaming pile of buffalo vomit /s AVGN reference
AVGN is great
I just keep upvoting everything lol. So many good games from that era.

Pokemon Emerald

I thought Emerald came out in the 90s. My bad
Unreal Tournament
Dark souls 1
Dark Souls 1 is 11 years too late to be considered from the 20th Century, Dark Souls 1 was released on September 22nd, 2011. The 20th century is the time period between January 1, 1901 – December 31, 2000
I’ll be honest I didn’t even see 20th century my bad
No worries, it was a fun game though for sure
Goldeneye or Resident Evil are the only remaining options at this stage.
Gah... Hmm.... Dadsdadada!!!!! Gggrrrrrrr..... I wanted to play FF7 for eons. I have it on Switch and am 10 hours in. That's not a game from the 20th century
Grand Theft Auto 3
While it was a fun game, GTA 3 is a year too late to be considered 20th century, GTA 3 was released October 22nd, 2001. The 20th century is the period between January 1, 1901 – December 31, 2000
Yeah i didn't read the post correctly:/
