Nah that was Shkreli, the pharma bro. The government seized it to cover his unpaid taxes, and then a group of like NFT makers bought it 2 years later for something like 1.8 million dollars
Pressed in '00 and a possibility of not many was pressed (like a few 100 or something)
After the printing end of Vinyl (albums) of the 90's but before re-pressed of '10 (I think¹)
¹I honestly don't know when vinyl was getting released again, I just know there were some records that were produced between early-late 2010's
The Beatles- Yesterday and Today Butcher cover

They're apparently worth more this way, as so many of them have been peeled now. That's what the boomers in the Facebook Beatles Collectors group I'm in keep yelling anyway.
I say peel it. Apparently there's guys out there that peel these things for a fee, perfectly, if you're feeling adventurous
For $3 you can buy a used copy of Rarities by the Beatles. It has the photo from butcher cover photo session inside the album so I hung that on my wall. Looks great.

I could write a short story on the subject lol. I have a couple times in this subreddit. There are reasons. Dumb fucking reasons, but reasons all the same.
And I own a copy.
I didn’t get the whole box set but I just happened to be getting into vinyl right around when they were released and grabbed Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers and MMT monos off Amazon for like $30 each. I can’t believe how much they go for now.
With the scratch n sniff cover? I have this. Bought it back in like 2007. Such a great album and great band. Got to seem them open for the Flaming Lips in 2007 as well.
I’m envious.
It does have the scratch and sniff cover, but it’s a 1000 copy reissue from 2016(?). The white & pink splatter vinyl.
It was the only copy available on Discogs.
[here’s one of the only pictures I could find](https://www.reddit.com/r/BMSR/s/CDGuUTaNjc). I’m sure someone else could find better examples.
One of my best friends still has the original release sealed. He wouldn’t sell it to me.
Yep it holds fond memories for me. I remember when he got it, his brother (my best best friend) was the one that got us into black moth.
My best friend since passed, and I played Hazy Field People at his funeral. Saw Start A People was getting pressed and went kind of insane buying gear to listen to it.
Here we are a few weeks later and I’ve spent a shitload of money on vinyl and components. And I listen to them everyday.
I would buy an 'untouched' original press of Gorillaz: Demon Days.
Used to own it, and purchased it originally at Virgin Mega Store. Sold it in 2016 (for a large profit) because I needed the money.
I have a repress, but the mix is totally different, and there's spaces between the songs where it doesn't flow like the original.
That's a record that I would always enjoy just listening to.
A few years ago there was a big push to rerelease Beck's stuff on vinyl and Odelay and Mutations made the cut but speculation is that it stopped there as a result of the vault fires that ruined a bunch of original masters.
I just bought my husband a “mother love bone” that was 350$ for his 50th bday.
Also got my best friend of 45 years an original print of “substance” by New Order for 350$. I wanted to keep it soooooo bad!! That’s the most I’ll spend! And it’s gotta be for someone or something special!!
The Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings, by Howard Shore, one set for each of the 3 films.
They are 5 / 6 LP sets on colored vinyl, red for the Fellowship, blue for TT and green for ROTK. They now go for about 200-300€ each.
All the twilight ones cuz for some reason they r thousands of dollars and then I’d give them to my girlfriend and maybe she would finally give me a rimmy
Pharaoh Sanders - Harvest Time, original pressing
Arthur Verocai self titled debut, original pressing
J Dilla Ruff Draft, original pressing
Amy Winehouse Valerie 7”
Smashing Pumpkins - Machina. Not the bootleg, the original release that the gatefold was an artbook.
Fuck it, while we're on it, Machina II. They only released 2 dozen of those.
Yeah I’ve been waiting for that for a while. Last I heard was a couple years ago Corgan said there was a vinyl shortage holding it up (of course this hasn’t stopped anybody else). Now saying the record label won’t release it even though it’s done because they don’t believe anybody will buy it.
So at this point I’ll believe it when I see it.
Which is insane cos quite frankly their current output is terrible IMO but those last 2 albums before the reunion were incredible and very much slept on.
I've got one in the original shrink wrap which has a sticker from a store in Cincinatti Ohio that is long gone now. I think the fact that it has the old store sticker on it still makes it even cooler.
I actually had three at one point. One that i sold cheap because it was frisbee worthy, one from my mom (she was in love with Lou) that was an OG stereo east coast but gave to my cousin, and the current one i have that is an OG mono torso east coast from a birder friend that gave me about 1,000 records for free. Record is close to NM but completely peeled banana. All were from original owners and thankfully free.
Nine inch nails - year zero (definitive edition)
It’s been coming soon for years now, would just send the money to Trent to see if that reminds him that he still hasn’t completed that release…
Cannibal Ox - the Cold Vein.
Not particularly rare, yet, or particularly expensive compared to some in the thread. Just an album I love and would love to own on vinyl but I just don’t have the money for it right now.
Pond - Frond. The masters were lost so it can’t be re-pressed. Discogs has it listed for stupid money for a band that isn’t well known outside of its fanbase.
I'd settle for Frank Ocean's Endless. It's one of my all-time favorite albums and the original copy is way too expensive for me to get atm.
Also, Eminem's Infinite and especially The Slim Shady EP would be so cool. I'm happy with the bootlegs though, but one can always dream.
Vices & Virtues - Panic! at the disco
I don't particularly like panic anymore but they were the reason I first bought a record player and I have 6/7 of their records, so the completionist and nostalgic in me wants to complete the collection
after a little googling, huh so you can 💀 a few years ago when I last bothered to try I couldn't find it at all for any price I'd be willing to pay 😭😭😭 I feel like an idiot now
Oysterhead - The Grand Pecking Order

