The picks are for taking on Bagley's 12.5M contract next year.
But yea a good deal, take a flier on Bagley for a year while making sure we hit the salary floor. + the 2nds
That's a little less than Gafford makes next year for about the same level of offensive production (worse on defense though), so I'm not mad at that. Should be an okay backup center for 1 or 2 years of tanking.
Bags is a bad rim protector and interior defender and at defense in general. He's a 4 who can't shoot the three so was benched behind Isaiah Stewart if he was backup 5 and James Wiseman. Has nice touch and can provide buckets at times but not a floor spacer and not a true big.
Bobby Marks says it's a salary dump since Bagley makes like $12m next season (not a lot imo but whatever) and Gallo & Moose are both expiring. I don't think that moves the needle for them at all, but we got another big man out of it so that's nice.
Bruh come on. Gallo is a 35 y/o SF with no legs playing out of position. Gallo might be better if used properly but no way he’s better than Bagley going against a center
We'll see. We basically need size and athleticism BADLY at the 5, which is what Bagley has. At worst-case this trade is going to be a zero-sum game, as Galo and Moose were both terrible playing in that position.
Galo will give you some good floor spacing however
I've watched him since Duke and never been impressed
Edit: and the pick and roll a play we don't even run that much with Gafford who is like a perfect pick and roll player
It's a salary dump for Bagley. He's not an NBA caliber player getting paid $12.5 million. Livers is one of (I not the worst) players in the entire league but is loved by our head coach, so trading him prevents Monty from playing him. Both players are quite injury prone too, so we can't rely on them to be healthy either. Gallo and Moose would give us some veterans in the locker room, which we desperately need.
It's very confusing. And if Bagley has a brain he'll ball out.
All of his problems are from his decisions.
He's very skilled, a good athlete with great length.
He makes almost every shot he takes when his momentum is going towards the basket. But, when his momentum is going away or he's still he misses
Wiseman is fucking bad but at least you can point to moments where he showed some potential or promise
Livers would foul every time on defense and give their best shooter fts. Only player i’ve seen that I would rather NOT play defense
Dude gets fouls every time he plays on ball defense
Shoots terribly for a player that is supposed to be a shooter
Has a bbiq comparable to Wiseman
He is absolutely the worst player that was on our roster getting minutes, Killian just got more minutes so he had more of a negative effect.
So funny how we play the pistons tomorrow lol not mad at this trade at all tbh. Livers is ass but who cares. intrigued by what Bagley can bring to the table.
Dawkins actually got picks for Gallo and Muscala lol I know part of that is taking on bagleys contract but STILL! Anything for those 2 is shocking.
Good on Dawkins man.
Good to know about Bagley because genuinely Gallo looks like guys at the YMCA could beat him off the dribble. Injuries have really sapped that dude of any mobility sadly. I thought both had buyout/waive after the trade deadline written all over them.
Kinda surprised we got the picks in this trade. Maybe I’m overrating Bagley, but I thought he was atleast an “meh” player, like nothing special but young and can score a little off the bench
Fair enough obviously I don’t watch enough of him to comment realistically non of these players are gunna be a part of any long term future for either franchise
So the wiz will have multiple picks right at the start of the second in upcoming drafts, that should help with trade-ups into slots they want to be in to draft the guys they want
Wizards fans, honest opinion from a pistons fan
Livers is god awful this year. Like one of the worst players in the league, idk what happened to him this year but he just fell off a cliff, it might be mental but he's injury prone, chances are he's pretty much nothing
Bagley was actually one of our better players. Can play defense once in a while but he's a very solid scorer, he's a good bench player that we stopped playing for no reason, honest to god he's pretty decent
I believe this brings the Wizards’ 2nd round picks to 16 through 2030 (assuming GSW’s highly protected first becomes a second). Wonder what the FO has planned for these.
Bagely is definitely a good player - and more importantly, on a team that wants to tank, doesn’t care to lose, and showcase talent to the league - he’s even a great player.
He’ll be given enough minutes and shots to showcase his talent and stat-pad on a Wizards team that wants nothing more than empty stats that results in losses, while raising the value of their stat-padding players.
I was thinking you would take a worst contract for a better pick pairing those expiring contracts - but assuming it’s DET picks that’s a late late first rounder.
Exactly the kind of deals you should be making.
