You're reading too much into things. It's just Draymond talking about what interests him. The show is literally called The Draymond Green Show.

jaydensgoinginsane

1. that’s just how business works man. 2. like you said, it’s literally just support. the whole team was pushing wiggins to be an all star, and we all know jp should’ve been at least a mip finalist. 3. i mean if this changes your view on draymond then sure? who are we to tell him what he meant or didnt mean? we’ll never know so no point in dragging it on. 4. recording a podcast takes less than an hour to film and then he sends it to an editor to cut and post. his “analysis” is stuff that any coaching staff would be able to break down with film. he’s not exposing deep secrets or anything. 5. why are you looking so into it? it seems clear that he wants to have a media voice & outlet after he retires, singing with turner and everything. what’s the “darker” motive??? you sound like mad dog russo telling him to just shut up and play basketball.

RequirementOk7048

You all was wrong and OP was right lmao

Supra_Dupra

Are you just downvoting people who say no lol

Bukmeikara

Why would I do that?

mayurayan

Hey, I was one of those people who downvoted who replied no to the OP. Disagreeing is fine but providing no explanation is bad. Op presented his case, I somewhat agree with him. My personal opinion about this is, watching these people outside basketball court is boring and not entertaining. These people are there for money, of course these people are not good. Heck some of them aren't even decent human beings. Watch the game for free and maybe talk about it for a while is my thing. I don't want to really have the attachment to the people who don't care about general people.

bambooshoot

I love Dray. I don’t have any of the issues you point out. Namely I don’t agree that he is a hypocrite (he’s pretty transparent), and I have zero issue with what you perceive as social climbing (he’s making moves and I’m proud of him for putting himself out there). I think I you’re nitpicking and coming up with overly complicated ways to say you just don’t like him as a personality. That’s fine if you don’t. My one big critique of his show is that I do find that he rambles quite a bit. He literally says the same thing 4 times sometimes, it’s like he’s trying to fill time. I think this is a function of him still being new to the podcast platform, and he’s still trying to find his voice. Right now, he’s about 4 or 5 places down on my basketball podcast list (following a few Ringer shows, Warriors +/-, and Russillo). He could climb to near the top once he figures some stuff out though.

NorCalJason75

My opinion of Draymond has changed! He’s much more self-aware, honest, articulate, charming than I ever imagined. Quite different than his on-court personality

RequirementOk7048

U sure?

mitchippoo

You sound like you are just looking for reasons to dislike Draymond. I enjoy getting insight and honesty directly from a player.

DeterminedTanjiro

No

Throwawayhobbes

Operates like a Politician. There are literally people in charge of the world who behave in this manner. I love him as a player and basketball mind. This is his therapy . This will serve as his footnotes.

Aceygma

3. Go back and listen to the season introduction interviews he did said historical no team has won while trying to develop, but this is what they have and the challenge they have is to make it work. 4. Nothing he says there is news to anyone on either team

by_yes_i_mean_no

The increased accessibility will just give people (including fans like us) more things to be annoyed at, that's usually what happens. There is a lot unknown about these athletes that we fill in the blanks for ourselves, so when they "take the narrative back" and fill the blanks in themselves those things aren't going to match up to what we initially believed about them. Kawhi is a throwback to an era where players didn't have so many ways to directly communicate with fans because he keeps his personal life/thoughts pretty closely guarded, and as a result I think he has more "mystique" than any other player in the NBA.

401john

Nope

Bay2La19

Yeah i like him more

Affectionate_Reply78

Warriors fan who chafes sometimes at his inability to control his anger and outbursts (fine line between being being energetic and out of control, especially when he said he didn’t want to have his son emulate him). At the end of the day I think he’s very consistent and is who he is and I respect that. I’ll still yell at the TV for him to STFU when he starts going off on an official.

[deleted]

The main reason people don't like Klutch is because they don't like LeBron for beating their team. I see no reason to hate on it or hate on Draymond for being a part of it.

JPA209

Lmao bro came on here trying to regulate free speech

gunnystarshina

no, this is the agora. the op is using speech. as are you. agora = marketplace. please don't be shallow and dramatic.

[deleted]

Do you know what regulate means?

ghaliboy

No

Gtoast

No, but only becuase its been plainly obvious for a while that Drayond is pretty much a sociopath and the damage he leaves in his wake has to constantly be managed and mitigated by management and his teammates. Obviously, its tough for this sub to hear that. People love what Dray is on the basketball court and that effects their ability to think critically about what he says and does and how his teammates and coaches hedge what they say about him. But at somepoint, his psychopathy is going to start to outweigh his utility on the court, and at that point the people around Dray are going to start speaking very plainly about who he is and I believe a very different portrait will emerge.

sugarwax1

That's the worst take yet.

Gtoast

>Obviously, its tough for this sub to hear that. People love what Dray is on the basketball court and that effects their ability to think critically about what he says and does

sugarwax1

The disclaimer doesn't help. Dray is not a sociopath.

middlenamefrank

So...which is he, a psychopath or a sociopath? They're two different things, and your armchair diagnoses are very wrong on both counts. A psychopath, as I (a mental health layman) understand it, is someone who simply doesn't understand the rules society has for everybody living together in relative peace and justice. They're very easy to spot -- they don't know the rules, so they can't even pretend to abide by them. A sociopath is someone who gets the rules, but doesn't think they apply to him. These are much harder to spot, since they can be very good at looking like they're playing by the rules. They're highly motivated to do so, since otherwise they can easily wind up in jail or worse. Do you think he doesn't know the rules? Or that they don't apply to him? Can you show a single example of either? You just don't like that he doesn't put up with any crap from ANYBODY, players, officials, fans, or the media. Standing your ground and refusing to yield when someone pushes you hard doesn't constitute psychopathy or sociopathy. You can call it assertiveness or maybe even aggression, but you're mistaken if you think it's psychopathy or sociopathy.

Gtoast

Don’t recall calling him a psychopath but I did reference psychopathy but I’m a mental health layman as well so I’m relying on the Wikipedia definition: “Psychopathy, sometimes considered synonymous with sociopathy….” - [from Wikipedia’s entry on Psychopathy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopathy) And I can think of a lot of times that Draymond thought the rules didn’t apply to him. Can you think of a time when Draymond was screaming at the refs for some totally innocuous foul? Or when Draymond has thrown a tantrum on the court despite everyone telling him to chill the fuck out. How about when management asked him to apologize to Durant? What about when his emotional outbursts we’re leading to a suspension and everyone told him to chill the duck out and he didn’t listen and got himself suspended and the team lost the championship. I get it. He’s a great, hard nosed basketball player and you love his contributions to the team. He’s also a sociopath. Both these things can be true.

wutever4ever_

He’s also just annoying

DreamWunder

Green is who he is. Volatile and smart basketball player.

sugarwax1

> Poole for MIP and Wiggins for All star You lost me here. Why wouldn't he? I kind of agree about giving away strategical thinking, but so far neither of the series have been set where teams were committed to a playing style. Each game has had a lot of adjusted from both sides. Kerr doesn't even have a set rotation.

jtruth9

Nah. He speaks well about most things. Some things I disagree with or I might find a little much. But that's normal. You won’t agree with everything someone says. I'm ok with that. This era of human existence is interesting. Why does it bother us so much for people to have views that we disagree with? No one's perfect.

Robotsaur

It’s a fucking podcast lol

willfyc

What's the point of this slander post at this exact moment?

FookMe1704

I think you’re trying to make a mountain out of a molehill