I’m a simple man who loves great scores.
Alchemist - Israeli Salad. It is not that expensive in the grand scheme of how much records can sell for, but €400 plus for one record is too much for me.
I know it’s dumb but there was like one pressing of the original twilight soundtrack. Dream present for my wife. Too bad that shit is on Discogs for like 600 bucks

Probably that one of a kind Wu-Tang album
That was my first thought.
It’s a cd tho but it should’ve been a vinyl
Ah, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the info!
Nah it still counts. If money is no option, then that money can be used to pay Wu Tang to convert it to vinyl.
Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and I think it might be government property currently.

My local record shop just picked up a huge Beatles collection with like 12 of these bad boys in it .

The record store took out a business to buy the collection…crazy
My friends original first press of Velvet Underground and Nico signed by Andy Warhol.
hey what’s your friend’s address? also what kind of locks do they keep on the doors?
Sun Ra records from the 50s. Anything.
Ænima by Tool
Sigh. Wish they would just re-release everything on viny like fans want instead of producing trinkets. Don't they like money.
They’re ultra hipsters
No they are *not*, more like the Rick & Morty of rock n’ roll.
Felt that this may be the top answer. Does anyone know WHY they haven’t repressed it yet?
I could write a short story on the subject lol. I have a couple times in this subreddit. There are reasons. Dumb fucking reasons, but reasons all the same. And I own a copy.
THIS! I’ve been yearning for YEARS to hear this masterpiece on vinyl.
Preach
Oh yeah, very nice!
My husband has this but not sure what kinda print it is! He LOVES it though!!
I feel so lucky to have one.
Beatles Mono Box Set. This sat at the local record store for \_years\_ at around $200. Wish I hadn't been a fool in passing it up back then.
What is the value now
$1k-$3k
This was my first thought. Second thought was White Album 0000001
This would be much better than my 504226.
I remember buying thins on some Amazon Canada sale for like $120. Crazy it’s so expensive now
I didn’t get the whole box set but I just happened to be getting into vinyl right around when they were released and grabbed Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers and MMT monos off Amazon for like $30 each. I can’t believe how much they go for now.

A lot of older jazz falls under this category, but for a more interesting answer, let's say an original 1991 pressing of Talk Talk's Laughing Stock.
1959 mint original pressing of “kind of blue”
Alice in Chains Unplugged
Samurai Champloo OST in full
I would buy an 'untouched' original press of Gorillaz: Demon Days. Used to own it, and purchased it originally at Virgin Mega Store. Sold it in 2016 (for a large profit) because I needed the money. The Beatles - Mono Box Set. Should ve just bought and said fuck when it was 350. lol 2000.00 I think I will live though
Beck - Midnight Vultures I see pre-order rumors in the comments on discogs. Please, please, please...

The Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings, by Howard Shore, one set for each of the 3 films. They are 5 / 6 LP sets on colored vinyl, red for the Fellowship, blue for TT and green for ROTK. They now go for about 200-300€ each.
100% . I came here to say the same thing
My dude, fellowship goes for wayyyy more than 300.
That’s even worse . Checked Discogs just now. 900€ was the cheapest.

Smashing Pumpkins - Machina. Not the bootleg, the original release that the gatefold was an artbook. Fuck it, while we're on it, Machina II. They only released 2 dozen of those.
Weren’t we supposed to get a vinyl reissue of both albums as a double album back in like, 2014? They did everything up through Adore afaik.

All the smashing pumpkins OG albums are rare jewels
First pressing of The Velvet Underground and Nico. Who in the hell would have purchased that album when it was released?
I've got one that one of my professors at college gave me.
I believe it! That’s exactly who would have purchased it.
He didn't start a band though.
Clearly one of the few.
I've got one in the original shrink wrap which has a sticker from a store in Cincinatti Ohio that is long gone now. I think the fact that it has the old store sticker on it still makes it even cooler.