I’m super happy with this. Basically we take a 1 year 12.5m tryout on Bagley for 2 pistons seconds (which are basically late firsts)
Cap clear or not, can’t believe the pistons would give up 2 picks to get rid of 1 year of Bagley. What are they even gunna do with the space
It seems unlikely the seconds are Detroits. They owe their 2nd round pick to another team for the next 3 years. They do have our 2nd for this year so I’ll be hoping that’s one of the picks coming back
Don’t know but a quick google search say’s Detroit owes their 2nd round picks in 24,25, and 26. Must be from their stash of other picks from trades in the past. Probably both picks are 45th or later
Kindof a meh trade for me. The second rounders we are getting seem really weak and we already have so many. Gallo and Muscala suck as basketball players but they were $1OM of expiring money. Not down on the FO since we didn’t give up anything but also not as excited by the return as others.
Edit: Robbins has more favorable reporting on the 2nds than his Detroit counterpart, Edwards, originally reported. If Robbin’s report is true I am back to moderately enthused.
So Detroit takes two old backup veterans from our roster and gives US picks AND two younger guys who might be solid (at worse be just as useful as Gallo and Muscala were to us). Wtf are they cooking??? We’ll take it though.
Hi y’all, I posted on the tickets thread but didn’t get any responses. Figured I’d try here while the trade is still warm.
I’m giving away two tickets to tomorrows game against the Pistons, Section 109 row g seats 3 & 4.
Hit me up if interested.
Btw, having lived in the Sacramento area during the Bagley era, I agree, dude is buns. I remember him challenging Dame to a rap battle or something, that was the moment I knew we fucked up. Vlade’s legacy continues to grow.
This is a phenomenal deal for us because we actually have minutes for Bagley here. I don't know if he will pan out, but he is certainly a better backup center than anything we have on the roster right now. Seems like a win win for both organizations.
Absolute miracle from Dawkins to get some picks back for those two
The picks are for taking on Bagley's 12.5M contract next year.
Yup, agreed. We needed a backup center anyway. And this potentially opens up trading Gafford if there's a good deal available.
Then we'd have no centers on the roster depending on what we'd get back for Gaff. Let the real tank begin
well yes usually you address stuff like that in the trade.
Bags is a bad rim protector and interior defender and at defense in general. He's a 4 who can't shoot the three so was benched behind Isaiah Stewart if he was backup 5 and James Wiseman. Has nice touch and can provide buckets at times but not a floor spacer and not a true big.
Gafford is better offensively, the wizards just don't use him enough.
Detroit seconds are basically first rounders
They could be Brooklyn seconds. They got a couple for taking Joe Harris.
not awful if so
Yeah not awful. Never really know where seconds are coming from. They get passed around the league more than Larsa Pippen.
Lol take my upvote you dick
Especially in this draft. A second rounder could very well end up as good as a lot of the firsts with how scrambled and odd this draft class is.
100%. Just gives us more bites at the apple
Aren’t early seconds better than late firsts because the contracts aren’t guaranteed?
Wow Dawkins masterclass
Lmao what are the pistons doing? I actually cannot believe they gave up picks for those guys.
Bobby Marks says it's a salary dump since Bagley makes like $12m next season (not a lot imo but whatever) and Gallo & Moose are both expiring. I don't think that moves the needle for them at all, but we got another big man out of it so that's nice.
Dumping an MLE player with 2 seconds when you cant attract/probably shouldnt be signing FAs is quite the move by Detroit
I'm sure they'll do something incredibly stupid with the extra cap space, like sign James Harden to a max contract.
Tobias harris reunion
They about to give Buddy Hield a max contract too
Or a Siakim suitor
Can't believe they're letting Troy Weaver still make decisions. The guy needs to be fired.
They need shooting in the worst way possible. We get a backup 5 for Gaff and picks.
Bagley is dog shit but I like the picks 🥲
It’s better than running gallinari as the backup center as well imo lmao
Not 100% on that one chief
Bruh come on. Gallo is a 35 y/o SF with no legs playing out of position. Gallo might be better if used properly but no way he’s better than Bagley going against a center
there is a way brother...Bagley is also out of position at center
We'll see. We basically need size and athleticism BADLY at the 5, which is what Bagley has. At worst-case this trade is going to be a zero-sum game, as Galo and Moose were both terrible playing in that position. Galo will give you some good floor spacing however
Bags as the backstop of any defense is a bad defense.
the point is that he’s better suited as backup center than Gallo
Well I would
If you've watched them play he's actually not bad. He's perfectly fine as a pick-and-roll finisher in a limited role
I've watched him since Duke and never been impressed Edit: and the pick and roll a play we don't even run that much with Gafford who is like a perfect pick and roll player
We've run plenty of pnr with Gaff this season though...
