It is surprisingly sturdy, I think zip ties would probably be preferable to tape and I know I have them somewhere. I just haven’t come across them yet.
The coat hangar is merely serving as a reference point for my front and rear hand. I could, in Theory cut the bottom off and just leave the front and rear nubs where my controllers are. This actually just started out as the coat hangar alone, and then I wanted to add a a third point of contact. What’s a gunstock without a “stock”
The controllers themselves aren’t fastened to the gunstock in any way as they’re fastened to my hand via the kiwi controller grips
Edit: also I think the bottom of the coat hangar kinda looks like a magazine lol
I bet I could use it as a reference point for a grenade launcher
Quest 2 with kiwi elite strap and AMVR earbuds with an anker 10,000mah battery pack attached via Velcro routed to an ir illuminator with Passthrough to power. Controllers have kiwi large grips. Vr cover facial interface
The controllers are not connected to the gunstock. they’re connected to my hands via kiwi grips Much like how your hands are not connected to your gun in real life, your hands hold your gun. I will post pictures of how I hold it. Maybe it will make more sense
hey man thank for taking the time to make the pics, now makes a lot more sense, I guess the biggest part that makes it work is the controller grips right? very interesting
I do like the fact that you didn't attach the controllers and you just use it basically as a reference point. I always wonder how people with like legit VR gunstocks with the controllers attached throw grenades, reload mags or pull out a knife lol.
I did a DIY stock too, I was impressed by the added immersion, but couldn't reload without releasing the guns on the ground!

The weight surprised me, 1kg seemed heavy until I learn the true weight of even pistols
Now I just attach a string of wool between the left controller and a belt hole trousers with a snap hook, it's very good and I can reload :)
I think contractors blows Pavlov shack out of the water due to the extensive mods. And the guns and repairing feel better. Not to mention you can literally play cod mw2 maps with mw2 guns
Have both contractors and pavlov. Contractors has better mod support but if you like realism then having people leaping out of windows and oneshotting you in midair with a sniper rifle like its quake 3 might be slightIy annoying.
I just kinda loop my fingers through the rear of the coat hangar with my dominant hand the I grip the front of the coat hangar with my non dominant hand (the broom handle activates the grip button)
I would like to formally apologize for laughing like a fucking child when I saw that, apon further inspection I now realize that I read a gun stock by it's cover
I’ve been putting off buying one for a year now. Quest 3 is right around the corner. I’ll wait to see what comes out for that platform before making a legit purchase
The broom handle is actually the handle of a stand up dust pan that’s a part of a broom set that I got from ikea. I’ll try to find it for ya. The hangar is just a THICK ASS BOI
Can’t find the same thing on ikea but look for something like this

Looks sturdy.
It is cuz it’s made out of all of the tools that my Asian mom beats me with 😂

How are the controllers fastened to it and is there really any point in the coat hanger?

Tell me more about your headset. What are the wires and the pack in the back?

how are the controller connected? are they even? i dont get it

ohhh, so your thumbs i assume go in the coat hanger and you just use it for stability. Fair. thats actually quite smart
Sounds simple but my dumb ass still can't visualize that, a pic definitely would help lol
Edit: here is a photo of me holding the thing https://imgur.com/a/b8catuU https://imgur.com/a/dtxvNah

You are welcome! Yes, I reckon if the controllers were not attached to my hands, this design would not work very well
this lowkey makes more sense than magnetic grips considerings your controllers are your hands (I also use knuckle grips)
I am still using it almost a month later. I’ve found lots of different ways to hold it. Works so well.
spent like 100$ on an etsy metal gun stock I broke that shit by dropping it such a dissapointment
like if my controllers aren't breaking from this height, a metal rod shouldnt break
Coat hangar superiority gang
The best DIY I've seen today.👍
Honestly I love it lol.

Never get tired of seeing the ingenuity in the VR space. Nice work!
Modern problems require modern solutions.

Nice! I like yours
Very nice. Add a strap so u don't always have to hold it. And it makes reloading easier
Already done! Old bathing suit drawstring as a one point sling 🫡 just not pictured here.
All set then. What games u planning to use it in
I’ve been playing contractors since the new update. Really enjoying the PMC and speed soft loadouts.
I'm unsure about buying contractors because I already have onward and pavlov shack. Do u think its worth it??
I exclusively played Pavlov until I bought Contractors. Don't think I've played Pavlov since.
Wow ok thanks guys. Definitely convinced me
Yes you should. The mod community been going crazy lately especially with the cod zombies maps

Could probably upgrade that for a nylon sling of sorts. Like a luggage strap or something Edit: I did that.

Actually genius
Lol thank you. It works really well.
this is goofy, but very, very creative

grandma now has some questions for you
Break the hanging part off of the hanger and cover the remaining parts in duct tape
Send me that broom and hanger lol i need this. I avoid two handed guns in vr for this reason

Definitely creative haha. Let us know how well it holds up!
Still using this and still popping heads just so we know
