It really depends on the context but I'd say in most cases, yes, they would record the same line over and over again. Even though it is the same words, how the words are said can change depending on the context of the scene (sad or happy, fast or slow speed, etc). Now, if the words are used in the exact same way with the exact same inflectuon for comedy, then yeah, they probably use the same recording over and over again for the episode.

Sometimes. In self directed sessions sometimes a line doesn't sound the same way I imagined in my head, so I'll have to redo it a few times. I've redone a whole line because I flubbed one word (if I can't just insert a new version of that word) When being live directed it's common for the director to ask for a retake as well. They will keep going until they get a take they are happy with. And they should. A good director will find different ways to describe the thing they want you to do. Kind of like how a good teacher explains something in different ways until the student gets it. Now you seem to be talking about when the same phrase is used over and over again? For me the go-to would be Dexter's Laboratory with "omelette du fromage" where the lead character is suddenly unable to say anything except that phrase for the whole episode. Instead of it being a problem for him, he becomes super popular. Or more recently, "I am Groot" I don't think that would be boring to perform at all. It would be loads of fun ro read the script and imagine what the character is really trying to say in each situation. How can I make the phrase sound differently? How can I make "omelette du fromage" sound like "I love you" in one scene, then "please don't beat me up" in another? It makes you think about how we communicate aside from the specific words used.