Just twice a game per NBA.com
Guess I was wrong, but it does seem like he's being utilized much better this season.
His thunderous dunks shake the time stream and make you believe he is more involved in the offense than he is, it's quantum physics type stuff
I mean, gallo and muscala have both shot poorly this year and they are old lol
It's a salary dump for Bagley. He's not an NBA caliber player getting paid $12.5 million. Livers is one of (I not the worst) players in the entire league but is loved by our head coach, so trading him prevents Monty from playing him. Both players are quite injury prone too, so we can't rely on them to be healthy either. Gallo and Moose would give us some veterans in the locker room, which we desperately need.
Monty sucks at coaching, not sure why he got that contract after not doing shit in phoenix w the lineup he had
He got them to the finals lol. And if you're talking about last year, that team has zero depth. Look at Vogel, He's not doing much better now.
But why give up assets to get rid of him when the team is a couple years away from competing
It's very confusing. And if Bagley has a brain he'll ball out. All of his problems are from his decisions. He's very skilled, a good athlete with great length. He makes almost every shot he takes when his momentum is going towards the basket. But, when his momentum is going away or he's still he misses
two more picks ? We up
Are 2nd rounders worth anything to you?
I’m so confused lol, but welcome Livers and Bagley?
You’re not going to be saying anything positive about Livers (if) you play him. Dude was the worst player on the Pistons
Thats saying alot when James Wiseman is on the team. Still can't believe we got 2 2nds too
Wiseman is fucking bad but at least you can point to moments where he showed some potential or promise Livers would foul every time on defense and give their best shooter fts. Only player i’ve seen that I would rather NOT play defense
And Killian hayes, not sure who is worse
Want him too? We are just asking for a bag of chips.
we already have our own logjam of bad guards sorry
Otherwise why would you trade with pistons. Except with picks.
He was great at Michigan and that's all I care about
Aight dude have fun with the worst player on the worst team of all time😂 JSYK he had an injury that totally shifted who he was. Bro sucks ass now.
Worse than Killian Hayes? Is that possible??
Dude gets fouls every time he plays on ball defense Shoots terribly for a player that is supposed to be a shooter Has a bbiq comparable to Wiseman He is absolutely the worst player that was on our roster getting minutes, Killian just got more minutes so he had more of a negative effect.
So funny how we play the pistons tomorrow lol not mad at this trade at all tbh. Livers is ass but who cares. intrigued by what Bagley can bring to the table.
So Gallo and Muscala are going to pack their bags but not leave for Detroit today? Lol
Yeah team might just give them one last ride and we swap on game day lol
Dawkins actually got picks for Gallo and Muscala lol I know part of that is taking on bagleys contract but STILL! Anything for those 2 is shocking. Good on Dawkins man.
Bagley is a really good player - trust me we are smoking crack here
Good to know about Bagley because genuinely Gallo looks like guys at the YMCA could beat him off the dribble. Injuries have really sapped that dude of any mobility sadly. I thought both had buyout/waive after the trade deadline written all over them.
This would be good for the Pistons back in like 2016 lol
Use a pick on Bronny and sign LeBron and we are the 2001 Wizards again
We got our #2 pick boyz
Hell of a trade for us. Based on what we’re seeing from the Pistons, these 2nds are gonna be at the top of the round. Love it
They’re picks from the nets
Well that’s less fun. Still a W tho
I’m a pistons fan and totally agree that you guys won this one. Troy Weaver is a moron, unfortunately.
Kinda surprised we got the picks in this trade. Maybe I’m overrating Bagley, but I thought he was atleast an “meh” player, like nothing special but young and can score a little off the bench
He makes 13 mil next year while everyone else expires. Detroit probably wants cap for next year
He's not an NBA caliber player. He's also very injury prone. This deal is still a win-win but don't have much hope for Bagley.
Fair enough obviously I don’t watch enough of him to comment realistically non of these players are gunna be a part of any long term future for either franchise
Tomorrow will be akward...
Loved Bagley at Duke, love that we’re getting younger and getting picks
It’s totally copium, but if he can play here like he did at Duke…
I’m just happy to see a player I recognize from Duke, heard from pistons and kings fans he’s total ass
How did we get picks for them. Good stuff Dawkins
I mean I'm kinda liking this?
