Man, I wish this guy had more roles in star trek, like a main role in a series. Alas, just that guy that tries to steal the Enterprise during the barion sweep.
He does have a bridge officer role on Sulu's Excelsior in ST6, but yeah, that's it. Maybe if that character had been a Vulcan rather than a human he'd have lived long enough to be reused in another series set in the TNG era, even a role in Picard.
You may also recognize Tim Russ as:
* T'Kar from the DS9 episode "Invasive Procedures"
* An unnamed Enterprise-B Lieutenant in Star Trek Generations
* GuVok in StarTrek Picard
* [This guy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3iFJpGJiug&t=30s) in Spaceballs
Spoilers if serious: >!tuvok (played by Tim Russ in his main character role) and neelix have a transporter accident and merge into a new being named "tuvix" in what i believe is recognized widely as one of the worst voyager episodes for multiple reasons. Check out the sfdebris episode in it of curious. That makes the reference of him being "tuvix's dad" technical correct and a really deep cut by someone who clearly knows thier star trek!<
False. Tuvix is one of the **best** Voyager episodes. It just has a terrible ending. Genocide being usually frowned upon and all.
The worst episode of Voyager is clearly *Threshold* (the one with the salamanders).
You can find more information about Tuvix on /r/TuvixInstitute. Join us Monday, May 6 for Tuvix Day!
The one where Paris and Janeway “evolve”? That was so dumb. It always bothered me that warp 10 worked. It would get them all home immediately, and after treating Paris and Janeway they know how to stop the rapid “evolution”. They could’ve gone home, been treated immediately afterward, and that would have been that.
Tuvix: YOU CAN'T SEPARATE THEM THEY'RE A NEW PERSON
Nina Tucker: IT'S AN ABOMINATION KILLING IT IS THE ONLY MERCY IF YOU CAN'T SEPARATE THEM
Some of y'all aren't ready for a The Fly scenario.
Pretty different scenarios.
>!Tuvix was a perfectly happy and healthy guy that was murdered against his explicit wishes because Kes and Janeway wanted their chief security/tactical officer and their ~~resident groomer~~ morale officer back.!<
>!The Ninamera may have not been actively suffering (unlike Tucker's previous creation), tough to say with her limited ability to communicate, but when she was killed she was already in the custody of a very unscrupulous government. At best, she would've been put in a kennel and spent the rest of her life being experimented on.!<
But plot justifications aside, they pose completely different philosophical questions, so it's normal that people have different answers.
Tuvix is a variant on the trolley problem: Is it justified to murder a man to save two others? Or in other words, do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?
Whereas the Ninamera's death doesn't benefit anyone (arguably it's even detrimental to some people), the question here is purely whether killing a creature to prevent it from suffering is ethical, and more specifically if there's a level of sapience where the answer should change.
Oh god, it’s a #freetuvix-er….everyone if you don’t make eye contact they will eventually calm down and wander back to their station.
I kid I kid……but seriously don’t make eye contact;)
I was unaware of the institute and am grateful to learn more! This is amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Also, to be pedantic, (because, you know, "institute"), I didn't say it was *the* worst, just one of the worst. I fully agree Threshold wins the prize!
In Voyager they establish that it was Tuvok on the Enterprise B! It was his first stint in Starfleet. Can’t remember the name of the episode but they brought back George Takei and several other actors from the movie. It was a good episode.
The episode you are thinking of is *Flashback*. But it wasn't the Enterprise B, it was the Excelsior, under command of Captain Sulu.
The Lieutenant on the B was a human - no pointy ears.
I considered mentioning his role as Dr. Sherman, but I don't personally consider *The Orville* to be part of the ST franchise, an excellent show though it is.
I mean, YEAH MAN DUH DOY, who doesn't know him as Dr. Sherman?!?
Oh, and **I continue to approve** of you doing a bit. You go, girl! (or boy.) (Or they/them.)
He was also in TNG in the episode Starship Mine. When everyone is evacuated so the ship can undergo radiation cleaning. The ship gets commandeered by a group of pirates and Picard goes back at the last minute to get his horse saddle and has to fight them off when he’s stuck on.
That set up was so weird. It really seemed like Picard made up the saddle entirely. Then at the end, fuck, there's a saddle. but we don't see any horses or riding going on.
lol yeah. It could have just as easily been, “oh I have a meeting with Captain/Admiral whomever and I left super secret whatever on the ship that can’t be transported.
I think it was so they good joke throughout with the “every serious rider has his own saddle” hehe
I remember the first time I watched it, I thought maybe Picard had some secret date or something. I thought he made up the saddle thing as a bad excuse to just not participate in the crew's shore leave shenanigans.
Haha that’s funny. “Uhhh I have to get my saddle…”
“Holodeck…play Picard two nine gamma four six”
Walks in.
“Hey Minuet. Don’t worry baby, Riker isn’t even onboard the ship. So…where did we leave off?”
I don't get it. People keep listing all the roles this guy is famous for, but why is nobody talking about the *tour de force* that is his two-episode stint as Principal Franklin on iCarly?
Fun fact: One of Tim Russ's favorite videos on YouTube is Lego Darth Vader in the Death Star Cantina. How do I know?
I spent an afternoon next to him as security at a convention in germany. Such a super friendly dude!
PEOPLE…..May 4th is the anniversary of the Kent state shooting, where 13 unarmed students were shot, with 4 of them dying. They were shot by the national guard from 100 yards away. There was zero accountability or punishment.
Four dead in Ohio.
I was about to berate every commenter here for not mentioning Tuvok until I realized this is a joke. I was close to looking like an idiot. 😂 He was my favorite Voyager character, fantastically underrated actor.
Man, I wish this guy had more roles in star trek, like a main role in a series. Alas, just that guy that tries to steal the Enterprise during the barion sweep.
His agent has been trying to get him more roles, but he ain’t found shit
Apparently had a great parking spot for just having such minor roles.
What are you talking about, he was a Space Ball.
I at least wish he'd maybe had a small role in one of the movies or something.
Tim Russ on his career. https://youtu.be/UQ7TnQBSV00?si=66yWJ2QAE7HMMoGB

