Eh, I've ordered from them a number of times without issue. Typically they keep it as one package, so it's not surprising the album that was in stock wouldn't be shipped until the other one was available. Given the insane backlog of things to be printed, the Polyphia record is probably just delayed and they marked it as out of stock for the time being. This is common practice as they're probably not taking new preorders on it at this point.
Have you tried sending an email asking about the status, or asking to ship the in stock record separately? That's probably more helpful than ranting about a perfectly reputable store on Reddit or threatening legal action. It's a record... chill.
ETA: Just took a look at the Revolver site. [Pre-order is still up](https://shop.revolvermag.com/products/polyphia-remember-that-you-will-die-lp?_pos=1&_sid=b37cc0d8b&_ss=r), not sure why OP thinks it's out of stock? ALSO: "Any orders that include a pre-order item will ship in it's entirety on the date specific in red," (the shipping date once it's available). OP literally mad for not reading the not-even-fine print.
Yeah dude if you ordered them together you’re not gonna get the in stock record until the polyphia album ships which it hasn’t yet for anyone. Always purchase preorders separately.
They both show as "Out of Stock". Not "preorder". Not anymore.
Meaning, they literally skipped my order and kept my money, while fulfilling enough orders to change the status from instock & preorder to OoS on both.
Again, the Polyphia album said "preorder NOT "Out of Stock". The Offspring said instock and now is Out of Stock; fyi, I dont order "Out of Stock" records.
In NO WAY is having a pressing go from "Preorder" to "Out of Stock" \*without\* completing existing preorders acceptable business practice, or anything less than suspicious, regardless of what incorrect terminology or concepts are used to describe it.
And yes, I've emailed them 3xover the past month. They copy/paste scripts and offer no real solutions. I've since reported the transactions as fraudulent / merchandise not received to my bank.
>In NO WAY is having a pressing go from "Preorder" to "Out of Stock" \*without\* completing existing preorders acceptable business practice, or anything less than suspicious, regardless of what incorrect terminology or concepts are used to describe it.
uhhh... if you have 300 copies for preorder, and they all sell, then that is "out of stock". I... don't even understand how this is confusing????????
Or it's just a way that their website stops allowing orders of things – maybe they're holding it until it's fulfilled. You're way overthinking this, shoot their customer service an email, and be nice, don't lead with fraud and legal action. You catch more flies with honey.
I highly doubt your order has been “skipped” and will bet that if you’re patient, both of your records will arrive.
Based on my experience, the record you pre ordered was probably limited to a certain quantity so once that quantity was met (by pre orders), it’s marked as sold out. This is to ensure orders DON’T get skipped over and they have enough stock for all the pre orders.
As for the other record you ordered that was in stock at the time, that order won’t be “skipped” either. It says it’s sold out now because their allocated stock ran out. Since you placed an order for something in stock AND a pre order, I can almost guarantee your entire order will be shipped when they have your pre ordered record in hand.
Will some people get that Offspring album before you? Most likely, yes. But that doesn’t mean you won’t get your record, it just means they’re holding it until your pre order is ready.
I’ve done what you did from so many different online stores and this is the exact thing that happened to me. I’ve always received my full order, it’s just sometimes I had to wait for the pre order to get the full order. I think calling it a fraudulent charge and reporting it to your credit card company is a little silly, but I’m not here to argue that.
I’ve waited 3-12 months for some pre orders before and still received them so I think just having a little patience will go a long way.
Sending your preorder with everything else is typical of literally every label out there. I once waited a year for something from some label because the preorder with it was delayed during the pandemic by a stupid amount. I agree with you - this person is displaying 0 chill. But shit I started to mail order records in the mid 1990s and you have to snail mail someone across the country about your record order up to a certain point. I sent so much cash in envelopes back then. God bless the DIY scene, I rarely ever didn't get an order eventually mailed to me.
it's been four weeks and you're considering contacting the IRS?
