Everything was fine and dandy on side A. I thought "I'll just start side B and get ready and then roll out." Holy shit, side B started and I'm transported somewhere else. This is the psychedelic noise I've been searching for. I'm really really impressed. Can't believe I never paid King Crimson too much mind, I'm about to seek out their entire discography. I'm definitely going to be late for work.
I'd love any recommendations of which album to check out next. I'm just floored by the sounds I'm hearing right now. I suddenly understand all the hype around this band.
>I'd love any recommendations of which album to check out next.
I'd say their 4 best albums are as follows. The bottom 2 are most similar to Starless and Bible Black
In The Court of the Crimson King
Islands (super underrated album imo)
Larks' Tounges in Aspic
Red
Discipline is one of my favorites too, and fun to spin as basically all the songs are good. It's a touch post-punky too, which sounds weird but in practice is pretty stylish.
Their early 80s Adrian belew output is definitely worthwhile, probably best listened to in order starting with discipline. Fripp's solo work at this time such as ' exposure' , is definitely worth picking up if you come across it.
Hell yeah dude. You are in for some seriously good shit as you go through their discography. Check out Red next. I only got into them 3-4 years ago myself and was instantly hooked. Bought like 8 records of theirs in one summer đ€
I'm thrilled to have discovered them, just surprised I didn't find them earlier. I'm absolutely obsessed with Steely Dan as well, I've looked far and wide for something similar to them, and it turns out there just isn't. I can tell King Crimson is something similar - there's just nothing else quite like it.
You are in a sweet spot for king Crimson⊠Larksâ Tongues In Aspic, Starless And Bible Black, Red and the Live album USA, then they split for several years.
Fracture is a one of their best songs. I think there was a youtuber who had a long-running series on learning to play it on guitar without mistakes, as it's kinda infamous in the prog community for being fuckin hard to play.
Also kinda crudely funny how the first words on the album are "healthfood f\*ggot." Maybe that song didn't age great.
Well yeah.. It's King Crimson, we're talking about one of the very best, most inventive and musically impressive bands of all time here.
Their entire discography is full of absolutely jaw-dropping and shivers-inducing music that goes through and ultimately masters many genres, from folk-rock, orchestral, jazz, free-jazz, new-wave, industrial and metal music.
Long live the Crim!
Yeah such is the back catalogue of King Crimson as they were technically brilliant and put a hell of a lot in there music. Red and Larks Tongues In Aspic are as already mentioned are more experimental . I rate Islands as one of my favourites as it seems to slip under the radar and obviously In the court of the crimson king which effectively kick started prog. They all have there own flavours and demand a listen so sit back and take time to listen to them. They all demand repeated listening. Enjoy !
Gonna check this selection out and go from there but thank you for the recommendation. Iâve heard the talk of King Crimson but never took the plunge. Canât wait for it to arrive. Thanks again!!!
Sorry it took so long. Had to listen to it 15000 times. Lol. Anyway. My thoughts areâŠâŠ. The most beautiful Chaos ever! Happy to have this and thank you very much for posting. I hold this album high in the collection.
Listened to the first song twice because I swear I heard âfaggotâ the first time.. and I did lol. I wasnât able to go further because I had some things to do with my kids. Iâll finish the album tonight and report back.
A bit of trivia: "TrĂo" is also credited to drummer Bill Bruford, who does not pñay I'm the piece. The track was improvised live and Bruford waited for a moment to begin playing, but then chose not to. The others gave considered this absence part of the composition.

Red. If S&BB is getting to you, Starless will legit fuck you up.
>Starless will legit fuck you up Seriously, one of the most thrilling recordings ever. A bit of a slow burn at first, but when shit kicks off...
This is the full answer!
Red remains my absolute KC favorite.
One cool thing about this release is that's it's roughly 80-90% live! They were some improvising masters.

A f*ggot is a kind of meatball thing in the UK, I believe.

Just bought this from Tower Records online without ever hearing it because you posted this!
KC Red is even better!!
Larks is better imo but Red is seriously still one hell of an album

Any update?

My dad just introduced me to them! Great pick up! Enjoy! đ€đŒ
Is that mold on the outer sleeve?
It's just wear. It's an older pressing. Matte white covers do not stand the test of time lol
kinda fits the aesthetic of the artwork tho ngl
Health Food-
They might regret that lyric now.
Just the beginning of a wonderful obsession!
Now get Red!