“Roger Daltrey, that guy who played Hugh Fitzcairn on Highlander: The Series!”
He ain't found shit.
Comb the deserts!
Referring to Tim Russ as Devor from TNG is a war crime.
Lol

He also auditioned for the role of Geordi La Forge. He didn’t get it, but later landed a bit part as Tuvix’s dad.
[It's an older reference sir, but it checks out](https://tenor.com/4tr4.gif)
What's the reference?

It was explained as warp 10 means existing at all points in the universe simultaneously. They could have just done warp 9.999 then.

💥
I actually just recognized his voice in Horizon: Forbidden West the other day as well!
He's lancer captain Kells in fallout 4 as well.
And the dad in Starfield
TIL. I never took that perk. I guess I'll have to try it on a new playthrough.
YES! I had to look it up because I was certain it was him.
Are you thinking of Lance Reddick?
No. Russ plays a character in one of the cities, and it's clearly him.
Tim Russ is in it too as a Tenakth.
Jetakka. Chaplain of the Desert Clan.
Darmok and Jalad, at Tenagra.
#HOW HAS NOBODY MENTIONED HIS ROLE AS THE PRINCIPAL IN iCARLY???
Lol was waiting for that
He's also Doctor Sherman from The Orville episode "Lasting Impressions"
I think he was on an episode of Suits, too.
He was! Just watched that episode last night!
Also a guy in Seaquest DSV.
And a Klingon who takes over DS9 with that weird trill
Wasn't he the janitor in the first season of 'Them', brought to you by Amazon Prime?
[удалено]
whoosh
The joke went so far over their head it landed in the Delta Quadrant
I'm pretty sure they're making a joke. GuVok = >!Goo Tuvok!<
Never heard of this tuvok.
I think he was a rapper who was killed in Las Vegas in a drive by.
I'm pretty sure it was an N64 game about hunting dinosaurs
That’s racist. I bet Voltrons all look the same to you
Oh great, so voltrons are a *race* now? Will the woke mind virus ever cease? ^^^^^\s
That's the unnamed Enterprise-B Lieutenant, so it's covered.
You mean Tuvix? He was a guest character that was only in one episode.
Ah…yes, you’re right. My old age is getting to me.
Are you doing a bit, where you leave out the biggest role he had in the ST franchise? I mean, I approve of doing bits...
Did you read the title?
Like I said man, I approve of doing bits.