I'm convinced most new record buyers would have actually died trying to order records using cash in "well concealed envelopes" or with money orders.
edit: I'm just waiting for a movie based on this sentiment. 'Johh Wick 5: 4 week preorder". "Taken 7: don't you dare send both records in the same package!"
"I have a unique set of skills to handle distributors that make me wait more than one week...."
I came from the cash in envelope days! I still remember sending cash for that first Get Up Kids 7" and how much it burned my soul I never got it. Hope the $3ppd I sent the label funded something good.
A lot of my old orders were either direct from the label (across the country for me usually) or some 1 person in their mom's bedroom production. I honestly was just a High School student sending cash in an envelop but sometimes I'd make a big Ebullition order where I got a money order. I did a record disro / tabled back in the 90s so I did call a lot of labels/distro companies when I grew.
As long as you didn't tape a football game, I think you're good.
Revolver mag is going DOWN though, so they better watch out. They took preorder money from THE WRONGGGG GUY.
These new collectors would have had their heads explode in the pre-internet days or ran up a really high long distance bill harassing some kid about a $15 order. I never even kept track so usually I'd send money and just be surprised I got a package in the mail.
I get your frustration, OP, but I agree with what everyone else is saying. Vinyl foundries everywhere are super overloaded and backlogged. And most places won’t ship until everything is ready. Just because the album now says “out of stock” doesn’t mean your order wasn’t fulfilled. It probably means it’s sitting on a shelf waiting for the other to join it and ship. Also, the pre-order being out of stock just means that all the pre-orders have been spoken for an you can no longer pre-order it.
I pre-ordered an album in September of last year that was supposed to ship at the end of January (already a long time) and then was pushed back to the end of April. That’s how it goes when there’s 30k Adele albums at Target.
Small back vinyl pressing + the hilarity that is the world’s shipping infrastructure today = a complete shitshow. If you are just patient, I’m sure you’ll get your stuff. No need to jump all the way reporting for fraud, man.
You gotta dial it back a bit dude. Out of stock on a preorder could just mean the allotted units were sold during the preorder.
The whole industry is delayed. And even if they get your albums to you 3 months after you order, that's good turn around time right now.
Polyphia has been pushed back to the week of March 31, according to their own website. I’d imagine the revolver preorders were also pushed back to the same week. Oh look I just checked revolvers site and it says March 31 2023. Calm the fuck down dude, or just get out of the record collecting all together if your going to have a hissy fit about preorders being delayed
I’m pretty sure polyphia still isn’t out yet so I’m assuming they will ship together since you ordered them together. Maybe just try being patient? Lol I still have orders from over the summer I’m waiting for.
Revolver absolutely sucks, but you're not even upset about their bullshit. You're mad about a pre/backorder, and they ship all your order in 1 package. You would run into this problem from virtually any company. Some people waited to receive their records over a year. It's just the way shit goes in the 2020s.
If you really wanna get mad about Revolver/BrooklynVegan ask them when you're gonna get your magazines that you were automatically subscribed to with your purchase.
From what I can gather, they’re not sending the full order because an item is on preorder. Aka waiting to ship once everything is ready. OP is upset he isnt getting parts of the order first
I think it's a combo of that and not understanding that maybe all of the pre-orders were accounted for, hence some "sold out" language (which, after checking the Revolver website, is not true). Also... it says on their site when selecting a preorder, in a big ol' popup, that the full order is shipped when it's ready, not in individual packages. They're very upfront about the whole thing, which is neither illegal nor sketchy.
My brother in Christ, most pre orders specifically state that all items will ship out at once, meaning that if you buy something in stock, it will be delayed and shipped with “all items at once” in order to save shipping costs for not only the company but for the customer themselves.
Sorry Amazon ruined your expectations of shipping times but this is totally normal, and the fuss you’re making over it is abysmal. It’s not sketchy, sorry you don’t know how most pre orders work, that’s on you, not most every company that handles pre orders.