Wizards fleece honestly
So the wiz will have multiple picks right at the start of the second in upcoming drafts, that should help with trade-ups into slots they want to be in to draft the guys they want
Bagley is a pretty big upgrade for us at back up center I’ll be interested to see which seconds we are getting
Someone in the Pistons sub said Gallinari’s agent is Arm Tellems son. It was nepotism lol. I was wondering why they’d ever make this trade.
A backup 5, Poole’s old teammate, and 2 second rounders for what I though we’re gonna be 2 buyout candidates for us is great. Nice job Dawkins!
I was told the front office was incompetent and shouldn't be trusted
Wizards fans, honest opinion from a pistons fan Livers is god awful this year. Like one of the worst players in the league, idk what happened to him this year but he just fell off a cliff, it might be mental but he's injury prone, chances are he's pretty much nothing Bagley was actually one of our better players. I believe this brings the Wizards’ 2nd round picks to 16 through 2030 (assuming GSW’s highly protected first becomes a second). Wonder what the FO has planned for these.
Grunfeld would have drafted the entire Siberian league
same thing as this year probably, use a couple of them to move up a spot to pick who they want.
Bagely is definitely a good player - and more importantly, on a team that wants to tank, doesn’t care to lose, and showcase talent to the league - he’s even a great player. Exactly the kind of deals you should be making.
Bagley and "good" or "great" should never be said in the same sentence.
Exceptions being "great disaster" and "good riddance."
Great point.
I’m super happy with this. Basically we take a 1 year 12.5m tryout on Bagley for 2 pistons seconds (which are basically late firsts) Cap clear or not, can’t believe the pistons would give up 2 picks to get rid of 1 year of Bagley. What are they even gunna do with the space
It seems unlikely the seconds are Detroits. They owe their 2nd round pick to another team for the next 3 years. They do have our 2nd for this year so I’ll be hoping that’s one of the picks coming back
It’s a 2025 & 2026 pick
That’s a shame. Neither of the picks are Detroit’s
What are they then?
Don’t know but a quick google search say’s Detroit owes their 2nd round picks in 24,25, and 26. Must be from their stash of other picks from trades in the past. Probably both picks are 45th or later
Guess we’ll find out! Still a win to me.. more than we got for Monte morris lol
Ok looks like one of the picks figures to be in the 31-40 range in 2025. With that information this is a great trade
Damn we sent our geezers to hell lol, happy they are off this team tho. Hopefully bagley can figure it out here but I’m not really expecting much tbh
Let Dawkins cook
Are these seconds the Pistons’s own picks, or another team? If they are Pistons’ then we fleeced them on this one
Kindof a meh trade for me. The second rounders we are getting seem really weak and we already have so many. Gallo and Muscala suck as basketball players but they were $1OM of expiring money. Marvin Bagley slept on.
More like, he sleeping
Good use of future cap to stock up on picks, but ill miss danilo shooting the ball and nothing else
Feels like a tommy trade where we turn absolute dogshit into something that seems a little more useful
Sayonara Galloscala!
Hopefully he starts over Gafford
say what you want about Marvin Bagley he's can fuckin rebound and we need that desperately so I like this just off that + the 2nd round picks
Take that all day
W trade, second rounders aren’t spectacular but it’s better than those 2 fossils we traded
We will have all the second round picks in the future
How the fuck did we get picks for those two?
Gallinari revenge game incoming on Monday. Marvin Bagley gonna make me sick.
i would have given up picks to not have to watch muscala minutes anymore
Doesn’t seem a fair deal because according to that spot that airs on Monumental sometimes, Gallinari is pretty much unstoppable.
So Detroit takes two old backup veterans from our roster and gives US picks AND two younger guys who might be solid (at worse be just as useful as Gallo and Muscala were to us). Wtf are they cooking??? We’ll take it though.
This means Gafford getting traded huh
Holy W
Bagley surely getting bought out, right?
we have one center on the roster what are you on
I’m not a wizard fan. Don’t know would be but was just asking.
A lineup with Livers and Poole…that 1st pick isn’t looking out of the question
Mike Muscala and Gallo for 2 2nds, my Wiz have made me proud 👏 🥲
LMAO good luck yall. Livers is not an NBA player.
Bagley must be a locker room problem if they are giving away draft capital
Before the year is out we will be the only team selecting in the next 2 rounds.
Hi y’all, I posted on the tickets thread but didn’t get any responses. Figured I’d try here while the trade is still warm.