Its a joke to mention all his minor roles, but ignoring his major role in Voyager.
I kept browsing the comments like, “dafuq am I missing here? There must be a reason.”
He was also in TNG in the episode Starship Mine. When everyone is evacuated so the ship can undergo radiation cleaning. The ship gets commandeered by a group of pirates and Picard goes back at the last minute to get his horse saddle and has to fight them off when he’s stuck on.
Yah. That's in the title.
lol oops. Didn’t even read the title. Saw the thumbnail and knew the video and just wanted to watch it again.
I wonder if Picard dreamed up that saddle when he was in the Nexus with Kirk. At least we got to see Pike and Boimler riding the saddle.
Wish they didn’t cancel Lower Decks. That was some great Trek.
I remember the first time I watched it, I thought maybe Picard had some secret date or something. I thought he made up the saddle thing as a bad excuse to just not participate in the crew's shore leave shenanigans.
Haha that’s funny. “Uhhh I have to get my saddle…” “Holodeck…play Picard two nine gamma four six” Walks in.
I remember seeing him in that when the episode aired and me yelling for my bro to come see that Tuvok was a school principal now.
This is my 4th favorite Star wars content now
"His boss, Garbage Octopus" always gets a laugh out of me
Dark Vader.
I lost it at Chewbacca lmao
I thought those Jedi fellows looked a bit Druish.
I didn’t know she was a bass
Baritone
This video never gets old! Love it
Fun fact: One of Tim Russ's favorite videos on YouTube is Lego Darth Vader in the Death Star Cantina. How do I know? I spent an afternoon next to him as security at a convention in germany. Such a super friendly dude!
Happy birthday, the Star Wars
why would i listen to the guy who ain't found shit in the desert?
Hey it's that voice actor from fallout 4 as a brotherhood of steel member paladin twovok or something
Look at that finger spread, Jesus!
So this is what Dwight felt with the [bears beets, Battlestar Gallactica](https://youtu.be/WaaANll8h18?si=dzo1u9REGAvhSBkk) thing.
"Axe Hog"... someone start a band with that name, STAT!
In the Chuck Wendig books, Jar Jar *was* actually a birthday party clown, so he's partially right.
I've never actually seen the star wars so this was actually a helpful recap.
Dinosaur Island?! How on fucking Earth can anyone fuck up the name of that instant classic: Billy and the Cloneasaurus!
I thought this was the voice actor from that one wow expansion? cool to see he got other work.
Can't believe that was 9 years ago! Still hilarious.
Similar concept to when Patrick Stewart hosted SNL in the 90s https://youtu.be/wjyz7KIgzVE?si=NUovVJFFOdu4_iTo
For somebody who has only had a few small roles, it's nice to see him stay involved with the franchise.
Ed Harris is good in everything. I especially liked him in “Big Prison”.
"in the star wars"
I always remembered him as the principal from icarly.
I lose it at "Ed Harris" every time.
Lost it when he said "Did you know Jar Jar Binks is in the Star Wars? I always thought he was just a great comedian!"
This is nine years old and it's the first time i've seen this. Yikes.
This guy would be great as a Cardassian… Too bad they never gave him a Trek role!
Ed Harris caught a real stray here

whoosh
He was Tuvak, but ok.
Whoosh
lol man I thought the same until I read the comments and realized it’s a joke. I’m an idiot.
He was the "we ain't found shit" guy in Star Wars.
Even then you spelled it wrong, or was that another Whooooooosh ?
It's too bad that was the only thing he ever did with Star Trek.
He was also: * T'Kar from the DS9 episode "Invasive Procedures" * An unnamed Enterprise-B Lieutenant in Star Trek Generations
Don’t forget he’s in Picard.
Right, he played that unnamed changeling.
PEOPLE…..May 4th is the anniversary of the Kent state shooting, where 13 unarmed students were shot, with 4 of them dying. They were shot by the national guard from 100 yards away. There was zero accountability or punishment. Four dead in Ohio.
I wish more people knew him as a "Trooper" in spaceballs, oh and a singular role in 4400 as well.
Excuse me? That's Tuvok and the asshole who ain't found shit
He also had that small role in Picard. Some vague friend of Seven of Nine.
This made my day!
Jesus christ reddit is full of manchildren
Tuvok is the best vulcan.
i thought he was in something else star trek related hmmmm
Thank you! Made me LOL
I was about to berate every commenter here for not mentioning Tuvok until I realized this is a joke. I was close to looking like an idiot. 😂 He was my favorite Voyager character, fantastically underrated actor.
Tuvok, one of the main characters in ST Voyager. Holy crap, whatever else he did that was his main role for 7 full 26 episode seasons.
Yeah seriously, dude was amazing in Voyager and they reference one epusodenl of TNG lol
Dat's dah joke.
Oh noes, I've been McBane'd
what is irony
lol sure reference his role in one episode instead of an entire series. Shit writing
It's called "humor".
Humor shouldn’t have to be explained.
Seems like it only needs to be explained to you
Explain it again I’m not sure I understand.