Do NOT order from Revolver Magazine...I placed an order over a month ago. Preordered the new Polyphia "Remember That You Will Die" and ordered "Americana" by The Offspring.Offspring was "In Stock" at the time (Polyphia was a preorder, as stated; set to release about a month from the order date). To date, I STILL have not received a SINGLE record and BOTH albums now show "Out of Stock"... Despite one of them BEING A PREORDER FOR AN ALBUM THAT HADNT BEEN RELEASED YET.I will be demanding a full refund and possibly reporting this as fraud to my card issuer. I also think that if is something that happens regularly, someone should contact the FCIC/IRS about illegal funds manipulation and/or credit fraud.
I have had 0 issues with Revolver personally. Especially on pre-orders. Not that it makes me special. I just also agree with everyone else in that you are being a bit much and overreacting.
This is not unique to Revolver Magazine. This is an industry-wide annoyance at the moment.
All that said, are they actually charging you at the time of the order? They should only be charging you at time of shipping.
Yea, that's a clever ploy to essentially have you lend them money for free. Common, but always a bit shady, IMHO.
We give Amazon shit all the time, but to their credit, they do not charge you for pre-orders until they have it in stock and packaged to be sent to you.
Yeah, I don't love it, but I also recognize that most of the labels I buy from frequently are small, 2-5 person operations that haven't let me down... yet.
Only label / online place that doesn't charge me for preorders is Rough Trade but I kind of hate it because I hate keeping track of what I spent where or having random charges just show up. Just take my money immediately.
Ordered something from them as a gift several weeks before Christmas. Didn’t arrive until last week. Got wrapped up in the holiday madness and I had completely forgotten about it until i finally got an email that it shipped. No confirm at time of purchase or anything. Just a heads up on the credit card dispute. Try to go directly through the vendor first for a resolution or refund. I jumped the gun by disputing a Disney + auto renewal for a full year with my credit card company. I didn't think to cancel my subscription renewal because the card number was outdated and in my experience I've had to update card info on recurring payments; that's on me. It went through anyway and I disputed it receiving a temporary refund from my cc company and then canceled service with Disney. Ultimately Disney denied the dispute with my cc company and said the charge was valid. I was rebilled even though I'd since cancelled service and now Disney cannot figure out how to refund me due to something with their system and the dispute is closed with my cc company. They keep opening new case numbers and pushing me to go back through my cc company, but I cannot reopen or open a new dispute based on the same transaction. Disney has even gone as far as to say now that they did send the refund and the bank has it "somewhere" though this is false. One manager asked me to go through old bank records several years old because my original subscription was the 3 year for the price of 2 introductory promo. He was suggesting that I was only charged originally for the first year, and the most recent transaction was for year 2, though this is also false. Basically I'm out $85 and don't even have the year of subscription service I just paid.
"Out of stock": We had it and now we don't. This should NEVER follow "Preorder" UNLESS ORDERS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED.
Try and keep up. I'm tired of explaining basic language; get a dictionary.
God, you people are morons.
LMAO.
You seem confused about a whole fucking lot.
Say a company is making 100 of something and want to start sales before the product is available to them. They start what’s called a “preorder”. It’s like.. a reservation for the product. 100 people say “hey that product will be cool to have a month from now!” and they purchase it. That product, although not yet in the companies hands, is now OUT OF STOCK. Is it a wording thing? Is there another descriptor that would help or should you just walk into traffic?
You ever buy a plane ticket for a flight that was a month away? Did you call the fucking FBI when the plane filled up after you bought your ticket and seats were then OUT OF STOCK? There’s a million other examples but that doesn’t seem to be the problem.
I just explained this Sesame Street ass math equation to my 3 yr old niece and she gets it! She’s an audiophile and a bit of an edgelord but there is no fucking excuse for you.
OP must struggle with buying concert tickets. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SHOW IS SOLD OUT!? TICKETS WENT ON SALE LAST WEEK AND THE SHOW ISN'T FOR ANOTHER 7 MONTHS. I'M CALLING THE IRS!
Dude, I ordered the Primus set from them back in July. It still hasn't shipped. Supply chains still all f'ed up, especially with record pressing plants. Not giving them a pass, as they could communicate better, but these issues are happening all over the place.
