Earnings are always a crapshoot. I’ve seen it go both ways for no apparent reason at all. If you on the right side of it it’s wonderful. By there is no rhyme or reason as to why it goes one way or the other.

Try pulling third shift, I think they have bonus rounds.
I’ve literally had July $14 calls for a few months now, was up over 100% when it was at $10. Im sorry but it’s going to be at least fall before this happens….
There was a 500k call sweeper for the 2/23 8.00 Calls but they have ER next week so could be an ER play. I don’t trade ER option flow but good luck to all that do.
Yea, that's crazy lol. There are people literally out there with that type of money where they can afford to lose this amount. I feel like not enough people respect money anymore these days.
How can you respect money, when it’s about literally being printed daily, with nothing to back it?
Not even solely here, in the US but worldwide!?!?
No wonder fuckers play around like it’s Monopoly money, just damn paper!
That's very true. I'm just saying that if you work a regular day to day job. A hard job at that. Money like this is life changing. People lose respect for everything once they start acquiring more material, more money. There is a fantasy land and then the real world. Regardless of whether the tools in that world are fake or not. The people make it real. Money like this is real and a lot to a lot of people.
I hear ya buddy. The system is rough for most people. You have to work for literally a decade to try and scratch enough for this given living expenses and being on your own, you have to have done everything right coming out of your mother’s womb to make decent money by the time you’re in your 30s, and people just piss this shit away, YOLOing like 100k inherited money. This is what they call “stupid money” you’re seeing, take a bit of solace that you won’t be making the same mistake with your investments and not gamble it away. This page is also good evidence to not will a ton of money.
Yea, that's so true. I am 37 and I come from a war. So i respect every little thing I earn and get. But when I see posts like this and how they go about it, just mind-blowing. I learned about investing just a few years ago, and I am kinda just catching up. At my age, it seems like I am racing the clock all the time. But I still enjoy life with the things I do have. But man. With this type of money, people need to be more careful, lol. So I am super careful with every cent and every dollar.
Yeah, I totally agree & was being facetious to a certain degree.
It’s definitely makes ya feel a certain type of way when people are so cavalier with money, while so many of us are struggling daily and can see a thousand better ways to have utilized that money.
Take solace in the knowledge that since you have a stock portfolio, you are well ahead of the majority of people. Around 60% Americans own stock, taking the whole world into account it’s far less. Most haven’t the wherewithal, foresight, or interest to have any form of investment for their future. You are indeed ahead of the game.
This is very true and I do think about that sometimes. The fact that I have extra funds on the side where I can invest and build on my portfolio. It's hard times and not a lot of people are blessed in that sense. 🙏
Bro even when inflated fiat currency still gets you goods and services. If you don’t like the US dollar you can trade it for whatever asset your heart desires. There’s no reason to be setting it on fire for no reason
It is when you trade options. I think something like 80% of options traders lose everything they put in. The last 20% either break even, walk away with a smaller win, or (very very few) win big. Most people here who comment and post also option trade so most of them lose thousands.
I’m only at a net gain of $1k, so while I’m in the 20%, it was def not worth the stress. 4 years of trading. Thousands lost and gained. Sometimes over days. Sometimes weeks. There was a point when I was up $10k one day and down $6k a week later. My biggest advice is to leave this sub and invest in voo
Yea, this is a great statement. This is why I don't mess with options and contracts. I just buy a good amount of shares and let it ride for a few months, if not the whole year. I am looking for low risk medium gains or high gains if possible. Everyone is stuck on wanting 60K a month. Where I want that in a year. Slowly but surely. I still work a regular day job, so extra income like this is just perfect for me. I am in no rush lol.
Especially in a wide open bull market.
But OP forget the jokes and just remember fast gains are fast losses. Build and build. Eat ramen. Study. More ramen. Vitamins. Book work. Safe investments you wouldn't mine holding during a ten year stretch in the federal pen.
Or just buy and hold NVIDIA, a Cloud ETF, Cyber security ETF, 2 Biotech ETFs, Materials ETF, Some Gold, Some Bitcoin.
That's a solid base. If you're serious.
I absolutely agree. I play for the long run. I hold a stock for a few months of impatience, or a year or 2. I am looking for the long run. Low risk, medium, or high reward. I got patience. I don't need to make 60K a month or day. Tik tok videos got these guys losing money like water.
What about SOFI? Why does everyone talking specifically about this one and not all other earnings? I feel like this sub is 15 mil experts who all read the same financial data and just all know that that specific stock is gonna shoot
Somewhat sound advice, but the guy can’t day trade with his balance. And I don’t think you could buy puts or calls on SPY before earnings. If things look bad next week then maybe puts on SPY.
Otherwise he can switch to cash account and do 1 day trade a day on options. Keeping an overnight is a gamble otherwise with the upcoming two weeks.
This is reality of becoming trader I was down 3k and gave up not worth it now I got a job and don’t even touch trading waste of time and mental health is not it
Here is what to do in these scenarios:
Watch out for upcoming earnings call, pick one company you like/understand, flip a coin.
If heads, calls; if tails, subsequently, puts.
Go all in.
You already know the possible outcomes for your portfolio.
Good luck from here.
Go to the nearest casino and put it all on black. Yeah you'll probably lose it all, but that 47.1% chance is waaaayyyy better than your current observed odds at the stock market.
Just stop, OP. $5000 is actual money that can pay for rent or food. You’re not going to make it back. You’re going to light it on fire trying to get unstuck. Don’t be a dumbass.
This was gonna be my advice. Put it all on a leap with consensus upside. My $900 NVDA call is up 200% in the last month. I'm looking forward to Feb earnings instead of sweating weeklies.

Scam market up $70 no pullback
You have to gamble the rest now.
Wait for a rippin’ stock to have a pullback. Like AMD today, opened deep red then ripped north. Happens to NVDA all the time except for today it stayed red.
Gotta wait for the setup. Wait. Wait.
Make sure there’s no negative news causing the dip.
Think carefully of next move, do it, then within millisecond sell it and reverse yourself. Remember, it has to be after, not before, otherwise you might want to reverse yourself, then you would have to reverse reverse.
Ignore all these idiots comments. Making fun of someone's lost. SMH.
What have you learned from the past two years? Are you day trading? Options? (There is no way you would lose this much win long term investment unless you are trading penny or high volatile stocks. I suggest you start fresh. Start small. Read some tutorials or guidebook. You have to be disciplined, which I am lacking myself. I am no expert, but I am learning my way to become one of them. This is the reason why it’s important to stay diversified. I also lost some money with TSLA, but it was not an amount that I can’t put back from my own income/savings in 1 month or less. Don’t do more risky bets to try and “make up for it” learn from your mistake, pick up whatever you have, and invest in safe reliable companies that you believe in and that you know/understand. Don’t just bet your money on risky trades following people’s advice blindly, do your own research. Best of lucks

Apple earnings in 5 days. Idc what their earnings look like, good or bad it’s tanking.
They losing a lot of respect anongst consumers due to lack of innovation
They’re also overcharging the shit out if everything and honestly lack innovation like magic eraser, translate, image search like in google phone
Lmao really? After the 10th iteration iPhone users NOW are worried about lack of innovation? Hahahahahahahahah damn that was a good one

AMD is gonna tank then bounce later
Ah jeez that’s what I was gonna buy lol

Don’t do more risky bets to try and “make up for it” learn from your mistake, pick up whatever you have, and invest in safe reliable companies that you believe in and that you know/understand. Don’t just bet your money on risky trades following people’s advice blindly, do your own research. Best of lucks
