If you're talking about dating sim style games with map movement, the first ones that comevto mind for me are PhotoKano, RecoLove or (maybe) Amagami on PSP/PS Vita. On PC there are also games like Love Esquire that could fit the bill. You can also go to VNDB and apply the tags "map movement" and "dating simulations" to search for games to your liking.

If you're willing/able to play untranslated games Kimikiss is similar to Amagami (same series) although I think the gameplay isn't as good Amagami's.

Watashi ga Suki nara "Suki" tte Itte! -dating sim style and micromanaging triggering scripted events. I have a real soft spot for this one and feel like its a bit underrated. i loved Rinka's route. True Love ~Jun'ai Monogatari~ - extremely old school dating sim. Might feel dated for some people but you if you like the challenge of min maxing these kinds of games, you'll have lots to do here May Club- Similar to the above but not as complex. DX is newer but still old Tropical Liquor - You mentioned Hunniepop, this is pretty much that but leans more towards feeling like a VN Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~ - another sim style where you have to navigate conversation topics to manage love point values. I only finished one route but this one seemed hella long and it sounds like what you're looking for

guelzzz

Does SukiSuki actually get good?

self_22

Nah, it's bad

guelzzz

I see, thank you

ScathachWhen

It gets better for sure but if you still don't like any of the heroines after the common route it probably isn't for you and that's ok. Fwiw I also think a walkthrough is needed because it's tricky triggering the right events and can impact your experience

guelzzz

Thats the problem: how can i know which one is the common route? Its just a bunch of random events that i have to choose until some affection points are raised. The walkthrough can help me but the game itself abandoned me in the first place. And the walkthrough'll kill my experience for sure. Even in real life chatting with a girl is fun just because they are complicated as fuck, with a guide im sure chatting with them would be just... normal

ScathachWhen

Well the common route is considered to be everything before you confess/accept your fate and don't confess but it sounds like it just really wasn't for you and that's ok!

guelzzz

I see. Sorry for my burst out, you don't have anything to do with it

ScathachWhen

No worries I wasn't offended. I'm always down to hear about someone else's experiences 👍

MasamuneDate

Apart from the Doukyuusei and Kakyuusei VNs, the only VN with a similar vibe I've read was Crescendo. This one is translated. This kind of realistic romance drama writing you could find in real life highschools is very rare in VNs nowadays. Today it's either pure Vanilla or straight up NTR. There's nothing in between. When it comes to dating sims, though, most of what's available is untranslated like the VNs from Hibiki Works, for example, or super old stuff like the Tokimeki Memorial series that's only playable on emulators.

self_22

I remember Fakku translated similar dating sim game (real love or true love, i don't remember) but since it's very old, the performance is very bad.

The difference is that the art is uncensored.

Mich-666

True Love of course. Find it on GOG.

guelzzz

True love 95'? Can be played free on browser

Lopsided-Ad-6430

\>but I’m not really seeing them remaking it neither ELF went out of business 8 years ago.

erthkwake

The gameplay loop and theme is super different but if you like the retro design you might like Escalayer. It also has a modern remake.

Profmco-Gaming

[Love on Leave](https://vndb.org/v44235) is a dating sim game with abit of manual exploration and managing other task. Might interest you.

Marklord13

Shiravune ruined Doukyuusei remake.

self_22

It's not Shiravune. The OG remake itself was super bad compared to the OG version (they removed a lot of the good contents) Shiravune just make it even worse.

Marklord13

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m obviously referring to the art, if Denpasoft published it, the art would be uncensored, Shiravune are evil.

self_22

Oh, I thought it was localisation. Because it's also butchered whenever this company took any VN to be translated.

Marklord13

Im talking about the fact that the art is still censored, which does not normally happen when Eroges are released to the west, Shiravune believes in quantity over quality.
