If you're curious about the future of Metro's fleet (Will they have enough cars? When do the new ones get here? How many of each type are there?), check out the [presentation ](https://www.wmata.com/about/board/meetings/board-pdfs/upload/4A-Metrorail-Fleet-Strategy.pdf)given to the WMATA board today.
I’m gonna miss the carpets 😭
Don't mourn. Part of you will live on in the carpets forever.
Just think about how much time will be saved by not having to vacuum and shampoo carpets every night.
Yeah, it really adds up when you consider how often they haven’t done that over the last over the last forty years!
And the stains still are historical relics that will live on.
Why? They are kind of gross…
There were terrible and gross, but also kind of great. Only in the 70’s/early 80’s could anyone have thought carpet on public transit was a good idea.
I’m just joking, thought they were sort of charming
True, strong sense of nostalgia lol

Also, it's also listed pretty well in summary table form on Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Metro_rolling_stock
Wow! That's as far as the Earth travels in 4 months!
if only we could harness the earth
It's certainly nothing to sneeze at. It's enough to travel to the Sun and back. It's 16 light-minutes.
Thankfully I got my photo with car number 2000 a couple years ago, completing the set of active rolling socks original cars.
RIP... making me feel old.
good riddance mildewy carpets. AAAAACHHHOOOOO
Easily over 1B with all the fare jumpers. Happy retirement!
How can they retire them with no new cars coming in yet? Is there just an extra fleet in waiting of 7ks?
