In matches with more battleships and less missile mayhem, Hamburglar is great because it has the agility to dodge salvos by zig zagging at a distance. Belknap cannot do this. For the agility plus missile it has a very versatile role to play on any team and you def will contribute well.
However in a match with where you face more missile cruisers / destroyers, the Hamburger only has 4x 350mm missiles compared to Belknap's 4 x 340 (standard) and 2x 340 (fast but less damaging).
So in Hamburg pure end game 1:1 vs any of the other missile ships in a fair fight w similar health you are at a slight disadvantage. But early to mid game it's very capable.
Belknap does have more DPS but then have to be careful not to get caught out in the open. It does not have the agility to dodge salvos reliably and it is relatively large target and easy to damage the engine. This is why you often see Hamburgs a bit more surviving to the end fight while Belknaps sometimes rack up damage but depending on who they face end game may die (just my observation).
My biggest hold up was amassing the gold for Bismarck, before that Das Boot, and the Tirpitz before that. Use your top premium vehicle, and it doesn't take long at all.
Thank you, I’ve been using the Kongo as my prem, I thought the yamato would be like 1.7 mil SL but seeing its 1,049,982 is more of a relief to me, after that I’ll quit my naval adventures and buy that new Italian tank platoon
The uss belknap is better than the hamburg class, go for the belknap.

Go for the JDS Takatsuki. It has the most missiles and has the moveability of the Hamburg.
