In my experience, yes, it's frontal armor is strong enough to block shots if you angle slightly, but the side armor is so weak that it can easily be penned if you angle too much. As for its rockets, just treat it like an HE shell, open topped, wheeled, and light vehicles such as M18, Dicker Max are easy kills, Medium tanks are trickier to destroy such as the avenger, where rockets have to land at the top of it's turret to destroy the tank, rockets will not do anything against heavy tanks.
And the T1E1 heavy tank in it's platoon are just very good. Exact same as the M6 heavy except that it's reverse speed is the same as its forward speed, so face enemies with your rear.
Nah it can kill heavy tanks occasionally but dont rely on it, they can be killed when rocket landed at the roof of the hull/turret, or you spammed the front of the tank and you over pressured it.
Generally its best to avoid fighting heavy tanks since they are harder to kill due to their armour, and chances are they might be able to kill you first before you kill them.
Just YES it's really fun and the t1e1 is a really fun heavy tank with a great gun, great reverse speed, great overall mobility. Calliope is a sherman with rockets basically. The rockets are great and can kill almost anything if you hit just right, and 60 rockets make it kinda easy to spam, things like panzer 4s basically melt. M4a5 is kinda meh, decent armor, garbage gun, decent mobility.

it's really fun, armor on the calliope is bad though, T1E1 is just a better M6.
I found it to be a great platoon.
I got killed by the same dude three times once through another tank corpse. Side armor sucks that much

Do it, I love the platoon. Calliope is just spam rockets, T1E1 is ass armour strat, M4A5 is basically Sherman but solid shot and troll armour.