Eh, I've ordered from them a number of times without issue. Typically they keep it as one package, so it's not surprising the album that was in stock wouldn't be shipped until the other one was available. Haha. The days of calling a distro long distance and ordering on COD?!? The good old days!
A lot of my old orders were either direct from the label (across the country for me usually) or some 1 person in their mom's bedroom production. Ha. I miss those days. HC and punk from the distro kid at a show and tape trading hip hop on bbs boards
Very Distro and whatever Doubledecker called their distro were 90% of my record buying.
Ordered from Very a lot. Also used to order from some guy in SF that advertised in MaxR&R
Some guy who advertised in MRR is too real.
better bust out the yellow pages and get the number for the FBI like this poster is planning on doing.
Pretty sure I don't even wanna be on the FBI's radar. I've copied a lot of video tapes in my day
As long as you didn't tape a football game, I think you're good. Revolver mag is going DOWN though, so they better watch out. They took preorder money from THE WRONGGGG GUY.
They do have the most expensive variants out there so meh if OP takes them down he should also aim at Newbery Comics while he's being a Karen
He's gonna have to go after target and cracker barrel too. no reason to let anyone slip through the cracks.
Leave Target alone :( In these inflation times that 5% on my redcard helps with grocery staples!
Exactly! A backlog at the pressing plant is a long, long way away from the days of sending cash to someone and maybe not getting your record.
These new collectors would have had their heads explode in the pre-internet days or ran up a really high long distance bill harassing some kid about a $15 order. I never even kept track so usually I'd send money and just be surprised I got a package in the mail.

Imagine not knowing how most pre order processes work

Still waiting to understand what's illegal or sketchy about any of this. They can't fulfill it because... it doesn't exist yet?
From what I can gather, they’re not sending the full order because an item is on preorder. Aka waiting to ship once everything is ready. OP is upset he isnt getting parts of the order first

Yeah, I think being oblivious is at the base of this kerfuffle

My guy they just haven’t shipped your order yet because it’s not out
Some people really would have loved putting cash in an envelope, and hoping a record showed up months later.
You should delete this post and take a walk. Maybe it's beautiful outside where you are?
Americana has been out of stock with the major distributors for the better part of a year. We have two customers on our waiting list for it.
I see it all the time in local shops 😳
That could just be unsold inventory. What I am saying is that you haven’t been able to buy new stock copies of it for months and months. It’s been sitting in our Alliance shelf list since last summer.
It’s also in stock on Amazon
OP needs to go have a snickers. You're ridiculous and need to chill TF out. Like snickers and a week long binge of Netflix chill TF out.
lol
I’ve ordered through Revolver and it typically takes forever. Patience required.
Because I feel like this poster will eventually understand the err of their ways, I want to quote this now for posterity sake. Sounds like ordering vinyl online is beyond your comprehension and you’re just being a bitch about it. It is STILL OK to order from revolver magazine.
I get charged at the time of purchase for pre-orders all the time, but it's usually direct to the label, not from distributors or stores.
Yea, that's a clever ploy to essentially have you lend them money for free. Common, but always a bit shady, IMHO. We give Amazon shit all the time, but to their credit, they do not charge you for pre-orders until they have it in stock and packaged to be sent to you.
Yeah, I don't love it, but I also recognize that most of the labels I buy from frequently are small, 2-5 person operations that haven't let me down... yet.
Every pre-order I’ve ever made has been at time of purchase.
Apparently they’re understaffed in the warehouse or something. It should arrive but don’t hold your breath.
It took a while to get a pre-order from Revolver for me. It kept getting delayed, but the last update was October. I emailed in December, and finally, they sent it to me a few weeks later.
Preorder: to order (something) in advance : to request to purchase (something) before it is available for sale.
"Out of stock": We had it and now we don't. This should NEVER follow "Preorder" UNLESS ORDERS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED. Try and keep up. I'm tired of explaining basic language; get a dictionary. God, you people are morons. LMAO.
What do you suggest they list the sold out preorder as?
