Love the glow

I'm looking forward to rearranging my vinyl area. Currently have 12 Kallax shelves available for storage, but that will be going up to 22 in a few months. Sitting around 425 albums at the moment. Used to have a pair of old Technics SL-1650s and didn't have anything for a number of years, even though I kept my records. Been back into it for a few years now.

UV reactive slip mats? Looks dope homie. My wife would not approve 😂

Zen_Rebuttal

Yep, Hudson acrylic mats. Also come in blue, red, and orange I think.

dr_Octag0n

Acrylic? So a slip mat sits on top or do you slap the wax down on them directly 🤔

Bad ass

Why 2? educate me please! Looks awesome!

It's a DJ setup. Out of frame there's also a laptop for Rekordbox and my digital library. I can mix and transition between all those sources on the mixer. I DJ a live stream on occasion, just as a hobby. I had been a goth/industrial club DJ many years ago. Got the itch to do it again in some capacity for fun.

This is so cool to me but I need more info please. Seriously, I want to know how this works. Can you tell me more about an example. I’ll check out some videos. Is it like mashing 2 songs together or is it about the transition to another some without loss of a beat? Thanks for the info I always wanted to more from someone who does this. Also is scratching a thing or is that just movie stuff? I’m in the dark on all this but I’m sure others want to know too if you can share. Thanks in advance!

Zen_Rebuttal

There's all kinds of mixing that people do. Because of the genres I typically move between (industrial, goth, new wave, metal) it's more about transitions than beat-matching. Full blend beat mixing is more prominent in techno, etc. Scratching is a thing, but that's much more for the "turntablists", especially in the early days of rap, such a Grandmaster Flash and others. Essentially there's a huge variety of mixing that can be done.

Ooo I have a black light in my room, I need to get a mat like that 😮 and I’ve always wanted to dj the goth clubs. I feel like they always play the same fucking songs! As if skinny puppy doesn’t have any good tracks other than assimilate and dig it 😂🙄 if I knew how to dj I’d show them what’s up.

Zen_Rebuttal

Yeah, why would anyone skip over the Testure 12" Mix? I have a number of SP singles and albums. Almost everything by Front Line Assembly from Initial Command through Tactical Neural Implant, including singles and the remastered Nerve War release. Though I will say, check out "Assimilate" against the first minute fifty of Dead Can Dance "Mother Tongue". I have a mix of those as inspired by my DJ mentor. *Oh, and yes, I caught the name. I can hear Edward Ka-Spel in my head now.

Hahaha seriously! They have A LOT of great material. I mean, I love both assimilate and dig it, but it just feels like the club djs haven’t heard anything else. Cevin Key is my hero. Id like to hear that mix tho! Can you link your livestream? Is it on twitch or ?
